  1. There was so much wrong with your post I had to dissect it.
  2. Ha! So the advice to keep the cj distributor with a zj ecm was spot on? For SHUUUUUR, dude! And "junior" may apply to my experience with an MJ but believe me when I tell you that I've been messing with these Jeeps for a looooong time, grasshopper. "Row tahd" anyway, my bammer buddy!
  3. LOL!!! Some of these guys are trying too hard to tell you how something WON'T work to think of how it will. And some simply don't have a clue what they're talking about.
  4. Thanks. I'll use that on mine. My friend has his running now. All it needed was a new computer. All he needed was a new computer with no memory of the old BCM. It runs now It needed a new ecm. Runs fine now.
  5. Thanks for your response. My bad on the "crank" communication. If he uses the cj electronic ignition would he also have to use the cj distributor? And how will the computer detect/adjust for spark?
  6. It turns over but it's not getting a spark. The coil is getting 12+ volts for a fraction of a second then drops to 2.6 volts. Fuel pump runs for 3 seconds then stops. He wired the ecm and sensors up with '95 harness and left the CJ harness in tact. He is sending ignition power to the computer via CJ harness' electronic ignition wires coming thru the firewall just above the brake booster (the CJ electronic ignition has been removed.) Anyway, it seems the security system is in the body control module and the BCM is not sending an "all clear" signal to the ECM. He ordered a new ECM that will (hopefully) have no memory of the old BCM and will (hopefully) work. I will keep all of you posted as I have a cj7 project of my own and want to do a similar head swap on mine.
  7. I like the front bumper. Looks adequate, stout and improves the approach angle big time.
  8. Looks like he "almost" bob-tailed it.
  9. It has an aftermarket fuel pump with '95 distribution. And we think the imobilizer is the problem as well. If he gets an xj ecm, will the zj harness mate up to it?
  10. Yes. He had the factory carb and constantly trying to fix it.
  11. Looks interesting. Are they single port or four port injectors?
  12. Is a friend indeed...... I know I'm wearing out my welcome with all the threads I've started but this one is for my friend. He has a 1984 cj7 and just put a 7120 head from a '95 zj on his jeep. He also has the intake and exhaust as well as the harness. He got a crank position kit from HESCO and installed it on the balancer. Anyway, I went down to his shop most of Saturday night trying to help him get it to crank to no avail. The fuel pump turns on for a few seconds then shuts off and the coil gets 13 volts for a fraction of a second then drops to 2.6 volts. I'm thinking it has something to do with anti-theft or imobilizer function. Is there a way to bypass the imobilizer/security system? tia here's a pic for those that want to see what it looked like.
  13. I'm about to remove my stock bench seat. It's in perfect working condition (slides forward as it should and tilts forward properly) but it needs to be reupholstered.
  14. Hello all. I got an '87 Comanche recently. Also have an '84 cj7, '81 Scrambler and a '94 Land Cruiser. I've bobtailed 13" off my Scrambler and plan to do the same to my long bed Comanche so that it's the same as a short bed with longer wheelbase. Here the Scrambler is: and here's the Comanche.
  15. cool home made tool!
  16. Low. Ride. Errr.
  17. I like the look of it too. The tan looks like my color. Then I'll get paint to match.
  18. Agreed. Needs a mild lift and some 29" Swampers.
  19. Sorry but no. I'm getting it to put a manual transmission in mine so I will need it.
  20. I see a twin stick and another shifter in addition to the transmission stick. Is that an Atlas 4 speed transfer case?
  21. Found some seats today. They were in a '99 Dekota and the guy said I could have whatever I wanted out of it for $50. So I also got the carpet, backboard and fuel rail with 6 injectors on it. Thinking about going back for the 5speed tranny and foot pedal assembly tomorrow.
  22. BTW, here's the link to Softopper: https://www.softopper.com/softopper
