  1. If you are looking shackle-lift your MJ, I think a great way to go is extending your pre-existing shackle. I welded flat bar on the outside of the lower portion of the shackle, and put a washer on the inside to compensate for the width. Looks hardy, and you can get whatever amount of lift you want by taking the amount of inches desired and multiplying it by two for the length of your extension. Quite simple.
  2. Yesssss. Thinking about not doing any rear lift right now with 3 in the front, but don't want too many guys hitting on me.
  3. The front looks gnarly. How far's the back lifted now?
  4. It is similar to what happened in 1912 with William Taft, Woodrow Wilson, and Theodore Roosevelt running for president. Taft was the Republican president, and Roosevelt was Republican and didn't like him, so he ran against him. The republicans split their votes and the Democrat, Wilson, won. Together, the votes of the two Republicans had the majority, but people were split, and one Republican accidently sabotaged his own party. That's a simile. Anyways, I like the rollbar. With which roll bar to go with is a toss up, but I voted custom, cause I like the lines of it with the bodylines more.
  5. Would someone please take a pic for him? I'd do it, but the previous owner of mine cut off the top to get to the fan easier (idiot). Help your fellow MJ owner.
  6. Haha, nice. Stencil or what?
  7. Sounds good. I think I'll bastardize, and for any extra lift height, I'll extend my shackles. Already relocated my brake line bracketry, and the engine comes in Friday. Feels odd, like I'm doing this all backwards, but this is how I have to do it right now.
  8. What's the thought on making new spring hangers?
  9. I needed some more lift than the 1-3/4" lift spacers I bought, so I went back to the suspension shop, and asked em about stacking spacers. They recommended changing coils. They happened to have a set of 3" lift coils they took off an XJ that were only on for a week. I bought em for $100, basically new, only the truck won't start with a 20" lift due to having new springs. I guess they sold them for $160 to the other guy, so I saved a little money. 3" lift in front... just swap the coils? Do I worry about brake lines or links or anything? Here's the real question area... the back. To start things out, I'm pretty poor right now. I want to try to match the front end lift too. I have an extra set of leafs I took from a different suspension shop's trash pile. I don't know what they're from, but they're the same width as an MJs. Can I take a leaf out of that and bastardize my leaf pack for the lift? My dad thought a different idea could be to drop the spring hangers. Weld on lower hangers for the shackles to hang by and for the front of the springs to hang by. How's this idea to you guys? A 3" shackle lift I think'd be too big (I can make them myself, so no price problem), but any thoughts on this? Do they make 3" lift springs, or is it AAL? A reference photo for the spring hanger idea. (Not a good one though, lol) Image Not Found
  10. It was on NAXJA. The guy has the taller spring perches so it gave him a 1.5" lift, like using blocks. Don't know the axle. Guessing the springs don't move due to 100+ ft/lb of torque. It's a real simple design though, if you're planning on putting new spring perches on anyway. I'll probably be trying it on my Toy this summer.
  11. Yeah us! :-D
  12. Cause they're made by Chrysler. :D
  13. Don't want to thread hijack, so would someone be able to PM me if they know anything about the that AW style set up for a 904? Or who I could talk to that would know?
  14. Here's a cool option if you need to put new spring perches on. Don't know how far off the XJ ones are, but if it's enough, you put a second perch on and use regular bolts instead of u-bolts so you don't have anything hanging under the axle. I saw it on NAXJA, don't know if it's popular. I guess it's called a u-bolt eliminator.
  15. Happy b-day! I turn 18 on the 25th of April!

Since this is the non-Comanche section... Curious what everyone listens to, cause I'm curious like a cat. Since I'm 17... I listen to mostly metal, but dab in the punk, hip-hop, and alternative scenes for flavor, all of which I'm allowed to do. Don't let this thread die with no responses. I really wanna know.
  19. Whaddya know, Pete... the rollbars angled forward... wonder where that came from... Looks downright ace.
  20. I brought in a coil to a different shop. They matched it up to a set of 1-3/4" spacers for a TJ. Fit perfect, said to bring em back if there were any problems. $33 for polys. Glad you guys let me know. I've gone to the overpriced shop a few times to dig through their dumpster and bounce some custom ideas off of em for my Toy. Never bought anything there. The guy's super nice, but... Thanks again for the help.
  21. Wow! I just realized I forgot J trucks existed. The guy up the street has his J-20 on 35s. It's beautiful. Like a Napa machine shop, or what? I want free stuff! Me and my buddies always go to the exhaust shop and dumpster dive. We get bends that are brand new, just not what they wanted for that particular thing, and use em on everything. A bizzilion exhausts done and counting.
  22. Wow. What's the 40" of weld for? I've got a lot of little questions about it. Gonna do a post in the projects section when you finish?
  23. Dirty, what's up with the Comanche in your Avitar? Getting anywhere with it?
  24. Yeah, I think I agree with Pete. It'd be a good swap, but $250's kind of alot. I got my whole Toy for $300; I'm sure you could find a wrecked, bad motor, or bad tranny, 2wd Toy for cheap or very close to free, and just pull it off there. Or spend the $250 and get an 8.8 off of an unknowing person.
