Updated: cooling problems and less confusion

I prefer gauges so I know what is going on. I leave the idiot lights in because when it flashes it gets my attention. -
Hood lock and/or kill switch

The first thing a thief looks for if the starter doesn't work is a anti-theft device of some sort. Better to have the starter engage but not let the engine start. I have mine rigged up so that I have to hold the cigar lighter in or it won't start. -
I used to open bottles by standing in front of the spinning prop of a aircraft. Would stand in front of the prop and slowly ease the bottle closer until the prop caught the cap and sent it flying. Worked great until that fateful day I sneezed just as the cap and prop was making contact. First liar ain't got a chance.

will 2001 XJ 4.0 motor work in my 89 Comanche

They will work just fine. However, if you have a complete engine. why not just swap engines. -
It just doesn't get as cold in Canada as it does in Tampa Bay, therefore making it much more difficult to form and maintain a ice rink for them to practice on. Either that or Canadian women's boobs are more distracting than American women making it harder to concentrate on skate practice. :dunno:

When was the last time anybody here saw a set of High Compression hub caps for sale?? :dunno:

My Grand dad bought bought three of those in 1946. They were being sold in lots of three to keep the little folks out or some inane reason. It cost him $75 for all three. He had to drive from Joplin, Mo to Ft Leonard Wood to get them. That's what I learned how to drive with, as well as every kid in the family. He used one as a tractor to plow with and one as basic transportation. The third was up on blocks behind the barn. When he died I made a special trip from Co to Mo to see about getting one. When I got there all three were gone and nobody knew what happened to them. I drove by the place in 1987. It was abandoned and the forest had reclaimed the property. A shed he had built out of the shipping crates was still standing, although starting to sag a little bit.

A tread that wide really increases the odds of picking up a nail.

Or else! This is usually added at the end of a sentence, or threat. Not me. Most often used by a child when questioned by a parent.

Cracks in metal around back glass

I once mounted a "Sports bar" on a '62 AH3000 I had. After about the tenth time I banged my head on it I removed it. :fs1: -

I think you answered your own question -- Roll Bar. People don't put roll bars in vehicles they drive to the Quik Mart three times a week. The provious owner probably wheeled the truck hard and the roll bar wasn't stiff enough to prevent the body from flexing. You need to get the cracks drilled at the ends and then TIG welded to prevent propagation. Eagle Sorry Eagle. Gotta disagree with you this time. Many peeps mount roll bars just for looks. Their truck will never leave the pavement. -

I once installed a set of rubber connecting rods in a souped up engine. When the piston hit the cylinder head the rubber would give, saving the head and piston from damage. -
They just don't make tie rods like they used to.

Curious as to how you can increase stroke with a longer rod. The piston is going to travel the same distance in the bore depending on the stroke. Not rod length. Or is this the new math they're teaching in schools now? -
I'd like to see a perforated oil filter for cooling. :hmm:

Speedometer cables work great for feeding into tubes, pipes to clear them out. Put one end into a variable speed drill. Start the other end into the pipe. Work slow so the cable doessn't start whipping.

Some week end when I wasn't doing anything I would come get it.

After the 'Little' hail storm here a week ago I have 9 MJ'S, 4 XJ's, 1 ZJ, 1 Dodge 1500 and a chevy needing new windshields. Insurance is paying for 1 MJ, 1 Dodge and the Chevy.

You would think so. Never heard a murmer out of it.

For the last couple weeks the Jeep was hard to steer. Really had to put some muscle in it.I got the daily driver in the garage rebuilding the engine in it and this is one of my spares I had out in the yard. Today I finally got tired of it so I got the new pump I had and popped the hood to replace the old one. Removed the cap and THE CYLINDER WAS BONE DRY..Poured some fluid into it and it steers just fine..Not sure which I felt the most. Stupid or p*ssed off. That was one of things I harped on most when teaching a new mechanic. Check the obvious first. Never thought I would admit it but must be getting old and/or absent minded. :fs1: At least I caught it BEFORE I swapped pumps.
