  1. Speak for yourself, Matey. That pile of excrement sure isn't anything I've been asking for. It certainly isn't a successor to either the Comanche or the J-trucks You have to read this statement as a whole, there is a "but" in there. We've been asking for a truck, this is the truck we are getting that doesn't hurt Chrysler. It's a compromise. This is very true but it's built for the American market, in the American market it doesn't need to be a real workhorse anymore. Like I said above most trucks these days are used as grocery getters and passenger vehicles. Not one person I know actually uses their truck for real "truck work" I'm sure for this to sell well in other countries that still use trucks as workhorses, it won't sell great unless it is actually capable and there is a smaller 2 door option that comes out. We have to remember that this a Jeep and it has been surprising what kind of capability they can create in these unlikely and small packages. Yeah it may look kind of funky but if it performs well, why does it matter that much? Aren't all Jeeps funky in their own way?
  2. I'm confused, what's the point of being able to add attachments but only up to a total of 500kb? That's a total of like 1 picture. Are there plans of expanding our attachment capabilities? I know that requires more data storage but can we expect that to come or do we need to continue to use other hosts forever? If we aren't getting more space do we really need to keep the attachment option? It's very easy to miss-click it on mobile.
  3. Haha .... Up until 1 minute ago..
  4. One thing I wanted to add is that I don't look at this as filling a hole in the "truck" scene. This is built for the "Jeep" scene. Open tops have been apart of Jeep since the beginning. Yes not all the trucks had an open top but the earlier military ones did and the original Scrambler did. This is a Jeep built for Jeep enthusiasts looking for more cargo space, this isn't for the "truck guy" looking for a replacement for his old workhorse Silverado. Along those lines, most trucks these days aren't used in the same way they used to be. These days they are more like passenger vehicles (or a way to show how much a guy needs to compensate). They are sometimes used to haul grass to the compost or to move a couch for a buddy and that's about it. They aren't used the same way the were back when Jeep produced trucks and I see no reason why this wouldn't work well for most "city folk" who own trucks today. Currently there is a gap between a Jeep and a truck that I think this will fit nicely. Chrysler probably won't build a Jeep branded truck that would be considered a "real" truck because that would compete with the Ram. This gives us what we have been asking for, but in a way that won't hurt any of Chrysler's product lines. The sad truth is that there probably won't be a "real" Jeep pickup unless Jeep is sold to another company, or the Dodge pickups are discontinued. Both are highly unlikely. For now, this is the Jeep truck we get and who knows, it may outperform your current expectations. We can speculate all day long but we will just have to wait and see what this truck will truly be capable of.
  5. Well said. I too agree with most of what Eagle says but you have to look at it from the perspective of today.... ...No matter how old you are. Non of us in this thread are Millennials. lol
  6. Right. That's not the point I was making. My point is that the name Scrambler suits it for what it is. As far as it being a truck, yeah a full roof is characteristic of a truck but it will be nice to be able to take it off if you wanted to. Overall the frame of this truck is way longer than the Unlimited and I'm sure the bed and cab will be separate parts. I look at it as Jeep being Jeep. They are different, Jeep doesn't conform to what society expects in a vehicle. It's a more utility based platform designed for function over form. I understand what you're saying and I do think if Chrysler took a Ram and put a Jeep logo on it, it would sell like hot cakes but the logo doesn't make a Jeep a Jeep.

  8. It may not be like the original scrambler in the sense of styling but as far as what it truly is (jeep Wrangler pickup variant) it is at heart a scrambler. It's the same as using the new Cherokee to create a new Comanche. It's based off what they had at the time. Could you imagine them using a Liberty to base the new "Scrambler" from? That would just be weird. I personally like that they are calling it the Scrambler. I hope they come out with more options than just a 4dr diesel.
  9. This makes perfect sense. I really like the idea of secondary control with the switch. I will definitely do something similar. Thanks!
