87Warrior - I feel for you. I went through a similar fire back in the late '70s. I rented a barn that looked a lot like yours on land that was slated for development. The house tenant and I were in the process of moving our things out. I got a call to say that the barn was on fire and like you I only saw the aftermath. Fortunately I had already moved my cars (MG's), tools and a lot of parts out. I still lost a lot of parts, benches, shelving and materials. The house wasn't touched. We figured it was kids that knew the barn was being vacated. I couldn't care less about those MG parts today. I feel worse looking at your burned Jeep parts.

Now that the football season has ended I should probably empty out my scrap metal bin ...
-
Ooops … I probably should have put this in the "I needed a laugh :)" thread. Thanks for doing that.

Not Comanche related … but funny.

If you're able to find an original roll bar make sure it's for your long bed. A bar for a short bed MJ won't fit.

I've only seen 2 here in town (pop'n 90,000) including mine. There's a silver one just down the road across from where my kids went to elementary school. He uses it a fair bit but to him it's just a "truck". I saw it parked on the street one time so I pulled in behind and took a pic. Last summer I came out of a store and saw this one (on the left) parked next to me. The guy was just passing through and stopped in to the same store.

I agree. Polishing them wouldn't go well but if you wanted to have them powder coated (not original) they would be fine, but not at that price . I had a set of Moab wheels powder coated for my XJ. I had several to chose from so I took in 2 for a quote, the best and worst ones I had. The shop I went to said it didn't matter provided they weren't damaged. I left those 2 and brought back 3 others. He was right. When I picked them up I had no idea which one was which.

If you end up going with heaters for under the fabric I can vouch for theses ones from Dorman. I just put them in my LJ with Tiburon seats and they work great. It was a pretty straight forward job and I imagine it would be the same for a bench seat. I was able to peel back the fabric enough to install the heating pads. It wasn't necessary to completely remove the covers. https://www.amazon.ca/Dorman-628-040-Universal-Seat-Heater/dp/B002U6IL9O/ref=sr_1_2?crid=KWX4271KRODQ&keywords=dorman+seat+heater+kit&qid=1579866487&sprefix=dorman+%2Caps%2C162&sr=8-2

Again, not familiar with any differences, but I simply don't know. if you pose the question on the TJ forum I'm sure you'd get a clear answer. Many there say that Rubicon LJ's are the holly grail … especially orange ones for some reason (lol). Members often open … "What do you think of this LJ (or?) purchase" type threads. I'm perfectly happy with my "Plain Jane" LJ ...

One thing that the '05-'06 models have that the '04 does not is an oil pump drive assembly (OPDA) that runs off of the camshaft. I have not paid much attention to this because mine doesn't have it. It can be a problem with wear over time. This thread from the TJ forum might be of some help ... https://wranglertjforum.com/threads/what-is-the-opda-and-do-i-need-to-change-mine.80/ Lots of LJ owners there btw!

I haven't heard otherwise so as far as I know they are. Someone else may be able to speak to this. According to the build sheet mine has a "DGBS - All 4 speed Automatic Transmission". Other details are it has a "Command Trac Part Time 4WD System" with D30 front & D44 rear axles and 3.73 gears … all pretty basic.
-
I've had an '04 automatic LJ as my main daily driver for the last 5 years and it's been very reliable. I do the type of driving you do plus I tow trailers (tear drop, expedition and utility) regularly with it and do some light duty off road driving (trails, fire service, etc.). We often camp for a week with a trailer and venture out on trails almost daily while we're away. I definitely turn off the overdrive when I tow, in fact I've got into the habit of turning it off when I start it up and only turning it on when I want it. I've had no issues with the auto transmission or the 4WD.

If you count the number of "stripes" or "ridges" on the lock switch there is 7 of them. Does any one think Jeep did that to match the grill!? Really enjoying your build! You're not holding back on anything.
-
I got my stickers at http://www.jeepsticker.com/ . The guy was great to deal with and his products are very good … and inexpensive … about $15 for the tailgate stickers.
-
Also, on the bottom picture the toggle switches are reversed. The lock button is the one with the vertical "stripes" cast into it. The top one is correct.
-
LOL. You think he would have left his flashers off to draw less attention … if that was possible.
-
In Jeep Driver's pics above the top wheel is an Ecco and the bottom one is a Grizzly. Both are OEM but I'm not sure of the years or models. Both are 15'x7" with 5.25" backspacing. The Eccos came is a few finishes, I believe 2 shades of silver and a darker one generally called Graphite. They also came in bronze but those are rare. I pulled a set of 5 Graphite Eccos off of an original '97 TJ.

Oops! I was too busy admiring your MJ and over looked the obvious. I have the same combination on my LJ and was thinking of doing it to my MJ.

Picking up tires for my XJ … And another sports bar … because you should always carry spares.
-
lol. I don't think my pile of radios is nearly as high as yours! Honestly, when I see a guy selling things like this for as little as $20 I'm just happy he's not throwing it out. I'd sooner put it on my shelf and give it to an MJ/XJ owner in "need" rather than see that happen!
-
I agree with the other commenters … that looks great! What are the lift and tire sizes? As for me, I drove mine on a 3 hr. round trip to buy a $20 radio from an '89 XJ. I needed the drive more than another radio but it was good to get both.

I've never had one fail before but after having one fall out I added checking it to my maintenance list. We used to install a lot of them on customer's cars years ago. Lots of new frost plugs too. We just used engine oil on the heater gaskets, like installing an oil filter. Every Jeep I've owned has had a block heater. I've read that they came standard with Canadian Jeeps. They appear on the build sheets for each one I currently own. On most of mine the electrical cord was never even unravelled. Where you are I'm sure they all were! I'll get into NAPA this week for a cap. Not sure about the aluminum can though. Apart from the price (!) I like to see what's going on … leaks and all.
