  1. Praise the Lord we have dash lights!
  2. It feels like she’s growing up to fast. Full gauge cluster swapped in and I now have under dash courtesy lights. New headlight switch, but still no dash lights as I can see in daylight. All the gauges work except the water temp (bought the wrong sending unit). That will be corrected soon. Now to finish the underside work (new rear shocks, heavy duty track bar, new lower control arms), some more brake work and she should be a driver. IMG_3832.MOV
  3. Bullet Taco or burrito?
  4. Well done video.
  5. I just installed the same kit and am running 32x11.50x15s. Opt for the extended sway bar extensions, I didn’t and had to order them separate. I also added an extra 3/4 inch spacer to the front. Normal driving I think the 32s are going to be fine. I did a little flexing on a clay mound and was able to get the tire to rub the fender flare a slight amount. Not enough to damage the flare or tire but it definitely rubbed under full flex without the sway bare connected or bump stops installed. I haven’t installed the rear add a leaf or shackles yet. My truck had an old Trailmaster lift and the rear already sat at about 5inches over stock and the shocks supplied with the kit were about an 1/4 inch to short. So I’ve ordered the shocks for a 5.5inch rear lift and will likely just keep the rear springs as they are with the new shackles.
  6. Thanks for the tips. I previously redressed the ground on derives side of truck under dash, but haven’t check the dash bolt ins.
  7. Insured and registered she’ll be on the road soon.
  8. Looking for thoughts/opinions on some lingering problems. Since day on I have not had any dash lights, or interior lights except for the b-pillar lights (euromatic). Blinker indicators and high beam indicator all work. So it’s just dash and interior courtesy lights that seem to not be working. Neither door switch seems to work after replacing the degraded originals. I checked fuses, they were good. Also just swapped in a full cluster and tach did not register upon startup. Bolt meter and fuel gauge seem to work. Any ideas where I should start?
  9. Still working on her. Full cluster swapped in today and new speedo cable with cruise adapter. Haven’t driven it yet, but fuel low light works and the voltage meter, still need to swap out oil pressure and temp senders. Tach did not work on initial startup and it doesn’t appear the cluster lights are working. These weren’t working on old cluster either. Always something. Good news is high beam indicator and blinker indicators work. Also did the mod to keep my column shift indicator.
  10. FEDEX is the most disappointing and useless package shipping service! I remember when you could count on them to get your package to you before the delivery date. Over the past couple of months I have had one package not delivered and returned to the service center an hour from my house, one road around on the truck for three days (no door tags or status updates) before being left at a local pickup location and the most recent one was put on the delivery truck last Thursday for delivery and not one status update as of Saturday. So I guess it’s just going to ride the truck until the driver gets tired of bumping into it and I am sure I’ll have to go pick it up somewhere. Rant over!!!! Rant continued: filed a complaint on Saturday. Finally get a call back today (Monday). Guy wanted to talk more about what’s wrong with his truck than any effort to find my package. “Well I’ll look around the big building and see if I can find it” was his parting words... nothing about a call back or replacing my parts. Bad news is I have two more packages that are scheduled to be delivered by them maybe they’ll make it. Rant over for now!
  11. Well that sucks!!!! I had a buddy that put a set on a TJ several years ago, he really liked that size tire. Also realized I said I have toyos, I actually have Kumhos one of the pluses of them is they are a C rated tire verse E as are most bigger tires. I can’t speak to their ride, tread life or anything else yet as I haven’t really started driving the truck to much yet.
  12. I was also going to suggest 235/85r15, iirc BFG makes a this size in their AT tread pattern.
  13. New lift mostly installed on the front. Waiting on ZJ trac, tie rod, and drag links to come in. I also still need to sap out the lower control arms. I know it’s just an RC lift but it’s much better than the old Trailmaster lift that came off.
  14. Updated pic with the 4.5 front lift installed and 32x11.50x15s. So far no scrubbing lock to lock. I do still have to change out the stock lower control arms and finish the ZJ steering components upgrade. This is a RC lift with an extra .75 in coil spacer so in reality it should be a 5.25 total lift in the front.
  15. I haven’t put the new 4.5 lift on yet, but I will be running the same setup (with aftermarket wheels). I picked up the 32x11.50x15 toyo road ventures. With the current lift setup (a old sagging Trailmaster 4 in) they rub on the front fenders in a hard turn. I am hopeful that I won’t have any rub except for at full flex. If anything I am thinking I might have to add an extra .75 spacer on the front. I hope to get the new lift installed in the next week or two. Here’s a pic of the current setup:
  16. Brake bleeding kind of done, at least enough to get her to stop. Will be continuing and hopeful to have good brakes after new wheel cylinders and calipers go on. Made a new milestone today, three trips around the neighborhood about 4 miles total. Trans is shifting better, maybe one more flush of the fluid and a new filter. Parked her on a level spot in prep for putting on the new lift and brake calipers/wheel cylinders.
  17. New brake lines ran and YJ proportioning valve installed. Now on to bleeding the system and I may have a drivable truck. IMG_3800.MOV
  18. Will do! Made some more progress today. New to me throttle body installed. A few adjustments and I can get her to hold idle at 850-950 rpms. Worked on the front bumper and brush guard. Got them both mounted back on the truck. I was even able to salvage the lower air dam and remount it in nearly stock form. Still winch shopping so I still haven’t cut the bumper for the fairlead yet. Started on a job I’ve been dreading but that has to be done (brake lines ugh!) Pulled both the old rear lines from the main distribution valve, pulled the load sensing proportioning valve. Only had to cut two lines from the distribution valve and on from the load sensing valve. Next up new hard lines and a YJ proportioning valve, wheel cylinders and calipers. Basically all new brake system, and yes I am doing shoes and pads. I just put in a new master cylinder and booster last week.
  19. Took a break from mechanical work today and did a little more fab work for the RedRock JK 2dr side steps. Think I am going to like them. I’ll be doing a write up in the DYI section when I’ve figured the rest out. Also threw in a couple of side view pics of the BTSB for good measure.
  20. Can’t celebrate to fast, once shut off and restart the idle shot back up to 1700/2k and doesn’t want to come down.
  21. Found a misrouted vacuum line and kept fooling with the TPS settings and just double checking everything. This is the best this has run since I bought it. Just need to get the brake issues squared away and drive it some to see if I can work out the trans shifting issues. IMG_3767.MOV
  22. No worries, I actually started the thread to get a good discussion going on options and opinions. The tooling is an essential part of those, so this helps everyone. I ended up about $160 for lines/fittings/tools and a YJ proportioning valve. Still have to figure out calipers/rear brake cylinders/shoes and pads. I am going to go with longer aftermarket soft lines since I’ll be putting on the 4.5 lift in the next few weeks. Big thing is to get the new hard lines in place and proportioning valve for now.
  23. Two more pics with the stock bumper notched for winch access and cut to accept the shackle mounts. Haven’t scut the winch cable access yet since I am still shopping for the winch I want. Fit is a lot tighter than I thought it would be. Like it a lot!!!! I will be posting a thread in the DYI section when I get done.
  24. Thanks to both of you! Placed my order(s) tonight.
