  1. I fully understand man. Mike
  2. I'm picking up my AMC-20 tomorrow after noon from a fellow member, yes ill take photos ! Don't I always ;-) Mike
  3. Yup I got a Shortbed 2WD I'm swapping the Metric ton axle and springs/shocks under my truck but the lil'D35 n 2.5er will around 2,800lbs just fine. My truck is: AMC-150 I4 / AX-4 / D35-3.73s I'm swapping to: AMC-290 V8 / AX-15 / AMC-20-4.10s. Should tow 3K-lbs or less just fine ;-) Mike
  4. No malice was intended by the "Maroon" statement ;) :???: Still like to track down this illusive CJ1 I'll randomly see mention of it but nothing detailed, I'd like to know if its a real unit or a myth . . .:dunno: EDIT: http://www.film.queensu.ca/cj3b/poster/CJ1.html CJ-1: The civilian Jeep project began in 1944 when Willys-Overland had some resources to spare beyond war-oriented production. Blueprints had been drawn up by February 1944 and a pilot model, dubbed the CJ-1, was up and running by May. It wore a cast-bronze hood emblem that said "AGRIJEEP." It's clear the CJ-1 was an MB pulled off the line and modified with a tailgate, drawbar, civilian-type top, a spare tire mounted on the passenger side, and lower gearing in the axles and transfer case. According to Fred Coldwell's Preproduction Civilian Jeeps, the factory also tested one or more MB Agrijeeps that kept their standard MB military body but used the 2.43 low range transfer case and had 5.38 gears in their axles. No CJ-1 or MB Agrijeeps are known to survive. Mike
  5. Whoops, My mistake :jump:  Mike
  6. Well Mr. Pat Foster is a Maroon: Jeep Corporation; Type Division of Chrysler Industry Automobile Founded 1941 Headquarters Auburn Hills, Michigan, USA Area served Worldwide So from 1941-1945 Jeep produced No vehicles ? ? ? Mike
  7. Quiet frankly scarlet I don't give a damn It says AMC all over its an AMC to me ;) Anywho back on topic before we hollered at ;) What Jeep would you have ? if you could have any ? ? : FSJ: 1. 4WD Honcho shortbed stepside with J/20 running gear, powered by a 10.5:1 AMC-390. MSJ: 2. 2WD Comanche shortbed, MJ-Metric ton running gear, powered by a 10.5:1 AMC-290. Mil-Spec Jeep: 3. M275 2.5T powered by a 9.5:1 AMC-390 and 11.00R20 tires. 4. M818 5T powered by a 475hp BC-4 Cummins and 12R24.5 tires. Mike
  8. The Renault/Chysler buy out 87', The AMC/Chrysler merger took 88'-89', The Renix is AMC/Renault Hybrid. Once the big wig investor that was set to bail AMC out got shot n killed before funds were transferred, Renualt sold Chrysler their 49% of AMC, The remaining 51% of AMC Merged with Chrysler to get "Jeep" which formed the Jeep/Eagle division of the Chrysler. So yes there are 88' AMC J-trucks, there are 88' AMC MJs/XJs one batch of 89' AMC Wranglers. Given that its well known Cryco renamed AMC "Eagle" then you could say that technically "AMC" wasn't shut down til 98' it was simply operated under another name. As far as AMCers/AMO are concerned AMC was 54'-88' Model years. Mike
  9. :D I like how the AMC model years are the highest, Over double that of the Chrysler years But I guess that could be chalked up to CryCo not wanting a Jeep brand pickup . . . AMC-MJ's: 120,025 units. CryCo-MJ's: 49,674 units. Total MJ production: 169,699 units. Just another reason why you'll never see another production Jeep Truck Mike
  10. Ok, I was comparing Jeeps to Jeeps . . . If you wanna bring in other brands I'm sure Ford n GM at one time or another Trashed Jeep from day one . . . Dodge might even of beat them a time or two even ;-) Point is Jeep did best once scaled down in size and cranked up in power and Technology . . . But I'm sure if you compared Dodge, Ford, GM and Jeep 62'-91' not only will Jeep trail in production numbers they will also trail in technology advancement and body style updates ! ! ! AMC-Car production numbers have hit 300-500K units, So they can and could produce numbers. There just wasn't enough demand ! ! ! Mike
  11. Grand Wagoneer 84'-91': 1984: 22,536 1985: 9,010 1986: 16,252 1987: 15,000 1988: 16,228 1989: 12,345 1990: 6,810 1991: 3,704 XJ-Cherokee 84'-91': 84 - 93,326 85 - 120,328 86 - 107,225 87 - 139,295 88 - 187,136 89 - 207,216 90 - 151,230 91 - 151,578 Thanks for the G Wag number's, The Jeeper's have spoken FSJ vs MSJ . . . The Mid sized Jeeps win ! ! ! Mike
  12. Yep, 30yrs of production and little to no updates = $-) There also wasn't a huge difference between an 84' XJ and an 01' XJ minor details . . . I'm sure the profit marine was nice on the XJ too Mike
