Eagle is correct. 97+ 8.25 axle would be the best choice... since it’s 29 spline (stronger than the previous 27 spline version). And like he said. Even 27 spline 8.25 is still better than a d35.

8.25 with 3.55 those 4 cylinder with 4 speed manual transmission had 3.55 stock

I still would say it’s 4.56... the way i look at it. 4.0L with AX15.... 3.07 4.0L with AW4..... 3.55 2.5L with AX5.... 4.10 2.5L with AX4..... 3.55 It would stand to reason that it would be 4.56.

I was told they were aw4’s. I think cruiser was the one who told me. Interesting though

If you do the 4cyl with the aw4. I think none of the axles you have would be a good combo, considering (I believe) that the factory ratio for 4cyl/auto would be 4.56. i have seen a couple of XJs with that combo & ratio. so that leaves the option of 4.0L drivetrain with 4.10 gears if you plan on running 31’s if you plan on keeping stock tires, but plan on hauling a lot of loads... do 3.73’s otherwise do the 4 cyl with ax5 & 4.10

LOL you could made an adapter plate out of a 1/4 thick plexiglass.

Depending on the orientation. You may only need to raise one end slightly. Unless you are anal about keeping the holder level. Lol

I apologize for getting bit late on this the distance between two mounting holes are 4” apart. The mounting holes on the block is diagonally. Not sure how your ANL are mounted in regard to orientation.

They had different switches on the steering wheel for certain years in the 97-01 range. You may had gotten wrong ones.

Indeed. It look much easier to modify a 97+ header panel with fiberglass than its to build a complete one from “ground up”
