  1. Excellent idea.
  2. What inner rockers did you use? Sent from my LGLS992 using Tapatalk
  3. How's the rust on it? Sent from my LGLS992 using Tapatalk
  4. No, I'm referring to the panel that is wedged imbetween the floor and outer rocker on the can. Thanks, though.
  5. Are you guys modifying XJ inner rockers for MJs? I haven't been able to find an inner specifically for the MJ. Thanks
  6. I've got one...pretty common. 4cyl equipped Jeeps had em. Sent from my LGLS992 using Tapatalk
  7. I think that will be what I end up doing. Going with aftermarket floor pans and then cutting out little odds and ends from the XJ. Sent from my LGLS992 using Tapatalk
  8. Yea, I guess my main concern is quality. I figured that, even if it required more work, the quality of the XJ floor would be superior to repop floors...and free doesn't hurt either. Sent from my LGLS992 using Tapatalk
  9. Pennzoil Synchromesh was recommended to me by Rockland Standard Gear where I bought my Jeep Termimator transmission from. Seems to be holding up after 55k. Sent from my LGLS992 using Tapatalk
  10. Has anyone cut the floor out of an XJ to place in their MJ? My MJ floor ia pretty jacked up and the XJ donor I have has a perfect floor. Repop floors are not expensive or anything but is it worth trying to use the XJ floor? Sent from my LGLS992 using Tapatalk
  11. No techy or anything so just throwing this here to BS a little about my upcoming project. Been getting things lined up to do a 4.0 swap on my 2.5 equipped MJ. I bought the truck with 60k original miles but it had sat for 20 years untouched in a damn field next to a damn pole barn. Why in the Hell couldn't he have moved it over just 20 feet!!! Anyways, paint is rough and interior is scorched from years of sitting in direct sunlight but it's virtually rust free (drivers floor needs replacing but that's it). I drove it for a year after getting it running (a battle in its own right) and was orignally okay with the 2.5 but I just couldn't get the mileage I wanted. I babied it and only managed 19mpg with stock sized tires and a light foot. My LJ in bone stock form was able to get 22mpg and had a helluva lot more oomph to it. I know I probably could have squeezed more mileage out of it had I taken the time to go through everything but I found myseld scouring CL ads and found a 1994 XJ with a 4.0 that ran for 500 bucks. He wanted a grand to start with but cash talks. Anyways, also picked up an AX15/NP231 from another 94 XJ on CL for 200 bucks out of a running XJ. So here I am now, sitting at work at 4am, thinking of the swap ahead and just how far I want to take it. On one hand, I want to drive my damn truck again. On the other hand, I wouldn't mind having a sharp little MJ that woukd turn heads. Money and time are not really an issue, just trying to decide how far I want to dig into it. I already have the interior pretty well dimantled and my plan was and always has been to get the floor fixed up and then fix up the interior a bit but the XJ has a very nice interior. So, the plan changed to swapping the interior of the XJ over, including the tach dash, tilt wheel, etc. Then I thought I'd pull the windshield and back glass and reseal them Since I know the front is leaking and figured I'd do the rear while I had it out. Then I got to thinking that would be a great time to paint it. So many decisions. I think I will play it by ear and just see how I feel as I progress. One day I want to just swap it all over as quickly and cheaply as possible and the next day I'm ready to make a damn rotisserie and go nuts. The latter is the plan I keep going back to more and more. I have decided that I will go with a factory tan color that has been offered by Jeep (Goby was one and there have been a few others). I love surf fishing and camping on the beach and I have dubbed the MJ "The Sand Crab" so a tan exterior would be fitting. Just typing this out makes me want to go crazy and just do it! Alright, that's enough for now. lol Sent from my LGLS992 using Tapatalk
  12. Thank you, sir.
  13. I may have missed it, but who makes that crossmember?
  14. Expensive, but thought I'd share it anyways for some motivation. http://www.fourwh.com/product/fleet-flat-bed-popup-truck-camper-tray-tacoma/
  15. Very cool. I will be using this for a reference. I just pulled mine into the garage and am doing a similar swap. 2.5/AX5/NP231 to 4.0/AX15/NP231. Not sure how far I'll go body wise but I sure would like it to look as nice as it runs when I'm done.
  16. Finally pulled the MJ into the garage since it is cooling down somewhat (80's today...lol). Not sure where to start exactly. Thinking that I will drain all the fluid and pull the drivetrain. Once that's out of the way, I'll pull the interior out (using XJ interior) and replace floors. Should be easier with the tranny/xfercase out of the way. The next step is a complicated one. I want to replace windshield and back glass gaskets and probably the windshield since there is a slight crack and I'd rather just be done with it BUT that's also a good opportunity to get the thing painted. Lots to decide at that point. Do I want to paint it? If I do, what color? If I choose a different color other than what it already is, do I paint the firewall and all that crap the same or just do the engine compartment black. Bla bla bla bla Lots to think about it.
  17. I have a friend who does HVAC and said that it's not worth it. All my welder friends love their jobs. Sent from my LGLS992 using Tapatalk
  18. Picked up a 1994 XJ for a 4.0 swap and also snagged a AX15 from a 1995 XJ with external slave. Sent from my LGLS992 using Tapatalk
  19. And the sickness continues. I have to move piles of crap (engines and axles) I've been hoarding for years out of the way to make a spot to set the XJ next to the MJ while I swap everything over. I was totally cool with the 4cyl but then one day I just snapped amd said I wanted more power. When my '06 LJ feels like a rocket ship after driving the MJ, I knew something had to change. 20. Guilty. In my defense, I secretly apologize when I hop in it for a cruise. Lol Sent from my LGLS992 using Tapatalk
  21. I picked up my Comanche after it sat for 15 years out in the open in a field. Been daily driving it for a little over a year now but it's going down for some upgrades as we speak. I ended up having to install a whole new fuel system (tank, sending unit, pump, filter, throttle body rebuild) and a few other small things but that was the big one. Runs good after that and I have about 6k miles on it since I picked it up.
  22. My 87 AC box is pretty rough. The AC hasn't worked since before '94 according to the PO and when I got it out, all the foam was garbage. I'm considering taking time to go through with some foam from Home Depot that is used for sealing a window unit to a window sill but it's a good deal of work. Still, if I have to do it, I will. Any other options for foam?? Next question. I'm looking at a 95 XJ 4.0/5 speed/4X4 for parts that runs and has working AC. Will that box bolt up to my firewall? Sent from my LGLS992 using Tapatalk
  23. I was unable to get all of them off and two broke. While 3 would likely be sufficient at holding it, I'd rather replace them. Anyone know a source? Sent from my LGLS992 using Tapatalk
  24. A pic from work of the MAanche creeping on me from an abandoned power plant. Sent from my LGLS992 using Tapatalk
