  1. This seems like more than what is described as factory(welds), but I’m not sure if it is. I’m assuming Jim did this weld, but it’s only halfway around( it’s fully around on the pedal side). Should I just finish the half weld or is this more than enough?
  2. Welp, I had the idea of manually pulling a vacuum on the black vacuum line that goes into the hvac box, and blocking off the white/pink line that comes out of the hvac and onto the heater core valve. When doing this, the vacuum doesn’t really hold at all… I’m assuming this means I have a leak somewhere under the dash. This is even more frustrating considering I had the whole dash and hvac box out a few months ago and didn’t figure this out til now. Can someone confirm is that’s what that means? And if so, can I test from the plug in the back of the HVAC controls, or am I SOL?
  3. I forgot but a long time ago it broke there and I fixed it with a rubber hose, that is not my issue tho. Major change, I finally installed my cruise control motor, and the associated reservoir and lines. After this, the problem with the a/c doors didn’t change at all. Note: rather than replace the line all the way to the intake, I replaced everything after the fork( red in picture)
  4. Since @JimBoreckygave me a new clutch lever, and my old one is worn out I was gonna swap his in. Should I weld my new one too? Idk how common this issue is.
  5. Did the bumper and end caps too while I was there👍🏻
  6. You might get approved idk tbh. But yea I'm expecting plent of mall crawlers, the upside is that there will be a lot of jeeps period, so should be some nice classics as well.
  7. My MJ came without the badges, but I eventually found some and while they are bubbling a bit I still wanna get them on. What’s the proper way to stick them on, and are there any good measurements or anything for me to make sure I get them lined up and their factory location? Same with the 4x4 emblems
  8. Just posting here for reference incase anyone is wondering what different size tires look like with a certain lift. I think there’s already a thread for this but I couldn’t find it. *32x11.5x15 kumho road venture mt51 The rear is stock suspension just with a spring over axle conversion. The front is a Rustys long arm set up with random springs I got from an XJ part out a long time ago, I think they said 4.5 inch, either way it matches the spring over axle. I need to move the axle slightly forward to center it up, but as is the back of the tires clip the corner of the fender flare when turning.
  9. Just realized I never updated this. Got the new oem style radiator in and the fan works when they a/c is on. Didn’t kick on when the engine started to over heat, which happened bc there was lots of air in the system that I forgot to purge. Either way, now that all the coolant is in, it will idle just a hair over 210, and it stays there whether a/c is on or off
  10. I have the black grille and headlamp doors to go for this setup, but they are very faded. Should I just paint them with regular matte black paint or is there a better color for the oem look?
  11. The little ball inside my 89 Base model MJ has 2 connections for the vacuum lines. The pill shaped reservoir from the 87 MJ with Cruise control has 2 connections on each end. What are the two extra connections for? A diagram would be great too. I assume it has to do with the cruise control I just don’t know how it goes
  12. Yea I feel like an idiot. Both the 88 and 89 XJ at the junkyard had the sensor screw right into the radiator, rather than the hose setup like in the diagram. It wasn’t til then that I remembered I had an OEM 87 MJ radiator at home, so I’ll be using that
  13. any 88 XJ should have it right?
  14. This is a continuation from the r12 to r134a thread. For those who don't know, 14 is the plug for your electric fan. You may be in the same situation as me if you or a PO swapped your oem driver side radiator hose for a later model hose, leaving nowhere for the electric fan sensor to go. Does anyone know if/where you can just buy the parts new(talking about 19, 10, 20, 15, and 18)? I'd rather just do that so I have new hoses but if not I might already know of an XJ that has them.
  15. I'm gonna make a new thread about this incase anyone else has the same issue.
  16. sweet!
  17. Does anyone know if you could buy these parts new anywhere?
  18. Yep that looks like it. I might go back to that 88 2 door and get the hose setup.
  19. I have a fan shroud it just wasn't in since I had the front end apart. But that makes sense I think the radiator is the issue. My radiator was ordered from rock auto for a 96 XJ, then swapped into my truck. I'll get a pic tmr but earlier today I saw what I think is that plug laying by the airbox.
  20. While doing my a/c charge I forgot I had no shroud so for a moment my temp got in the red and the fan still didn't kick on. May just be bad tbh, I'll test it out tmr
