Chrysler 8.25 disc brake swap
cruiser54 replied to 88whitemanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You'll need the prop valve from a Cherokee with the "guts" in it from a Grand Cherokee 94 to 98. ORRRR, you can ditch the prop valve that's on there, and the one in the back for height sensing. Then, marry the front brake tubes together and use an adjustable prop valve for the rear. -
Headlight harness upgrade
cruiser54 replied to Sir Jacob the 2nd's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Cruiser’s Headlight Upgrade Harness Instructions It's easy to install a supplemental headlight harness. From the factory, the voltage to the headlight bulbs travels from the battery, inside the cabin, to the headlamp switch, and then back out to the lamps via undersized wire. It's not uncommon to find only 10.5 volts at the lamps. The supplemental harness is installed so that it provides battery voltage to the lamps and is just triggered by the factory wiring. The result is about 30% brighter headlamps and headlight switches that don't melt and burn out. Absolutely plug and play. Remove grille and headlamp bulbs. I fed my harnesses from the passenger side starting between the battery and the back of the headlamp housing, over to the driver side. Plug the driver side bulb into the new harness. Attach the new harness's ground wire under one of the small bolts on the radiator support after scraping the paint off under it. Attach the harness to the existing harness behind the grille working toward the passenger side. . Plug the new harness plug into passenger headlamp. Plug original headlamp plug into receptacle on new harness. Attach the ground for the passenger side just like you did the driver side under a radiator support bolt. Attach relays with provided bracket on the passenger side inner fender. Connect power wires to battery. Revised 12/10/2012 -
The bottle...... It will fail or the cap will fail leaving you stranded. Ditch that setup and the heater control valve.

LOL. I was really hoping you knew of an easy way to do discs on a 44!! I need brake shoes on my 90 so I think I'll just replace them. It has the upgraded booster anyway. -

Seriously. 44 is the only one that needs spacers etc. -

35 and 8.25 don't leak without spacers. I've run them for years. -

Disk brake conversion is the same process for both axles. The only major difference is in adapting the backing plates to your particular axle flange. What about some spacers for the bearings? -

ZJ to Dana 35 or Chryco 8.25 is a walk in the park. Dana 44 to disc not nearly as simple. -
Excellent!! Thanks for posting this up.

Yes. That was written by my brother. Thanks.

Pause to remember… Barbecues, picnics, and holiday events, Fireworks, flags, bunting on the fence. Families gather, friends hoist a glass, Do they pause to remember events from the past? Do they see in their minds a grassy expanse, With white marble stones and flags that dance In the wind that caresses the names engraved On the stones that mark every single grave? Row upon row they stand in formation To honor those who defended our nation. They battles are done, the fighting is over, Their resting place covered in green grass and clover. It’s so peaceful there, the sounds of war done, The only reminder is the sound of the guns, That fire a salute to the ones who lie there; A tribute of honor to show that we care. Did I stop to count the blessings I’ve got? The cost of the freedom that these souls have bought With the price of their lives, the supreme sacrifice, So that I could live in a country this nice? I’ve vowed to remember with thoughts and tears Those who are laid to rest every year, Lost in wars and conflicts and “limited engagements” I’ll honor them; I’ve made that commitment. When you see the flags that are flying today Will you please think about pausing a moment to pray And give thanks to our veterans, living and gone To honor their sacrifice and all that they’ve done? can't get brakes to bleed
cruiser54 replied to Lee21490's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
So, just how did you measure the booster to master cylinder rod adjustment? What if the piston isn't coming all the way back in the master? This isn't an "eyeball" measurement, but a precise measurement. -
Does it only have a bypass oil filter mounted up on the driver's side of the cab?
-
Wow. So, when you were checking for power at the pump connector it was still plugged in? And no, should not be loud.
-
Should be a spin-on on the passenger side. Look at the switch on the throttle at the injection pump.

Engine block and performance upgrades questions
cruiser54 replied to Sevik's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'm not sure those knock sensors are so sensitive Impulse. Many cars use the same one. Even on my supercharged Miata they just had you use the hole for a motor mount bracket. It worked fine. -
Should not be. Open up the harness below the fuel pump relay socket. i opened up the harness below the relay an orange wire is strip but its not touching anything is it possible something could be grounding under dash? 30 should be power from the battery via the latch relay 86 is ignition power with key On 85 is the relay's ground to the ECU 87 is power to the fuel pump Power goes through the C103 connector by the RH shock top. Flat 6 wire connector. Then through cC00 on the firewall side of the fusebox Then C119 behind the driver's side kick panel. 10 wire connector.

I've seen HO blocks up to 96 with the threaded hole for the knock sensor. -
