  1. 4 or 6 ? ok one mod cheap and works well ...please don't flame me on this one ! get some new ford 300 '' rocker arms that knocks the lift in the mid .400's without spring bind or wear... Wait what? I've been working with Jeeps for a few years now and I've never heard this one before. How did you come across this?
  2. I had that issue on mine one time after I changed a battery. All I did was pull out the starter, bench test it, pull out the battery, test it at the Advance that I work at, and then put it all back together cuz everything tested good. I'm assuming it was a bad connection somewhere. Have you tried jumping the solenoid on your starter?
  3. A buddy of mine actually dyno'd his car with those and went from 148 whp to 154 whp.
  4. The roll pan I've been drawing up will be pretty solid and tie into the frame. Hopefully. Still trying to work that part out.
  5. So somewhere months and months ago someone asked me about an ebay gas tank that I bought for my LB. I got the thing for like $80 or something stupid cheap like that but I figured eh, its better than one with holes. I was right. This thing is awesome. Better quality than I've seen from a lot of Spectra tanks or other tanks that you might get from any old auto parts store. matched the original tank perfectly and came with a lock ring and gasket. not much more you could ask for for that price. here are a couple crappy cell phone pics.
  6. How much of a pain in the arse is it to pull the dash out like in those pics? I'm already planning on redoing the doors so that's not an issue, my seat is torn to $#!& so I'm either gonna do a blackish saddle blanket on it or re-vinyl it, but I never actually looked to take the dash out that far. I'm really just being lazy right now by not going outside and looking.
  7. When you're done post pics on here. I was actually just taking measurements earlier today to make a roll pan. Odd how that happens at the same time.
  8. A few years ago I was asked by my boss to help him out by taking on a leadership role in a Cub Scout pack. Even in the cubs, we knew to treat the flag with respect and line up properly. The pack I joined was worse than what you described, and the troops that the pack fed into were just as bad. I addressed this with the Cubmaster and a couple of scout masters and received the same response that "the boys do good enough by showing up." That wasn't good enough for me. I found a replacement leader among the parents of the boys that I led and quit soon after.
  9. Thank you guys for getting me to waste an hour of my life. Here's mine. And I really have no tailpipe, I didn't forget it.
  10. Okay, so as a parts guy I have to chime in. If you worked on my side and did 5 returns a day because people walk up to you and ask for parts for a Cherokee and really mean a Grand Cherokee, you'd ask everyone if it were a Grand too. I work at an Advance Auto in Carmel, NY as a low end manager. In my case, I'd like to believe that I'm more knowledgeable than nearly all of my colleagues and many customers, but I do recognize when people know more than me and I learn from them. The problem with a lot of the "parts guys" in the world today, especially at the bigger auto parts chains is that these stores pay little better than the McDonald's down the road. And flipping burgers is a lot less stressful than slinging parts. I would much rather shop at a mom and pop parts store any day, but I started slinging parts as a college beer money gig so Advance has been doing me well for almost four years now. Now I'm graduated with an MBA and I'm still having issues getting a better job. One thing Advance is really trying to push right now is that "Service is our best part". If you have any issues with your local Advance just call up the store manager or district manager and let them know. Corporate is really good at getting things going in the right direction if they know that there is an issue. The national corporate number is 1-877-ADVANCE or you can request the district manager's phone number from any store and they should give it to you. And in case any of you are located in the Hudson Valley in NY, feel free to contact me at the Carmel, NY store. Telephone number is (845)225-8314. My name's Frank.
  11. Wow. Awesome. I think I might print this out and bring it with me to work for the next time somebody wants to order in rear end parts. Maybe they'll actually be able to tell me what they need... Probably not though.
  12. No* idea what you said
  13. So what kinda MJ are we talking here? Engine size/year/etc. Does it idle okay when you stop when its doing this?
  14. Alright so a friend of mine has a 2001 Honda CRV that the battery died on a week before he needed an inspection. Now that he needs it inspected, the EVAP and CAT monitors will not reset, and the MIL is off. In NY he needs those both to go active before he can get the inspection. Three people including myself have performed the drive cycle according to the Honda FSM guidelines in order to try this, and between me and him we've put 1800 miles on it since the battery died. Any suggestions to get these to go active so he can get an inspection? Could it be that even though I'm warming the car up to temp, its been pretty damn cold and the car won't stay above 180*?
  15. Hmm... So what I was really wondering was approximately how much power and what gears does a comanche need for runs like that. I'm assuming that thing is running some ridiculous gears and or nitro/FI because I don't think there's really all that much out there for building a wicked 401 NA block.
  16. Saw this video in someone else's link. Anyone know who has this and what he's running? a0cChk4_g6o I love taking my ride offroad but working at an Advance Auto Parts I'm kinda feeling that I need to build an American beast to show the ricers what we can do.
  17. Or just spray foaming glass cleaner all over the intake near any connections and watch to see where it gets sucked in while its running. Its pretty much just alcohol and we all know the 4.0 can take a bit of abuse so it shouldn't hurt. Then wipe it up after and watch it shine.
  18. A friend of mine used to go to this one locksmith that would redo the lock cylinders in all of his cars so he could use one key for everything. And he had a lot of cars. If you don't mind spending a little bit more, you can do that as well. But my 91 also has one key for everything, including the ability to take the key out and leave it running.... The key to my motorcycle also opens it and starts it. Same with a pocket knife.
  19. Notice the step in front of the plate with a spot for a tow ball. Oh wait... its completely GONE
  20. I have the same problem. I think it may have been caused by my father driving me around for years faster than humanly possible in his little VW rabbit through NYC. ~200 lbs. of weight in the back of the truck helped stop the rear slide, then I dropped it down by a 40 lb. bag of sand over time and learned to really slide the truck nice. Now I'm sideways. All day.
  21. Well, this is what a factory bumper looks like after pulling a third row seat Trailblazer out of a pit of ice.... I turned around and used a factory front hook to get it out...
  22. Might wanna think about replacing the O2 sensor too. My 91 4.0L AX15 4wd was getting 19 city 23 highway and then my O2 sensor snapped in half (no idea how that happened, it was just hanging one day) and my fuel economy dropped down to around 11-15mpg. O2 sensors technically have a life of 75-125k miles depending on the manufacturer's recommendations. Not sure how much they effect the Renix motors, I've never had a Renix.
  23. Alright, so every 87-95 jeep I've owned has had this same problem. The hazard switch works when I first get it, you push it in, it stays in, and then you pull it out to turn em off. The problem I'm having is that these switches seem to wear down and then you have to hold them in for the hazards to stay on. Is there any quick fix for this or do i have to pull the steering wheel off and replace the switch? And does anyone sell this guy other than the dealer?
  24. Ground strap from the factory is in the back of the engine connected to one of the back two head bolts. Should go to the firewall.
