  1. If possible it's always better to get a complete donor. You can check everything out and make sure it's working that way. No matter how careful you are if you buy just the parts you think you need, you always forget something. Another trip back to the JY. You can sell parts you don't need.
  2. Seems like the whole dern country is burning. Was out on the porch watching the smoke and having a cold one. I'm far enough out on the prairie I don't have to worry about it much. Just the limited visibility and wood ash on everything. Feel sorry for them folks getting burned out. Offered to put up some livestock if any body needed it. Got 8 horses coming out tonite and 6 more tomorrow. :dunno: [/img] I give up. Been trying for over an hour to post some pics.
  3. Try it and see. If you don't like it, you can always swap back.
  4. Those hoses are so old and brittle that even if you do find one it would probably fall apart when you try to remove it. I suggest you measure the diameter of the hose and length and see if you can't find one from a later model or even a parts or appliance store. If you get really desperate let me know. I may be able to find a useable one out my scrap pile. Gone thru 6-7 '84-'86 Xj's in the last year or so.
  5. Nice hole. You gonna stuff something into it B4 you cover it with duct tape?
  6. Thanks all for the input. Don, You are a veritable well of useful info. Thanks. I picked up a '89 long bed MJ, 4.0 5 speed without axles a while back. As long as I have to replace them thought I would go with something a little beefier. Didn't know about the IFS. Well see. When I pulled up the floor mats I found wear marks on the paint. Bummer. (Loves to rub it in on the rust belt boys. :fs2: Jay, After reading your link to Pirate, Good article, I'm thinking I'm going about this wrong. I have several axles out of late '90's and up to 2005 Grand cherokee's. I won't have 4.** ratio but I will have stronger, matching axles. Right now I have a '98, 2003 and a 2005 Grand Cherokee that's been rolled but still run. Other than drive them around the yard to check out how they run, I haven't touched them yet. Was thinking about swapping out the complete drive train, 5.2 or 5.7 with auto into a MJ but from what I.ve read it's to crowded. Must be getting old, A couple years ago that wouldn't of even slowed me down. LOL.
  7. Going to take a look at a 1996 Isuzu Rodeo, 3.2, auto, 4:31 axles. Thinking about pulling the axles for a MJ swap. Not being familiar with the Isuzu or the swap, Other than what I've read here, would like some feed back on whether it's practical or to forget it. I'm seeking your opinion on this.
  8. :huh???: I have '74 vette frame and suspension. I don't have a Viper, Mustang or Jag. And yes, 'Back in the Days,' I had a '41 Chevy convertible with a '58 Jag IRS.
  9. A '83 thru '93 S10 tail gate handle will not interchange with '86-'89 MJ. Those are the only years I have so can't speak for the others. The mounting and the linkage is different. They could probably be made to fit by swapping everything.
  10. I once told my wife that the dress she was wearing made her look beautiful. She looked me in the eye and informed me she was naked, and then accused me of never paying attention to her anymore. :shake:
  11. :agree: I really kind of expected, maybe the guy would contact me and see if we could work something out. He didn't, yet. Wonder how hard it would be to take one of the '89's i got and replicate what he has. Could probably do it for a lot less than a couple grand.
  12. Soot isn't so obvious against a black background. :hmm:
  13. Is it possible to block a puter from a site? I went to EBay and the ad wasn't there/ Went to searc and typed in '89MJ. Search returned nothing. Used the Link Pete sent and went right to it. Something fishy here.
  14. I searched and couldn't find it. Usually when I went to EBay the ad was right there. Anyway EBay doesn't know what they're doing. I just got a email from them. Getting all excited thinking I had won. HA! They wanted me to raise my bid because I had been outbid. I followed there link and found the ad. Only one bid. Mine. They want me to bid against myself. :shake:
  15. It seems he may have pulled the ad, for whatever reason. It's gone.
  16. Whats' worse? To get something and then find out you didn't really want it? Or don't get it and then wish you had? If you've got it and don't want it, you can always sell it. If you didn't get it and then want it, tough. There isn't another one around.
  17. Got a AX4 behind a '86 2.8. See no reason why you couldn't find one and swap yours out.
  18. Drag Net 'Dum de dum daaaaa' in the background.
  19. Has anybody here, or know of anybody that installed a Corvette IRS under a MJ? Or even a XJ?
  20. I loosen the mounting bolts, put a jack under the low corner, Raise corner until level, tighten bolts, lower, remove jack.
  21. Yeah that would be good, but since we're 1300 miles apart, it might be a logistics problem. Hey,,No problem. We'll go 50/50. You pay for the gas and I'll burn it. The gas. not the truck.
  22. Already got plans for it.(Don't count your chickens before the eggs are laid) First thing gonna do is paint it and cover all that graffiti up. :rotfl2:
  23. D*mn,,,,and I was trying to keep it quite.. :shake:
  24. One thing I did to help get the bolts thru was grind a point on the bolt. Bullet nose if you will. Only had to do it on the two bottom front ones. Was no problem getting them started but after going thru the bushing they wouldn't line up with the second hole. The pointed nose helped.
