i know its kinda thin becausde i runout of wires already. the recently pic is more thick and better beads layers That most recent weld is looking good
-
that weld looks kinda thin :dunno: you may wanna spend allitle more time and double up that weld because I'm not sure how much that will hold... just go alot slower and don't just go straight across rock up and down at the same time to get a nice thick weld. those little beads will hold stuff together, but you don't want to weld to crack and the whole piece to fall off. :smart:

-

that bumper didnt cost me anything :brows: i just went and dug throug the piles of scrap metal and found that pipe and some plate steel. got it alll together and put some d hooks on it (we have a whole bucket of them  ) then i wanted a hitch so we welded the hitch beneath it. so i got the bumper for about 4 hours of work :brows:
-
haha he made my bumper like it was nothing with a mig welder and its some thick stuff  i can do some decent welding but anything like this i let the old man handle it :rotf:

the lens is only four screws even i can take those off without screwing up ;) clearly you don't live in the rust belt. :D ahh i always forget I'm the odd ball on CC :shake: but yeah actually the first time i took my lenses off the screws were rusty and i replaced them with stainless screws so that helped :D i feel for you guys though i have a rusted out 75 maverick and 64 ford pickup so I'm due for my share of welding :ack:

i have a set of wing windows i want to install on mine too. i havent really looked into it. anyone done it? :dunno:
-
yeah my dad has been welding for 30+ years and still can't do the prettiest work in the world with just a flux core mig. you need argon to get something really pretty
-
gotchya. yeah i thought about taking my tumbler out and sticking in a random key then grinding all the prongs off the tumbler, but i didnt want to do that the the ignition, gas tank, and helmet lock. so i just took it to the smith and got robbed :shake:
-
its a shame to sell it :dunno: but on the bright side, you have done so much to this one that i think its time to start a new one anyway, so even if the next one isnt an mj i would love to see a build thread on here. you do great work  good luck with the sell

thats the same kind of bike as mine. did you just replace the fuel cap with an aftermarket one?
-
yeah i love those orange parking lamps where did you get them?

i have another gas tank question. my fuel pump went out and i have been haveing leaks ever sence. it started because i didnt have the thingy that holds the fuel pump sealed right. i got that tight and it stopped leaking so bad, but then the same piece has a little black thing on it (i guess its a vent line). it was leaking really bad too so i put jb weld around it for a temporary fix. i need help :ack:

oh! and also i have a rear end from a ford explorer in my back yard. how hard is it to do a rear disk conversion while I'm at it? -
i wish mine were that simple :ack: yamahas have a really weird key and the blanks are harder to find than the arc of the friggin covenant. if i would have told a smith that this thing was from a desk he would have told me to throw it away and buy a new one :rotf:

yesterday i made it my goal to find somone who could cut me a new key for my motorcycle. my brother gave me the bike and it didnt have a key with it. i got the tumbler off of it and started calling every lock smith in the yellow pages. noone in my county made bike keys nor did they know of anyone who did. finally i found a locksmith who told me about another locksmith who would make the keyy. i gave him a call and he verified that he could make it, and asked where i wanted to meet him. it turned out that his shop was a van so i was going to have to hunt him down. i left my house to find him around 1 and called him to get directions to the middle of nowhere. i found him in a huuuggge parking lot that is used for auctions. he was the only person in this 30 acre parking lot. it was a very shady situation to say the least. i parked and walked up to his van to find a guy with a gun on his hip sitting in a van making keys. i gave him the tumbler and he quickly made two keys for the bike without saying much. i asked him how much it would cost and he told me 80 dollars  i scrounged through the mj until i found 77.30. he took it and sent me on my way with two keys. it was quite the adventure

i figured they would do that lol :fs1: funny side note lol a long time ago (before i was even a twinkle in dads eye ;) ) my dad had a friend with a kawasaki bike. he bought tires with a lifetime warranty on them so every weekend he went to the drag strip and burned them up haha brand new hind tire every week. that only lasted a few months though lol
