  1. How about a first. What do they look like?
  2. Now everyone is going to ask you for your employee discount :D I was afraid that might happen but I'm also getting some free advertising in by saying it. http://www.crutchfield.com/S-k1rMtYZZ1gi/
  3. new job at Crutchfield about 2 months ago. recent VT graduate.
  4. Mine was a 4 speed and it had to 4.10s. Was that an option that I guess I got lucky with?
  5. making the MJ sprung over will give you about 6" of lift with stock springs. should be the same width as the cherokee you pulled it from so the perches shouldn't have to be moved.
  6. the 2.5l 4 cyl should have 4.10s in it already.
  7. long arms, 3 link most likely, front locker, and whatever is left goes towards tires
  8. Sweet rear bumper! did you do the welding yourself?
  9. You can use that rear end but you will have to weld on new perches(can resue the cherokee ones) and reuse the comanche springs. They are slightly longer than from the cherokee. As far as the 4.10 aspect goes, unless you have matching gears in the front end you cannot use 4wd with non matching gears. Having a 4.10 rear and say a 3.07 front can be driven but only in 2wd until they are the same ratio.
  10. central/southwest VA. always looking for other comanches on the road '92 4.0L 6" lift still under longterm construction.
  11. I'm putting in a ford 9" out of an old bronco under my 92 manche. the drum brakes were all rusted and/or missing and finding all of the right parts is a huge pain :fs1: . i was wondering if anyone had a good idea as to where i can get everything i need. ive tried the local auto part stores and they don't seem to have everything. :help:
  12. Lucky, I wish mine was that easy of a fix. It's got a real rough ride but not noticeable under load
  13. we got about 9" over the weekend with still a couple from mid-last week. I've heard 3-6 to come down tomorrow all day (Blacksburg, VA). My sis in northern Va got about 32" over the weekend and luckily still had power, but fri mon and tues school cancelled as of yesterday. :headpop: I wish my classes would be cancelled.
  14. Ive been looking around the forum for awhile now and I can't seem to find a write up on how to remove the bed to the MJs. I have a 86 and considering replacing it with something shorter. If anyone has a link to a thread or a write-up that would be great. :D
  15. I have a 86 MJ with a 2.5L that is running very rough. :headpop: I took it to the shop and they said that there are multiple problems with it and that I'm best off finding a 4.0 straight 6 out of an older model XJ. I was wondering what you guys think are my choices for either fixing my small, underpowered motor or finding and replacing it with a more powerful one. :help:
  16. Clean it up(get all the surface rust off of it and repaint it), then while its out re-gear it if that is what you are planning on doing. Then finally you can weld on new perches and mounts and install it and probably never have to worry about breaking a rear shaft ever again.
  17. the combination definitely looks great if you want to go through the time and effort to make it right.
  18. i have a 86 2.5 4 speed as well and had that same vacuum issue. all i did was take off the cover and basically permanently put the fork that moves into 4wd position. all it does is make it so there is no work needed to be done by the vacuum for 4wd to work and it doesnt effect 2wd at all. very easy fix and it costs nothing :clapping:
