1991 short bed metric ton DD build
mikekaz1 replied to mikekaz1's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
I think I dig it! When the time comes to fab up a front bumper I'm likely to mimic something like that over a "stinger" hoop-style... Great pic too . :MJ 1: . thanks! gotta love fall time! I much prefer the pushbar / brushguard style over the stinger look. -

A fall poser shot before the front end gets ripped apart and the plow installed. -

Honestly don't know... came with the truck when I bought it. Its MJ/XJ specific as the mounts are perfectly angled for the bumper. But the uprights are narrower then the frame mounts. So it really only mounts to the bumper skin. No real frame reinforcement. So it actually would probably suck in an accident or something. -
attention all MJ/XJ plow owners

I have the mini console. And I REALLY don't want to drill holes in that as they are so hard to find. I think I'm going to just run it where I have it. And if it really bothers me. I'll switch to toggles on the shifter plate -

For what its worth... this is pretty much just going to be used for my driveway. Not plowing commercially or anything like that -

Mine has the clock panel. I do have extras though... I could toggle through that. Hmm so currently its either upper clock panel or shifter plate.... other then where I have it now. -

Plow wiring installed. And controller mounted. Haven't figured out if I like it there or not. But I used an existing screw hole so its not immovable or damaging to the dash. -

I have a Meyers plow I'm putting on my MJ. But I can't decide where I like the controller (slik-stik) best. I have it mounted just to the left of the lower HVAC and don't seem to mind it. But haven't actually used it at all either. Just curious where you've mounted them

should just be 194 wedges, pretty easy to find. put green LEDS in mine

eliminator was top? registration it comes up as an eliminator on my 1991 is a 4.0, auto, 2wd, short box, crank window no air no cargo lamp ....... I guess it is possible they de-optioned an eliminator but id find that odd to do

a 33 vs 32 inch tire is a 3% difference in rotational mass (given the same width). 32"=311RPM vs 33"=330RPM would 32 be better yes. would it be noticeable? probably not

I di have the aw4 and thanks that actually some really good info! I know mine has the 4 hole vacuum switch in the back. so that may be able to just be unscrewed and then the electric 4wd sensor screwed in? correct,

I have a zj low pinion in my mj..... it works, no noticeable difference in drivability. -
I don't care that much, my TJ light has never worked either. but was curious if the electrical wiring was even on my MJ since it was 2wd. or if the renix 231 had a electrical switch or could even have one installed
-
231

1991HO 2wd converted to 4wd with renix tcase. Is it possible to get the 4wd dash light to work? How does it actually function? I've never noticed a switch other then the speedo going to the case on any of my jeeps. Being originally 2wd would that wiring even be there?

Well here's something new

I wish the bolts broke on the passenger side ( or never at all ) . Good to hear it's happened before though , thanks . Yep. Not alone! We used a reverse drill bit -
I was not aware of this.... May have to take a second look at the 242. Not quite. WJ's use wheel speed sensors not t case sensor. So there's no port cast out. It may be possible to swap cone but Idk. And a 242 is a 242. Just that. All years are essentially the same. The one your thinking of is a 247/249. Both of which don't have a 2wd option. Only 4all-N-4lo

the second number in NP designations is the strength code. Low->high / weak->strong So in fact a 242 IS stronger then a 231.

I know in 95/96 this was an issue as the factory used too long of bolts and they bottomed out in the block before they torqued down. My 95 snapped all the passenger sides off coming down the highway. Broke the exhaust and blew the fan through the radiator. Epic fail to say the least -