  10. Thanks man this is exactly what I needed! I had an extra tray but ended up needing it in the 95 XJ I bought. I was worried it wouldn't fit with the radiator cap and computer on the fender. All the pictures and videos I had seen before showed either no rad cap or no computer there. Even Dirtbound's bracket says it requires moving the computer. I read through your thread a few times but for some reason missed this part of it. I like the way you have it set up to jump start yourself but I have some questions about it, how exactly is the solenoid wired and how does it work with the switch? Also what happens if the second battery is dead, does that mean it can't charge since the solenoid won't have power? I have been busy with other things but this will now be on the top of the "to do" list. Dual Blue tops, here I come!
  11. Well as I may have mentioned before, I started to get some slight vibration in the driveline of the truck. I knew my pinion angle was off (6* at the t-case and 13* at the yoke IIRC) but when I first started driving it, I had no vibration so I left it alone. Its been about 2 weeks since I first noticed the vibration and I finally got around to fixing it tonight. My lift came with 6* shims so I had them on hand, I just was waiting on new u-bolts to show up. It took a couple hours but the shims are now in and the new angles are 6* at the t-case and 7* at the yoke. This is pretty darn perfect and all the vibrations are gone! Luckily my u-joints aren't damaged. The rear end even feels tighter now that it was apart and back together again. The biggest thing to note however is that it still does burnouts really really good and I realized that for some reason with the open diff, both tires spin and leave marks. The gears look to be in good shape with no binding and the wheels turn opposite one another when off the ground. I must just have some magical ghost limited slip or something. Anyway, I didn't take any pictures yet but those will be coming.

  13. Check grounds, especially the one behind the drivers taillight. That should solve the issue but If it's not a ground issue, you've got a short somewhere.
  14. You will get popping and hopping when turning hard in 4wd. That's driveline bind due to the front and rear trying to turn at the same rate but going different distances. The question is, how tight of a turn are you making in 4wd when it happens?
  15. Is there any way we can fix where the thread opens up to? On the old version, if you reopened a thread you had previously viewed, it would start you at the most recent post. Now it starts you at the beginning of the thread. This is fine for short ones but for longer threads, scrolling constantly is annoying. I haven't checked to see if it does this on desktop but it does it on mobile for sure.
  16. Thanks, that was quick!
  17. The words are covering the pictures on mobile. It makes it hard to read depending on the picture.
  18. I love this picture. Looks like it should have been a Jeep advertisement!
  19. One thing I noticed is that on the mobile site, it's difficult to tell which threads you have not looked at yet or ones that you have commented on (before the text was in bold and highlighted if you hadn't opened it and a star was next to a thread you commented on). They all look the same on the main page now. Edit: it's working now.
  20. Wow this looks great on mobile! It's clean and pages load much quicker. It's gonna take some getting used to the changes but they are for the better. Good work!
  21. I'm right there with ya.
  22. I finally got some time to do some more work on the truck. I focused on getting the interior finished up. The solder joints on the drivers side switch panel were all redone. Now the passenger window can be operated from both sides of the truck. The biggest change is that the headliner is no longer in the truck. It started to sag and was really annoying so I just took it out. I forgot that I had bedlined the roof and it looks better without the headliner. I plan to leave it without one. Since the headliner is out, the dome light didnt have anything to attach to so I had to relocate it. I took advantage of it being apart and modified the factory wiring harness to tie in my b-pillar lights. It now has all the interior lights in place and functional. They were all also swapped to LEDs except for the floorboard lights. I was able to reuse my bracket I had made up to attach it to the headliner. Now it is just clipped over the inner roof sheet metal and doesn't move. I can pull it off easily if I need to and just shove it back on with no tools. The wiring is visible in the cab but it's all split loomed and tied nicely across the back of the cab. Since the dome light and wiring is all run to the back, I can use the holes up front between the visors to mount a CB whenever I get around to it. Sent from my HTC U11 using Tapatalk
