  1. The RENIX injection/ignition system is very simple (not complicated) and extremely reliable. Correct. And there's plenty of support on Comanche Club for that system.
  2. See the "connector refreshing" post in my link. There's a note about a connector in the engine bay. Good place to start.
  3. New gasket? Sure it's sealing?
  4. I didn't fix 'em. You did!!!
  5. Post that diagram up. A switch so you can get to the side of the road? Never read about that in any owner's manual, and I've read every one from 1980 through 1992. .
  6. Unfortunarely, the number of sensor ground wires seems to have changed throughout the years. Check them with an ohmmeter to ground and see what readings you get.
  7. Did you read that he has head lamps when he hits "Flash-to-Pass"? That means he has power to the dimmer switch. The both of you fail at diagram reading then. There is another contact inside the signal switch that bypasses the high beam switch. It's there in case the HB switch blows so you can see to get to the shoulder of the road. Right.............................
  8. Did you read that he has head lamps when he hits "Flash-to-Pass"? That means he has power to the dimmer switch. That requires READING before RESPONDING. No wonder he missed it.......
  9. Where did those single wires go before?
  10. You throw out crap that most times doesn't apply and is off the subject matter. You're back-pedalling now, you know. I feel we are here to help others, not lead them astray with off the cuff crap that wastes their time. Where am I backpedaling? I read he altered the TVS which was fine before it started acting up. He re-checked and it made no difference. On to the next thing. PS: Mine was recently shifting weird because the TVS cable was frayed at the throttle and sticking in the sleeve. Not that this is the OP's issue. Wrong, as he has stated. More bad info from you attempting to send poor folks on a wild goose chase. Normal stuff.
  11. He already swapped the dimmer switch with a known good one..........
  12. Sure. http://comancheclub.com/topic/36911-96-brake-booster/
  13. Please enlighten us.
  14. Way more technical than you need for sure. MY point is that without an EGR there with a pintle on it to stop the flow of exhaust into the intake manifold is only half the equation. What's happening with the exhaust that's travelling into the intake manifold with the EGR absent?
  15. I'm agreeing. I'm thinking carnuck is throwing out useless random crap as usual. Your line of thinking is spot-on.
  16. OP, here's a link. I've got another one if you want it. http://comancheclub.com/topic/34793-dual-diaphragm-upgrade-part-question/
  17. Power could be getting lost at the C100 connector just to the left of the master cylinder up undeer the dash. Light green wire from the dimmer switch runs there.
  18. Stick with your original plan. Spider gears going away are usually accompanied by lots of noise and jerking. Don't get off on any other tangents til you've pulled the CAD cover. You could have a bent fork, broken roll pin or something. Keep us posted.
  19. Good idea. Usual symptoms are a hunting idle also. But, with their limited lifespan probably a good idea to change it as you did. Need to look and see that the wiring harness isn't pulled out of it or the wires melted on the exhaust manifold.
  20. Well maybe if you read more and responded less, this crap wouldn't happen. Think about that.
  21. You throw out crap that most times doesn't apply and is off the subject matter. You're back-pedalling now, you know. I feel we are here to help others, not lead them astray with off the cuff crap that wastes their time.
  22. In post #1 he said he thought he had a 207. He mentions the lever when going from 2H to 4H. That's NOT a 229. Here's an idea. Quit guessing about stuff and muddying up the waters for the original posters. Their time and money are valuable to them and it doesn't need to be spent chasing down your rabbit trails.
  23. I'm very familiar with the operation of the TPS and the TV cable. I was Service Manager and Shop Foreman at a Jeep dealer from 1980 through 1992. I grew up with these Jeeps since they were new. My concern here is how you throw out inaccurate tidbits of info to unsuspecting posters and lead them astray.
  24. Really? A 229 is engaged by vacuum between 2 and 4wd. 4L is then selected by a lever. Have you decided to drop in and spread more false info to the folks looking for real answers?
  25. Please explain to all of us how adjusting the TV cable affects the TPS adjustment. And, how would that affect a wet TPS? And, who said the TPS got wet? Do you purposely respond to people's posts hoping to send them down a dead end road? I'm totally baffled by your off-the-cuff nonsensical responses. How is this helping anyone?
