  1. Mainly because I had seen it done this was successfully before and hadn't seen anyone use the '97 style setup. If I had to do it all over again, I probably would have tried to incorporate those brackets, but I've been riding on this setup for almost two years without issue, so I'm not going to worry about it. If I could weld, I would have done many things differently. And if I had started out building this truck from the beginning, I would have done some things differently too, like newer style XJ seats, but I wasn't going to toss the older style ones that I paid good money to recover. I've learned a lot along they way and know that I may not have done everything the "right" way, but I'm still pretty pleased with the outcome.
  2. Thanks! Its been a lot of fun and I still have a wish list of things I would like to do with it, so I don't think it will ever be "done."
  3. I got a welder for Christmas and I'm starting a welding class this week. I work for a community college, so I get one free course per semester. I've got rocker guards and and guards for the rear bed sides in mind.
  4. Are those plug ins for engine block heaters? I've lived in the south all my life, so I've never seen anything like that (the plug ins, not the snow).
  5. Ditto. I love seeing something slightly different. I love Ravines to begin with, but the gold is going to work great with your paint scheme.
  6. The one app I have been using more frequently is the app from my cable company. I use it as a remote DVR so that I can record stuff I forgot about when I'm not at home.
  7. I used to have one of those too! Good luck moving forward with your new found work space.

    Tj Sun Visors

Obviously not for a Comanche, but my recently acquired TJ doesn't have any sun visors. I found brand new ones for $70, but I don't feel like spending that much and I don't need new. Mine is a '97 so I would need them from a '97-'02.
  9. "I am going to raise the price on this rig every week until it sells so you're better off not to wait." Seriously? What's wrong with this truck? I have seen it for sale more times than I can count and not all from the same person.
  10. Send me a PM with your address and I'll take a look at them when I get home this weekend.
  11. I have no idea what they're worth. $30 shipped?
  12. Its nice looking, but not that much.
  13. I've got a set just sitting in the garage. I can pick them up this weekend and have them shipped out to you Monday.
  14. I paid $5,500, but it needs some work. A couple big things and some smaller things that add up. The next cheapest 4.0 with AC that I could find was $7k and it needed everything. Wranglers seem to hold their value very well around here. Hopefully I can turn a small profit in the spring.
  15. SRT-4 seats! I loved those seats when I had my '05. How is the seating position in the Comanche?
  16. I waited I think 16 weeks for a paint job once. That was a long wait.
  17. My interior mod has shipped..... 6 to 10 business days to go.
  18. Its a '97 Sport 5 speed with A/C and that's it. I don't mind the color, but everyone keeps telling me its girly. I just put four new to me tires on it (Yokohama Geolanders, 30s). I spent all day Saturday cleaning the interior. I de-greased and pressure washed all the carpet. Vacuumed and wiped down the floors and cleaned all the interior plastics. It was rather gross. I'll be putting a new soft top on it with tinted windows and I'm going to get the doors and and hood repaired. Both doors have been dropped and the hood looks like someone danced on it. The rest of the paint is in good shape and the seats are fantastic for 157k miles. Then I'll drive it for a couple months and sell it when it gets warm. I like it though. i had forgotten how much I enjoy driving a TJ. This is my 4th TJ, but its been almost two years since I had my last. I'd kinda like to try an LJ, but I've never spent that kind of money on a Jeep (at least the purchase price).
  19. Still on the modified MJ tank. One day I'd like to swap it out. Without the slosh pan, I can't let it get too low or it will start to buck, so my range isn't very good right now.
  20. Mike, I just noticed in your first couple pictures that you had a factory light bar; what happened to it? Also, the Mopar interior paint that you used, how has it held up? I have some interior panels on my new TJ that are faded that I'd like to re-dye. What prep work did you do on the panels before spraying? I'm assuming it was pretty expensive since it came from the dealer.
  21. It might not be vacuum that's the problem. Mine did the same thing. It could be the blower motor resistor. Its about $40, but it can be replaced without pulling the box. I fussed with mine forever before someone recommended it for me. It looks like a nice truck and if the conversion is already done, that's even better. Time for a paint job.
  22. My folks got me a welder. I've never welded anything before, but I've always wanted to learn and I can take classes for free at the community college I work for.
  23. Look what followed me home today:
  24. Haha! Not yet. I have nothing to show. Its been ordered, but since mine is the first, it will probably take a little while. Hopefully I'll have something to show in a couple weeks. You guys are probably going to be disappointed; its not that big of a deal.
  25. I love the look of the bumper, but I really want more protection for the rear bedsides. Good job Mike.
