  1. I have 2 brothers that married 2 sisters from Reed City. Do you know any of the Bruske family? They have a farm out that way. I'm from Manton but was transplanted to Grand Rapids, but left my roots up there.. A lot of logging analogy.... ;) Mac.. Just like any name in town, the Bruske name is passed around quite often. There is a Bruske farm on the corner of 200th and 7 mile - thats about 2 miles from my home and 3 miles from our Nov 15th deer camp. My roots are still there too, only I got transplanted to Madison, WI (a little bit farther from home than you are) Glad to see you made it to the CC boards. :waving: - Brent
  2. I did it.
  3. video #1 is a member here - "Philstine"
  4. I drive through La Salle / Peru at the 39/80 interchange every time I go home to Michigan, don't be surprised if you see my Blue or White MJ parked at the Loves Gas Station someday. Welcome to CC!
  5. Manton, just north of Cadillac. I know that territory well, I'm from Reed City.
  6. You gotta take some pics of the bent bumper. Thats nuts.
  7. Ok, nevermind then. I thought you were cutting more.
  8. They can't be THAT beat up. They were solid weren't they?
  9. Ouch. When you cut the quarter panels off, don't pitch them... :brows:
  10. Anything with Hydrochloric Acid in it. I guess you could just go get a gallon of Muriatic (sp?) Acid - the stuff you use to prep walls for painting - its got HCl in it too. and you can buy that crap by the gallon. Farm and Fleet had the TB cleaner on sale for $.99/quart a month ago or so, so I went that route... http://www.farmandfleet.com/products/310877-toilet_bowl_cleaner.html?lref=%2fhome_basics%2fhousewares%2fcleaning%2fcleaning_chemicals%2f%3fsc%3dpa%26rp%3d12%26p%3d2 "Its hydrochloric acid breaks down and removes mineral deposits, lime scale and urinary salts...and Jeep rust" :clapping: :smart: :rotf:
  11. Well, I've been having issues with the heat in the truck not working now that its cold out. I first started under the hood. I flushed the heater core, new T-stat (with hole drilled for bleeding) and tested everything I could think of testing before ripping into the block (yes, I even burped the system once I was done). So thinking that it was the water pump I went out and bought a new hi-flow one from Hesco. Very nice product. From what I've seen of the new NAPA water pumps, I think that Hesco uses the same new casting and then throws their impeller on it. I laid some dough down for it, but its a very quality product from every angle. Installed: So, thats it, no other thing could keep this heater from working, right? WRONG. :wall: Darn thing still doesn't kick out heat once you start to move air through the radiator, it heats up some when its warm and idling in park. I'm thinking its a vacuum issue now and that means its going to be easiest to troubleshoot by ripping the dash apart. So I'll do that once its nice out and I'll most likely change out the entire HVAC box for one without A/C from a yard (I prefer things simple as possible, A/C didn't work anyway). For now the '88 gets the tap for long drives that need a good heater.
  12. More progress on my forever long front axle build up. I recently acquired a few more front axles from a friend who needed to move them fast. Neither one was complete so they were worthless to everyone else but me. I figured that I would dump the aftermarket shafts idea that I had been initially planning on to go this route. By the time the dust clears I'll have a bunch of spare parts and two good sets of axle shafts for my front end. Axle #1: Axle #2: First step was to disassemble the axles and then clean all of the shafts up. I did this with alot of hand cleaner (works great on the grease and dirt) and then cleaned the hard to wire brush spots with my dunk-in-industrial-toilet-bowl-cleaner-for-a-day method. Then I primed them, they'll get some satin black once I get the U-joints installed (should get here this week). I also have bought my new unit bearings, sitting on the shelf for now until the rest of the parts get here. I'm liking the pace of this whole deal, taking it easy and getting it done one step at a time.
  13. So did you drive it home after you cracked the case?

:rotfl2: Congrats. Now you two have a use for that XJ Darren got.
  15. Those two phrases don't go together for me... :ack:
  16. Surprised you haven't bought it yet Rob... :dunno:
  17. WOW. That must have been quite a ride. If you need any parts, I'll probably be throwing this stuff away next weekend. viewtopic.php?f=24&t=22006 I'll be rolling through Chicago and n/w Indiana in two weeks and then again for Easter weekend...

    wow

I'm not so certain that either of those axles were designed to operate facing downward... This one belongs on the scary steering website.
  19. :agree: not a $1500 truck. Its always better to wait & find something untouched IMHO.
  20. I wouldn't call that a rigged setup. It looks like its a kit. I would imagine that there are enough of them that need to be converted that kits are made.
  21. The only way to go ^ :agree: ;) The other cheapo adjustable ones are built in the same fashion with the threaded rod and lock nut, but they don't have a good bushing on the axle end of the tracbar and they usually re-use the stock tie-rod end type joint on the truck end of the bar, eggs out and wears out quickly when you lift the truck. Also, once there is no tie-rod end type joint on the truck end of the bar, the amount of flex of your front suspension is not limited by the tracbar anymore. The joint that RE has on the 1660 could care less how much you need to flex the front, its able to handle it all.
  22. So I guess you get to be one of THOSE guys that won't drive their MJ to the next LKQ meet and greet. :rotf: Gotta do what you gotta do. Are you looking for another one? I'll keep my eye out up here for ya.
  23. ...looks like its "been around" (Don't know if you have an account here or not) - http://www.greatlakes4x4.com/showthread ... t=comanche There might be some more threads on it over there too. As soon as I saw the pics of this thing I knew I had seen it before on GL4x4...
  24. De-nile isn't just a river in Egypt...
