I suspect I have a vacuum leak somewhere as when I change throttle position signficantly, the HVAC doors loose vacuum and all the air reverts back to the defrost vent. This is especially noticeable when cruising in 5th gear. Also, when you turn the engine off, the HVAC door motors loose vacuum within a second, and I would assume they would hold some vacuum in the reservoir for longer than that. https://cruiser54.com/?p=121 I haven't inspected my vacuum harnesses thoroughly yet, but I do know that both connections on the valve cover sit at an angle rather than flush, enough to let oil vapor build up over the valve cover over time. My question is could these also be the source of a vacuum leak big enough to cause these issues, or do I need to look for something bigger?

I might try some heavy scotch bright and see if that will allow either of the products I'm using to have the same affect as it did with the other wheels

This is what I used

Ended up deciding it was just really dirty. I used some oven cleaner on it and that helped a lot. After that used some nevr dull cotton stuff and then polished it again. It looks a lot better but it’s still not a reflective chrome like the others

After continuing to polish a lot in small sections I got it looking as good as the other 3 in those local spots. It will take a loooong time to do the whole thing but ig I'll have to.

Did you use a sanding pad on a grinder?

Never tried it before, but went out and got nevr-dull wading polish, mothers mag and aluminum polish, and a mothers power ball. 3 of the 4 wheels I got to what is good enough for me. But one of them, which was noticeably more dull to begin with, came out basically unchanged. Anybody know how I can get this one closer to the rest? these two pics show one of the “good” ones after polishing. before and after I polished the bad one first wheel is the bad one, the other 3 are what I’m considering “good” If all it takes is to just simply keep adding polish and using the power ball until I see results then lmk, but the other 3 didn’t take long to look like that

Obviously my bushing is worn out, but there’s also a small groove worn into the bottom of the clutch pedal linkage. Does that need addressed? And is my set up supposed to have two bushings?

From what I understand, the dryer is the most sensitive component to the atmosphere. So when installing it, is there some technique or will it be fine to be exposed to the outside air for a few seconds while I hook up the lines and get the vacuum going? I don't wanna accidentally ruin it.

https://www.rockauto.com/?carcode=1181674&parttype=17507 In this kit I ordered, the compressor is set up to already have r134a PAG oil in it. So would it be safe to assume the dryer has the proper HPRV and HPCO mounted already?

I just didn't know anything about the HPRV or the HPCO. Is that necessary when swapping to r134a?

No yea literally everything is getting replaced. The only thing in the a/c system that will be old is two a/c lines(the one going from the condenser to the dryer, and the one going from the dryer to the expansion valve). I believe the new compressor will actually come prefilled with the right mineral oil but I'll have to check.

I was under the impression that essentially I could just buy all new components for my r12 system, then change out the orings, and put PAG oil in the compressor then it would be ready to take r134a(with adapter fittings on the compressor ofc). Do I need to do the HPRV and HPCO?

If mine ever starts to give me issues I'll look into it

Just ordered a new compressor, orings, drier, expansion valve, condensor, and two lines. I'm gonna try to make my existing ones work, and if they actually fail then at least I'll know what it is right away lol.

I actually have a second assembly for the brake switch from my parts MJ, I wonder if the plastic sleeve would fit there?

Actually I'm not gonna get that kit from Jeep Air, I can just get each individual piece and it's half the cost by the end of it.

Thats a good point, if I can't find anything I could probably take my old ones to get new custom ones made.
