  1. I bought my MJ a while ago and have been messing with it ever since. I’m finally getting around to starting my build thread and due to recent changes I also need to get around to changing my signature. When I first got the truck it had front end damage ( looked like the driver side had hit a tree or something) that had some what been fixed by the previous owner. I’ve got to track down early photos of the truck. So what I have is a 1990 Jeep Comanche Pioneer. When I first got the truck it had front end damage, the radiator was half full with sludge, and the head was cracked. It still ran and drove, so I replaced the neutral safety switch and a park/blinker socket to get all the lights working and ended up finding out from the first inspection it didn’t have a cat on it. Don’t ask how I missed that detail, I don’t even know the answer to that. I went to a local tire shop and had a cat put and got my inspection done. The next day I went to the dmv and got the Comanche legal. I drove the truck to work for a couple months and then parked it because it was very sluggish and had really bad bump steer. I took the head off to have it rebuilt and this is when I found out that the head was cracked. The Comanche sat for a couple of years while I was in pursuit of a donor vehicle rather than just a head, so I could have a dedicated parts vehicle. I found a 1993 Jeep Cherokee country for pretty cheap and it only had rear body damage (backed down a hill into a tree). I ended up pulling the motor, transmission, and transfer case as one unit and put it into the Comanche. I decided since I had completely stripped the Comanche to do some front end repairs I would also swap in the computer, wiring harness and everything under the dash. So, I now have a 90/93 HO Comanche. Fast forward another few years, I got the throttle body bored, put in 12 hole injectors, and I forgot to mention the Spectre cowl intake I had put in while the Jeep was still a Renix. This past year I have regeared to 4.10 for my 235/75r15s, while regearing a did the one piece axle shaft swap from the parts Jeep. And just last week I did a cam swap to comp cams 68-232-4 cam with there lifters and timing set and put in Mopar Performance valve springs, 99+ intake swap and pieced together a new stainless exhaust that dumps right behind the cab. I recall the lady I bought the Cherokee from saying that the engine was a junk yard engine and it smoked a bit and burned oil. When doing my recent work, I did indeed notice that the engine was a 94 engine and the engine had been completely rebuilt, however the head gasket was seeping a bit. So my original plans of building a stroker are on hold. I have also welded on the hooligan off-road hinge supports and have so far modified the driver’s side door for quick disconnect and repaired the strike on the door frame ( do to separation of the top hinge the striker was tearing away from the body as well. I think that’s it for now if I think of anymore details I will add them along with any pictures I can track down. to be continued...
  2. “Timken” not “Tinker” stupid autocorrect.
  3. I have less than 1000 miles on my hubs, and while removing them, one separated on me. I was trying to remove them because the inner axle seals went bad.
  4. I’ll be taking a good hard look at it Thursday. I’m hoping it’s the thermostat. I just changed the gears in it last weekend, seals and wheel cylinders were going bad so I figured while it was apart. Thanks guys
  5. I’ve been having an issue with heating. My gauge doesn’t go passed 160 on temp and my heater doesn’t blow hot. I’ve also noticed a hint of antifreeze smell but no coolant in the floor board. Any ideas?
  6. Nice, looks like you’ve got something decent to start with. I like it.
  7. If you have another one, I’ll take one.
  8. I’ve been putting a bit of time in my IWI Tavor SAR making it more SHTF ready instead of just being a cool looking stock Bullpup rifle. I also use it for Missouri white tail. I’m sure a lot of people will tell me .223/5.56 is not a good round for deer hunting, I’ve heard it a million and a half times, but I’ve been hunting deer with that caliber for over ten years. I get one shot kills every time, however if I don’t have a clean shot, no matter the rack size, I just watch and hope it makes it until the next year.
  9. I see. I just saw what you meant in the throttle body section.
  10. Nicely done sir, I wish I had the time and money to do an LS swap in my truck.
  11. They still have them here http://www.infiniteinnovations.com/main.asp?p=4_179 go to the lighting section, accent & mood, and they will be in the incandescent section. I think 5 or 6 products down.
  12. Okay, that did the trick. It seems as though the lock doesn’t want to disengage all the way until you play around with it. It felt like it was unlocking, but I felt the switch/button move a bit further when it actually did unlock. Looks like I have just added more to my “Spring time tear down and rebuild” list. Thanks for the help. My brother in law and I were both trying to get the door to open for a bit yesterday and eventually gave up.
  13. Thank you for the response. I’ll go give it a try and let you know the results.
  14. Yesterday I locked my doors. When I got back I unlocked them and the passenger side will not open. I think I have an idea of what I need to do, but I figured I would see if anyone had dealt with this issue before and if they have any tips, tricks, or suggestions.
  15. I’m sure there’ll be another time. I’m getting ready to tear my truck back apart anyway. I’ll be trying to start a build thread for it soon.
  16. I work rotating 12s 6am to 6pm
  17. I should have checked the calendar before I asked. I’ll be working that Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
  18. Is the map showing that you are stopping in Springfield, MO on the 1st? It’s about an hour drive from my house, but it’s also where Bass Pro’s story begins.
  19. Nice work. I’ve got to ask, how much lift did you get out of the back with your swap? I’ve some Super Duty axles that I’m trying to work on and wasn’t quite sure how much I’ll have to lift the front. Keep up the nice work. I’m looking forward to seeing your progress.
  20. Thanks for the response. It’s what I was looking for, since I really don’t want to have to tear things up if I don’t have to. I did look into some of the factory holes in the rails with a flashlight and the most I saw in there was a few speckles of surface rust but nothing as far as pitting or rot. Stopping what has already started and preventative measures for future problems is what I’m really aiming for. Thanks for the suggestion. I will be looking into borescopes now. Now I just need to get the cab leaks taken care of so I can start working on the rust.