  13. Yep in 1963 they were the best of the best and fair ahead of the competitio , by 1983 they were outdated and obsolete dinosaurs trailing a mile behind of the competition . . . True facts all them, the XJ & MJ were the same things just better ! Now Jeep seems to be a nice high tech up to date unit and I simply hate Chrysler so it pains me to give them credit . . . Mike
  14. :D I keep forgetting if it says "Jeep" it must be flawless :D :smart: Mike
  15. I have seen that video footage a few times, I don't think the truck got hit ? Least not as bad as you make it sound anyway . . . But it was a sandy colored truck I remember that much ;-) FSJ's are piss poor jeeps at best Mike
  16. M35 = 331Ci I-6 Gas engine. M35A1 = 478Ci I-6 NA-Multifuel. M35A2 = 478Ci I-6 Turbo-Multifuel. Basically all A1's were MF-NAs and all A2s were MF-Ts the M-# is Gas powered. The sad part of it all is the gas engine trucks had 4mph faster top speed and got there a good bit quicker . . . The MF's all had Over Drive 5spd's and the Gasser got Direct Drive 5spd's . . . Mike
  17. " Post subject: Re: Humvee/Hummer an FSJ ? decendant ? ? " Funny I don't see where I asked you ? ! ? . . . Must have missed that ? ? ? . . . I'm sure you'll point it out tho ;) ! Now I don't really see it being an FSJ or a relative to any jeeps its more or less a larger better version of the M151 MUTT . . . Jeeps tend to be cobbled together out what ever is laying around at the time of assembly, the humvee seems to be rather organized and professional. I guess the professionalism of its design and assembly is what makes it vastly superior to most Jeeps. Mike
  18. AM General and General Tactical Vehicle have Joined up on a joint venture on these Rigs :wrench: Over built "pickup" and an "SUT" Mike
  19. Never fear Hummer is gone, But AM General and the Humvee is still here: http://www.amgeneral.com/ Humvee pickup: Humvee SUV: Mike
  20. 500hp / 900tq from the H1 alpha sure its a Duramax ! 325hp/550tq is a fully built 6.5-Truck engine. 450hp/600tq is a fully built 6.5-Marine engine. Any 6.5 in a truck pushed to 275+ HP has over heating issues and tends to shatter crabk shafts . . . The unlimited cooling of the Marine engines allow for increased power but shortened reliability . . . Mike
  21. You must have ESP ? ! ? ! ? 1979 American Motors General "Humvee" prototype: First production Humvee 1985: Yep you total must have been reading through my eyes ! Mike
  22. AM-General Humvee 79'-Present: Mechanically evolved; AMC-401/AM-TH400/IS AMC-20 (Prototype only) to GM 6.2-NA/TH400/IS AMC-20 to GM6.5-NA/3L80/IS AMC-20 to GM 6.5-T/4L80E/IS AMC-20 to AM-G 6500/AM-G 4L80E/IS AMG-20 to AM-G 6500/AM-G 1200/AMG-20. Structurally evolved: expanded payload/towed loaded Capacities to minor n major body restyling. Technology advances: GPS/Radar/Armor/ect . . . The civilian AM-G Hummer 92'-99'/GM-Hummer 99'-10': Mechanical updates: 6.5-NA/3L80/AM-20 to 6.5-T/4L80E/AM-20 to D-Max/4L85E-Alison/AM-20. Technology/Structural Advances: GM-H2/H3 series added 02'-10'. Sharing common chassie/power train/axles plate forms of product vehicles. What did the FSJ get for updates ? 63'-91': Structurally: Grills n headlights. Roof line alteration: brows n brow less. Mechanically: TH400 to TF727. Kaiser/GM/AMC engines to AM-power. Dana/AMC to Dana/Dana Parts availability and service ability would have to awarded: #1 Humvee. #2 Hummer. #3 FSJ. I guess when broken down, All 3 Rigs differed greatly . . . So not an FSJ ! ? ! ? ! Mike
  23. :smart: Credit ! ? ! Lol what dose Jeep need with credibility ? ! ? :dunno:  By now very one is well aware jeeps are :wrench: cobbled together built with a little of this some of that :wrench: and a lot of whatever  I just think that Jeep should buy up the Hummer brand rights ect giving Jeep free rein to do as it pleased. A joint venture with AM-General could lead to some amazing products in both the Military and civilian sectors. Increasing the chances of a new Jeep pickup truck for us ;) Mike
  24. AM General history: http://www.amgeneral.com/corporate/history.php No where dose it say GM owned any part of AM General LLC. Here read under "hummer": http://www.amgeneral.com/vehicles/ Only thing that WAS GM is the engine/transmission which they now also own the rights too Via GEP or General Engine Products corp & General Transmission Corp, The Humvee and Hummer H1 used aluminum castings of the AMC-20 center section . . . Mike
  25. Here is where I get my FSJ thinking of it, The M715 is grouped in with the FSJs. Now Kaiser jeeps General products division is AMC Jeeps AM General division, same people same plant same company different name . . . I also think the AM715 n variants should also be classified in this as well. The Humvee isn't exactly a Mid size or a Compact ya know ;) Mike
