  1. The Humvee is proto typed 79'-81' and was sent to uncle sam for testing in 83' 50K units got order and started production in 85' - present. Now giving AM-General was the Commercial/Military division of jeep, AM-General was sold off slightly after/before the Contract for production. So the Humvee and AM-General were under ownership of AMC/Jeep during that time so by technicality wouldn't this make the Mil-spec Humvee and Civilian Hummer an FSJ ? As AM-G produced the 97'/99'+ H1 n 2 for GM sure, but AM-G owned "HUMMER" product line from 92'-97'/99' So why couldn't Chrysler/Jeep have picked up the Hummer line? Just a thought ? ? ? Mike
  2. Nice looking Jeep's to bad 2 out of 3 were burried in snow, But if that MJ had a set of tires like mine on the rear I bet it'll drive right out of where its sitting. Mike
  3. Oh you'd be impressed what my 2WD-MJ will drive through . . . But I'm not swapping to 4WD instead I'm swapping the I4 / 4spd / 3.73 for a V8 / 5spd / 4.10 combo ;) ! This should be my MJ's last winter ! Mike
  4. If it wasn't for a good work ethic, Die hard shortbed 2WD MJ and a good sense of humor I wouldn't survive  Mike
  5. I love my job Basically 5 months of the year, My job is to be out n about when the roads are NOT safe ! When the temps drop dangerously lo ! ! When winds are brutally strong n fast ! ! ! That's my job, Shovel until death ;-) Mike
  6. Sweet ! ! ! I'll check it out right now ! ! ! Good lookin out Mike
  7. It gets deep: I got to go and work today ! Yep sure did ! ! Shoot me ! ! ! Feel like I been ran over ! ! ! ! Sore n Tired Mike
  8. I bought my Comanche to build a V8 mini truck with out doing another S10/S15 or Ranger/Sonoma, It ended up becoming a back up driver for my K2500 diesel . . . Once I sold the diesel the MJ became the primary/daily driver ! This winter will hopefully be it last then it will get repowered and used a daily summer driver ;-) ! Mike
  9. Heck ya Comanche Short bed ! 2WD/4WD they just plain look cool ! ! Mines a 2WD tis why its getting the V8/5spd swap ! ! ! Mike
  10. Shoveling/pulling out stuck cars and so on, Oh and staying with the wife n kids ;-) ! Been down here for the winter then once kids are finish with the school year this spring/summer, We plan to move to them to the madison area :-) ! Interesting life I live . . . Mike
  11. AMC-MJ Snow: Nothing cool to post I missed the cool shots trying not to get stuck or die, I love showing my MJ off ;-) ! Mike
  12. Nice ! Bombing around in an MJ ? ? ? I'm already drifted in can't tell I even left the lot ! Mike
  13. 7:00am I got the notice to head in for snow removal, 7:19am I got a message saying "Do NOT attempt to get here" now here is the kicker . . . I didn't get the second message til 8:09am ! So I fired up the Jeep Comanche and started clearing it off, thawed and warmed up I head out of the lot which is 1-3ft deep ! Make it 6miles slipping n sliding before I notice I had the second message. But I went another 2 miles to get to an intersection, read message reply to it then travel 8miles back slightly aggravated to have shoveled out and drove 16 miles round trip for nothing . . . Due to cellular delay ! Another mile or 2 and I would have been on open hi way where my only challenge would of been not getting blown off the road vs fighting wind and snow . . . Roads n lots littered with stuck cars n trucks . . . Gotta love the capability of a 2WD short bed Jeep :-) ! :-) I'm driving the M275er next winter ;-) ! How bad is it around you ? Mike
  14. 4,000LBs ! ? ! Some how I don't my short bed 2WD Comanche weighing no 4K-lbs . . . The GVWR is 4,550lbs the pay load is 1,475lbs . . . Your talking a 3,100lb truck ;) ! Now like I said this truck is not the unit in which the 2.5er will be used its just currently pushing it around for now ;-) ! I just like this 4 banger enough to rebuild it and reuse it in another Rig. Mike
  15. Ok, because I had a friend rebuild a fuel injected 350 for his truck and he increased his compression from 9.3:1 to 10.1:1. It set off his "knock sensor" which retarded his timing as it thought it was pinging . . . So I wasn't sure if this EFI system was as sensitive ? Mike
  16. Well I wanted the AMC-20 with 4.10s, but I figured with the D44 then I could go with 4.27s. I could use an MJ 44 and 4.27s ;-) ! Unless you got an MJ AMC-20 with 4.10s that may get a set of AMC 4.44s ;-) ! But I got more to do before I get a rear end Mike
  17. My truck is Configured 2.5/AX-4/D35 with 3.73s, it hasn't had any power issues til recently but its got 197K miles and counting, This truck is a shortbed 2wd :-) Like I said this MJ is getting repowered still doing the AMC-290 V8/AX-15 5spd/D44 with 4.27s combo . . . So for now once the 2.5 comes out it'll get moth balled. Til I find a chassie to put it in :) ! I am thinking an AX-5 / 4.10 combo will be used behind the 2.5er in its next life. I figured being that I will have to rebuild it any way why not "tweak" it a bit while its apart ? So bore it 30 over, bump up the compression, and open up the head some ect. I would like to know how these mods will effect TBI system ? I'm assuming the EFI can be separated from the truck harness ? Mike
  18. What I was thinking how "primitive" this EFI is pre OBD-1 as I'm told cause nobody can libk to it aka plug in to it. Could it be bored .030 over and the compression increased from 9.2:1 to 10.0:1, then port n polish the head put it back together and have it run on the OEM injection system ? Mike
  19. I love my 2.5er once I repower my Manche, I would like to keep the 2.5 around maybe I'll get or build another MJ or I could repower another brand with my AMC big 4 popper ! ! ! Mike
  20. I know its the quickest 4 banger truck I have owned but I never thought of it as racing mill, but giving its 20-30hp jump on the big 3s big 4s I guess it all make sense. I was wondering about rebuilding it and keeping it around just in case I wanted to use it again. Mike
  21. What is available for rebuilding/building up such an engine ? . . ? Can the compression be increased ? With out affecting the TBI system ? Mike
  22. I'm very impressed with the abilities of a 2WD jeep it has out most the 4WDs in met on the road this year :) ! I can't wait to see how this Honcho will perform . . . Something about Jeeps, even the 2WDs seem very capable in slippery/Mucky/Snowy messes ! How did Jeep get their Rigs to out perform the rest ? ? ? Is it a purposely engineered ability ? ? ? Mike
  23. Lol must be nice, My 2WD Manche is rolling through her second winter and do it with no rear brakes :) ! This was going to be my MJs last winter further cemented by the upper door hinge pulling out of the cab post . . .last winter indeed ! ! ! Plus V8 2WD no weight n snow = Bad idea ! Mike
  24. I kind of like having a 2WD jeep its kinda cool being different ;) ! Mike
  25. Its been a long day/night worked a side job for some cash then we get dumped on with some snow so into work work I go . . . Shoveling walks n stoops then salting it all down . . . The tosses some cash for fuel on top of my snow removal wage so I use good ol'AMC MJ ;-) ! Well tonight my door open hard a couple times hitting the fender then it shut really hard, door sticks out like 1/2" from were the fender sits I'm guessing the Hinge pulled out of the Cab like my 62' did years ago ;-( ! I'm going to repair it, Yep you read that right I am going to fix it ! Now if that isn't a Jeeping problem I don't know what is ! ! ! Mike
