Thanks. I've always said I'm gonna keep upgrading it and using it til one day it's either gonna go full on beater rock crawler, or gonna make it really nice.

Yeah, for rare parts as long as you can afford it, just grab them, and if you want someone else to get better use out of them, sell them for what you paid for it. And in the case of those taillights for example, if you get them and hold onto them waiting to find someone who needs them, you never know what could happen to yours, then you'll have a spare set.

Oh I thought you were talking about the XJ chrome bumper lol

Yea if there's gonna be any rust it's gonna be the passenger side floor
-
Not sure, that's the one thing I somehow forgot to check, but I got the build sheet from JMO and apparently it was originally a California car. The hood was like binding almost like it was hitting the cowel so I didn't force it, but it seemed like everything was there. Thats what I'm hoping for. I'm confident in the interior bc there isn't a single burn or tear on the seats, those should come out nice!
-
I mean worst case there is some good parts from it, I don't really think I would need any parts off it tho
-
Yea I wasn't planning on going a dime over 1k. Sucks that it's 2wd, but I figured as long as it aint rusty, the Laredo helps make it worth more
-
I finally stopped by to ask about an XJ that's been sitting for as long as I can remember. It's a 1990 Laredo, 2wd automatic. I only was able to take a quick glance, as the owner is currently living with someone else while his nephew is watching over their property. What I'm hoping for is that it doesn't run. Being a 4.0 with 168k miles, I can probably get it running. I'm thinking that the paint might come out decent, but am more hopeful for the interior to come around pretty nice with a good cleaner that I have. - If it doesn't run and I'm able to get it for cheap, what's a realistic price I could sell it for after I get it running and clean it up real nice? I don't want to just flip it right away, I think it could be a decent daily, but if I had to I wanna make sure I don't have more into it than what the realistic selling price is. Also, I think I can get some white fender flares from the junkyard.

I mean I don't see why it wouldn't

What are dak lights? And I just wanted at least one pair of OEM Fog lights. I actually still have the one fog light cover from the Chief which I would assume is also for an ROL
-
Got a few things from Pull-a-part ATL South today. Most significant find was some ROL lights. I remember reading a thread about the 3 different types of OEM fog lights but I don't remember anything about them, besides ROL being most prone to rust, and I couldn't find the thread. I got them off of an 87 XJ Laredo. The chrome bumper was pretty straight and I debated getting it, but they made a custom frame strengthener thing, and drilled right through the front of the bumper to mount it. Center console is gone, pretty sure all of the inside door handles were gone, the door skins were in "usable" condition at least. All of the power window guts seemed to be there. Not really to fond of Dakotas, but they don't look that bad. Here is an LE, with seemingly what was probably every interior option you could get, as well as a v8. I was tempted to get the bench seat, but it's still there if anyone else wants it. I know Dakota lights aren't MJ lights, but would they be worth getting and trying to sell if they are in this condition? Funnily enough this dude rolled up to the junkyard in a really clean Dakota convertible, 1 of 3,759 according to a quick google search. Never thought I'd see one of those.

Recommendations for Speakers
Warren99 replied to Warren99's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I can't really give a specific number aside from cheaper is better, I'm a senior in HS. But I'm in no rush, I bet the sound deadening, and actually having a carpet and rear cab panel thing will alone improve the sound a lot. Eventually I wanna replace the speakers, whether I spend $40 on each pair or $100 on each pair, it's gonna sound better than the either OEM or old cheap aftermarket ones I have in now. -
Recommendations for Speakers
Warren99 replied to Warren99's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Nah IF I got an amp, it wouldn't be for a WHILE. I got a feeling when I have an actual complete interior, sound deadening, and new speakers its gonna sound amazing as is. That and I'd hate to take up even more of the tiny amount of room I have already. -
Heater Core Recommendations
Warren99 replied to Blaine.D's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/jeep,1989,comanche,4.0l+242cid+l6,1181674,heat+&+air+conditioning,heater+core,6864 I got the APDI/PRO one, getting here tuesday, hopefully will be doing that and interior swap this week. -
I have a sony radio I put in my MJ from pretty much day one. The stock or previous owner's speakers sound pretty bad with it. I'm about to actually have a carpet and sound deadening, so I'm sure they will at least be more audible then, but I'm looking for some better after market speakers that will fit without having to trim or bulge the door cards and B-pillars. Not sure if I wanna get an amp eventually, but does anybody have a good recommendation for speakers?

https://www.amazon.com/Universal-Conditioner-CO-4653C-Compressor/dp/B003R4QXG6/ref=sr_1_6?qid=1676651715&s=automotive&sr=1-6&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.304cacc1-b508-45fb-a37f-a2c47c48c32f&vehicle=1989-42-347------------14&vehicleName=1989+Jeep+Cherokee Here's basically the cheapest one I could find on amazon. It looks like the right bolt pattern. Would this work with the right amount of r134a oil?

Gotcha

91 white Eliminator 89 Base model. Nothing rare here, just pointing out the thin maroon pinstripe decal which I've also seen on XJ's. Note this wraps around the tailgate and meets at the tailgate handle.

(Hopefully this upcoming week) I'm gonna swap the full interior in, new heater core and evap core, I'll just leave the evap core capped off. Whenever I'm ready to do the a/c conversion, my plan is this: https://jeepair.com/products/copy-of-1987-1990-wrangler-r134a-conversion-kit?variant=41322890789061 Gonna get this kit, and a new compressor to play it safe. Not sure of the condition of the condensor but if I decide to replace it I'm just gonna get a junkyard one. The lines I was planning on reusing from my 89 r12 system, or the 87 r12 system, whichever appear to be in better condition. So that would make everything brand new except for the lines, and the condensor, which I will be sure to replace the orings in. I have no idea what mount I'm running or what you even mean by that. My truck still currently has the stock 89 4.0 A/C components in it. And I thought people were saying in theory if I knew for sure my r12 compressor was fine, as long as I put the right oil in it I could still use it on the r134a swap. I'm simply asking now because I've pretty much decided I'm gonna get a brand new one to be safe. If a brand new r12 compressor is cheaper than a r134a compressor, and they do the same thing, I'm getting the cheaper one.
-
If I get a new compressor, do I just get one for an 89 MJ/XJ or do I get an r134a one from a later model XJ? Idk if there's a difference between the compressors.

Door Jam Switch Replacement/fix?
Warren99 replied to Warren99's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Cool, thanks -
My factory door jams are really touchy. Most of the time you open the door and they don't work so you wiggle them some and then the lights come on. -Is there an easy fix to sorta restore them? -Is there an aftermarket I could get that fits as oem?

1989 Jeep Comanche Assuming it had a 4.0 since it was an Eliminator, I didn't check though. Not sure of build date Atlanta area as far as I know, the picture of it was taken at Caffeine and Octane Status: Runs and drives on the road Notes: Don't know too much, only talked to the owner for a bit. It's an Eliminator obviously, but it also has the Comanche Bed liner Current Owner: Didn't get a name or anything
-
We went to the Caffeine and Octane event today with my dads Original Owner 97 Crew Cab Short Bed F250. Was not expecting to see this 89 Eliminator. The owner was cool, I got his VIN so I could add it to the registry. I didn't get the best pics, but one thing I noticed was it had an original swb Comanche bed liner.
