With the truck, wheels installed, and on the ground, I would loosen and retorque the frame to main eye, shackle to frame, and spring to shackle bolts, just to make sure the bushings are not twisting, thus destroying them. One thing people forget with lifting SUA is, the thickness of the added leaves in a pack will move the axle away from the spring, thus lowering the truck. We are not talking about much, just the thickness of the added leaves, but, thought I would mention it. Jerry

slave cylinder location

All BA10/5's have an internal slave, I believe, at least in YJ's, XJ's, and MJ's. Jerry -

Not Another One!!?? '88 Eliminator
JeepsOLot replied to JeepsOLot's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Well, I think I might have found my fuel pump issue: Image Not Found Image Not Found After getting power to everything cut off and on, and then, wouldn't start, I got it home, and started checking the wiring. I smelled something burning, but, I physically didn't see anything. After narrowing where the short was, I found out it was the ICM when I unplugged the plugs to check their condition. Changed it out, and no problems so far! Jerry -
Thanks, hornbrod, and Pete M, sorry, I didn't see Pete's post right away! I'll measure everything tonight when I have the Eliminator back on all 4 tires. Jerry
-
Hopefully, tomorrow I'll have the rear done, and I can check the height again. Jerry
-
I see what he means, measure both bolts from the ground and the difference between them would be the lift height. Jerry
-
The thing about that is, the XJ doesn't have stock LCA's, so, I don't know how accurate that would be. Jerry
-
As far as I know, the Eliminator's suspension is pretty much stock. Jerry
-
Just took measurements, for the front, the XJ is at 20", and the MJ is at 19", but, I still have the rear off the ground, so that might not be a true measurement. The XJ has a 3" Rough Country lift, with lift coils, fixed LCA's, a track bar relocation bracket, and a rear add a leaf. Not using the add a leaf, as I already had one for my pack. Jerry
-
I measured the rear, as that's what I was lifting first, from bottom of flare to center of hub was about 20/20.5" before I did anything. Jave to check the front. Jerry
-
Oh, and I have a 3" add a leaf from an XJ that I'm told will give me around 2" of lift on the Eliminator, therefor leveling it out. Jerry
-
Ok, I have an XJ that has a 3" lift on it now. I'll be swapping the front springs and fixed LCA's that came with the lift on the Eliminator. Just for grins, I put both Jeeps nose to nose to see the difference before the swap. Image Not Found I really don't see that much difference. The gold one is the XJ with the lift and the black one is the Eliminator without lift. Why is that so? The tires on the XJ are 225/75R15's and the ones on the Eliminator are 235/75R15's. Jerry

Not sure about the alternator

Ok, got enough flack from my friend, I painted the flat black tailgate to match the bed. Just for now, I'm trying the Rustoleum Truck Bed Liner, if anything to just get rid of the banana tan inside of the bad until I get everything done. Image Not Found Image Not Found Not bad for a rattle can, LOL!! I will get more pics of the bed later. Jerry -
This is what my gauges show: Image Not Found Sorry about the crappy pic. The needle is not near the 14V mark on the voltmeter when the engine is revved up under load. I would think it should be at 14 or a little past. The other thing that I notice is, with the lights on, when I hit the brakes, the lights dim slightly, as well as when I have a turn signal on. While I have the turn signal on, the voltmeter pulses in time with the flasher, another thing I didn't think it should be doing. I'm I looking at a bad alternator, or a bad ground? I did the ground refresh a couple months ago. Thanks! Jerry

I have Jeep problem too, 1 YJ/CJ, 1 WJ, 1XJ, and 3 MJ's (one being a bed donor and the rest of it will be scrapped). I'm just waiting for my Jeep club to stage an intervention, LOL!! Jerry

Something Odd, Fuse Panel Clicking

Something Odd, Fuse Panel Clicking
JeepsOLot replied to JeepsOLot's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Well, yesterday afternoon, the horn started working, and it wasn't clicking except when I hit the horn button. I guess that was the real reason the horn wasn't working, LOL!! Thanks!! Maybe, I'll pull the relay out and clean the contacts. Jerry -
This morning, I I drove the Eliminator to the gas station, went back to the house to drop off something before I headed off to work. I got back to the house with no problems. I get back into the truck, and I hear this off and on clicking coming from around the fuse panel, like a relay cycling. I didn't have the HVAC blower on, and the lights/turn signals worked as they should as did the high beams. I got on the interstate, still clicking. Just out of curiosity, I hit the horn (it never worked since I got the truck running), it clicked more. After hitting the horn a couple more times, the clicking stopped. I don't understand why it's clicking, but, the horn itself doesn't work. I thought the horn relay was under the hood. I'm guessing the horn itself is dead, but the relay works, and the switch on the steering wheel is having intermittent contact, and I'm just lucky that the horn doesn't work, LOL!! Anyone can give me an insight if I'm on the right track or not, thanks!! Jerry

Marvel at the Mystery Oil

I agree. I just do this as a regular regiment, to make sure the engines don't get nasty in the first place. Jerry -
Marvel at the Mystery Oil
JeepsOLot replied to wutangwisdom's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
^^^ That's what I do on all of my 4.0's, 5 quarts oil/1 quart MMO. It quiets the normal lifter noise that just about all higher mileage 4.0's get. I run it in my wife's WJ with a bigger filter (Purolator 30001), and run 6 quarts oil and 1 quart MMO. Can't run that filter on the others (YJ, XJ, or MJ) because of space issues. Jerry -

Ok, thought I would post some pics so far. Here is the "tailpipe", LOL Image Not Found The Eliminator minus the tube bumper: Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found That's it for now. The weather has be extremely hot, so, haven't been out to do stuff like I would want. Hopefully this weekend, I can get the beds swapped. Jerry
