  1. four season 57551 fits it about 150 without a core. My guys at the shop do installs for them on mj's and xj. Not expensive at all, no more than doing any other jeep of the same age. You can buy all new more expensive, or you can find a xj in the junk yard to get the parts from. xj or mj 86 up for hvac and all the other parts but the compressor. always do an new compressor and a new filter.
  2. xj or Comanche hvac box works. of course your need the right compressor for your engine . I am not sure why you would want to remove your air con kryptronic. The only thing your get is a weight reduction of a few pounds. as long as your ac clutch is free and not engaged there are not side effects of it being there. They do have hvac with and without air con. The difference is the size of the hvac box is bigger to accommodate the evaporator. A guy I know who delivers hey for me owns a 87 mj who does ac for a living. He just installed all the ac hvac, compressor and line stuff + condenser , but the ac controls. He uses a toggle switch to turn it on and off.
  3. There are three kinds pretty much the same across the board flat tip type, the hook type and the square box kind. The jeep one is in a shape of a large flat head screw driver with the first bit chopped off. You can find generic ones. Climb under there and see how a large flat head screw driver fits. If I remember I can get a picture. 1999+ f150/ f250 fit perfect.
  4. Clean the terminals on relay for o2 sensor heater, also on the connector to the o2 sensor its self. Like all above said the readings should be bouncing around every second or two from lower to higher and back. make sure it is NKG sensor and no burned wires. Renix's years wiring and connectors are mot of the time are the issue . every 75k to 80k replace that o2 sensor.
  5. I looked it up and they over turned it in 2015, that was big surprise to me since in 2013 they ruled you can leave in your car. It been that long since I looked in to that and I am wrong now. Guess I will park on the public street now when I go in to the post office here.
  6. Postals, can not ban guns in your car. A supreme court ruled on that. However yes illegal to take in side of building. Any places that will not allow guns, are places that I don't want to be. Simple put Gun Free zones are area's you designated targets for criminals. All this anti 2nd amendment stuff. I never go to the VA even after I was in Marine Corps for 20 years. I allow all of my 18 employees to carry, and if LTC to carry open. We even go to the firing range a few miles away to show off target practicing. I don't do business with those who don't allow LTC here in Texas.
  7. yes a bad TPS or not adjusting right can make bad mpg.
  8. All my drivers carry and have LTC here. Texas anyone can carry pistols in the vehicles just as long as it is not visible. Long guns are open and can be seen. We like put them on the visor above the driver in our Jeeps.
  9. or you can go to the pick a part and get one that is in better shape for cheap
  10. latch gives power to things after shut off like the IAC to be in cool ready position on next start up.
  11. there are 3 to 4 relays under the hood on passenger side. furthest back on passenger side is your o2 heater relay. then your fuel relay is in front of that, and then latch relay in front of that, then if you have a/c the a/c relay. The three main relays all interchangeable relays.
  12. Note I have had loud noisy going bad relays. Is it a manual? if it is does your master clutch or hose leak? They can leak and it falls right on the fuse box. This can cause all kind of things to happen. As above said good to take every bulb out and clean it's contacts and the connector. Inspect the wires around the bulbs for signs of wire breaks. My bet is something near the fuse box or in that area is not right.
  13. Did you do the ground refresh and updates? Also Check out the o2 relay and the wiring at the relay. Clean those connections up good on your relay plug and the plug that the o2 connects too ( look for burns on wire from exhaust). A lot of the time a New o2 will make it run better temporary , but if it is not getting good connection your heater will not be on fully( at idle is when your o2 heater is on it needs to get it to 600 degrees to allow adjustment of the fuel ratio). low voltage or high resistance will make a low idle, plus rich, and crappy idle. Take a look at your IAC next to your tps. Make sure it is nice and clean in side so that it can adjust your idle correct. If it is a 87, or 88 with the c101, you need for sure to clean it up in side. Best to take the c101 out and wire it direct.
  14. re-tapped many times on them my self at the shop. If it is stripped to bad I replace both bolds and go one size bigger.
  15. I have never had Problem getting parts for the Renix. Sensors never a problem, just need to search for the good makers. I have 18 crashed mj's between 86 and 90 at my yard up in Forney. The renix years in my experience have been most reliable. The only must to keep them going is regular wiring maintenance. The 4.0 is rock sold as long as you keep it cool and oiled right. I have found out, as long as you change your o2 with a ntk ever 80k or so, have stable wiring, and a good alternator the sensors last almost forever. I have 4 MJ's I used daily and one old 84 XJ.
