Comanche Rear Fender Liners
1992EliminatorSWB4x4 replied to 1992EliminatorSWB4x4's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks Hornbrod, yes no liner but rear flares have a black plastic inside/behind the bed that attaches to the actual rear outside flares . Will try to find #7 and #8, which might prove impossible, If I can get them off in one piece maybe I could fiberglass cloth them with fiberglass rosin. Thanks again fellows. -
Comanche Rear Fender Liners
1992EliminatorSWB4x4 replied to 1992EliminatorSWB4x4's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Hornbrod, are pieces #8 and #9 the black plastic pieces that bolt to the rear fender flare studs or is it #7 and #8 for the black plastic pieces pieces that actually go inside the bed and bolt to the inside fender flare studs. Correct there are no liners just these pieces, mine are cracking/splitting. Thanks. -

Hornbrod, thanks for the p/n on the front liners. I googled and could not locate any rear liners. I will buy both fronts. At least my liners made it for 23 years of service. -

can't get brakes to bleed
1992EliminatorSWB4x4 replied to Lee21490's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Have you tried reverse bleeding the system. I have a $20 reverse bleeder that works well on all of my vehicles. There will be no air in your system by reverse bleeding. Check Ebay. -

Great looking useful equipment. I agree on a work place garage is never large enough. Have fun !!!

Would be nice if the very low geared transfer case has been changed with the 4x4 conversion update. Those Aircraft tugs were extremely low geared. Ebay # 281964230331

This week I had a new windsheild installed in my 1992 Eliminator Comanche. Mike's Auto glass in Montgomery AL. did a great job. They installed a new 1997+ Cherokee windshield that uses the rubber seal (One piece) that surrounds the glass and goes over the edge of the glass all the way around it. I like it better that way and it eliminates the black metal outside trim and clips. They did not have to cut off the posts that hold the clips on. It fit perfectly. I was very pleased with their work. Took about one hour while I watched them do it. Rear view mirror mount is a little bit higher and I like that also.

oil pan gasket install under truck
1992EliminatorSWB4x4 replied to sinkrun's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I also used the blue plastic guides with fel pro gasket. I put the gasket on the block with a bolt in each hole with a flat washer on the engine and put a B.B. size dab of sealant under the gasket beside each hole but not in the hole. I also let it sit overnight before installing the oil pan. Worked great on my 92 4.0 liter. Good luck. -

radio removal factory
1992EliminatorSWB4x4 replied to 1992EliminatorSWB4x4's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Radio bracket tab was reinserted. All is well and a working radio again. My original factory am/fm cassett radio would power pop and reset all radio functions after about 5 minutes of playing. I downgraded to a am/fm with no cassett now. But everything works properly on it, A factory jeep Cherokee radio been sitting in storage box for 20 years. Hooray. clock and all bulbs are working also. Thanks for your inputs fellows. -
radio removal factory
1992EliminatorSWB4x4 replied to 1992EliminatorSWB4x4's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Disregard, after removing 75% of the glove box and lower valance screws I gave up on removing the glovebox, that is not easy to remove. Gave the radio a tug and out it came easy peezy. Ground strap is just a black flexible wire . Now to put it back together with another factory radio as I have 3 spare radios So mission accomplished. -
Radio R&R factory . In have the black plastic benzyl off of the dash and 2 screws on the radio front removed, Do I have to remove the glove box to get radio out? Need a little advice on getting the radio out, I know there is a ground strap on the rear of radio and antenna plug. Not easy for me. Thanks..

ComancheClub meet-up in Birmingham AL (postponed?)
1992EliminatorSWB4x4 replied to Pete M's topic in The Pub
If you go on Sundays to the "Creek Casino" in Wetumpka AL. the brunch meal is free for military active duty and retired military and their family's with a valid military I.D.. Might keep that in mind also. I would show up for a Montgomery or Birmingham AL get together. -
I am with Hornbrod on his picture of the green Jeep P/U in his post above. I would sell my 92 Comanche Eliminator and buy that awesome green prototype and still be Jeep Happy..

A warm 77 today in Wetumpka Alabama, ground is saturated. Got the new rear main seal installed today on Christmas, hope I can get the oil pan back on tomorrow, not easy with front axle still hanging there, Oil pan did come off by jacking frame up and disconnecting lower shock bolts, and sway bar links, wheels still on but off the ground. Wish me luck tomorrow getting the oil pan back on, it will not be easy. Oil pump installed but I will price a NAPA new one Saturday if open.

Hornbrod, thanks again for your assistance. I just ordered the clips and nipples. Lots of good stuff for sale at Team Cherokee. I was not aware of them, now they will get more orders from me for sure. Bill
