Wheel bearings and locker clunk

Took off the front drive shaft and ran to the store, vibration gone. That's a relief. Just waiting on parts now. -
Wheel bearings and locker clunk
rylee144 replied to rylee144's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Swapped out my wheel bearings and ball joints. Still have a clunk when turning and a vibration starts at 35 MPH. Brought this up in another topic and Pete mentioned the front drive shaft. Crawled under the truck and checked it out. I'm no expert but the u-joints are toast, lots of play. I'm looking at buying the kit below to swap out the u-joints and the double cardon joint. I've watched a few videos online and I think it should do the trick. Advise and comments are encouraged before I buy. Thanks! https://oliversdriveshaft.com/shop/yj-drive-shafts/jeep-front-drive-shaft-1310-cv-rebuild-kit-part-5-1310x-211544x-tj-xj/ -
It definitely could be. ill crawl under and check my next day off. I recall changing one U-joint maybe I didn't do both, would have been a bad decision. Thx

With almost everything in the front being new I was upset to feel a pretty good vibration above 35 mph. Maybe my tires are out of balance. One more thing to address before the big drive.

Had five helicopters fly over yesterday. Pretty cool to see a large group of military might! America!

I bet your right? That thing is long gone by now. If that's all that I'm out after that I'm lucky.

Came out this morning to go to work and the hood on my Comanche was up. Thought that's weird, and saw my battery was missing. I feel somewhat lucky they took the time to unhook everything and didn't just cut the wires. I look down the street and see a crappy old blazer that doesn't belong to my neighbors. I go check it out and the ignition is torn out and my battery and breaker bar are on the back seat, Score! I called the sheriff's office who came and towed the dude's car. In all I'm only out some time to put it back in and they are without a car. Would have been cool if the guy came back while I was waiting but no luck.

I finally got around to figuring my gear ratio. It appears I have 4.56 gears. I got 4.5 rotations of the drive shaft per one rotation of the tire. I have 31" tires. Safe to say that's pretty low for the size of tires. If I didn't have 4 hours of freeway driving to my hunting camp I wouldn't complain as I'm mostly driving in town.

Hard to play hard on a budget. Those look like nice lights. I suppose I'll wait till I can get some better one than what I mentioned.

Hoping to improve distance for freeway speed driving.

Anyone run these? I have the upgraded harness and stock lights right now. I'm headed across the state on deer infested roads soon and would like to see better. https://www.amazon.com/XingMang-Headlight-Headlights-Replacement-Cherokee/dp/B08F4SF2MY/ref=asc_df_B08F4SF2MY/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=475855973431&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=3559198954570006458&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9033419&hvtargid=pla-1064751929273&psc=1

I'd recommend getting the azzy linkage, you'll be much happier in the end then grab the handle portion at a junkyard or ebay. I bought that old z linkage thing and it sucked then spent more money to buy azzy. Might as well skip to that first
