  1. Well I won it. Got it bought for $250. Came with pinion yokes and some new bearings. The guy I bought it off does odd jobs for a land lord. When some one moves out of an apartment, this guy goes in and fixes anything screwed up by the previous renters. Part of his pay is he gets to keep anything left behind. This axle was in a garage at one of these places. He didn't even know it came out of a jeep. The air line for the locker is laying loose inside the diff, i need to figure out what it attaches too, what ever it is screws into the side of the housing. Needs all new bearings and seals because I'm not sure if it sat out open in the rain or not. Since it needs knuckles, I'll probably go with the WJ brakes and steering. I still need to make a decision, either put money in this axle, re-gear the rear dana 44 to 4.10, and buy the $160 factory air compressor for the locker. Or sell the front 44 and use that money to put into the rest of the truck....decisions decisions
  2. Called him back, he's holding it for me. Ill know more after I get out of here in a few hours.
  3. pretty sure its not a JK axle, the drivers side upper control arm mount is different, and the coil buckets/shock mount brackets are different. But I've been wrong before.
  4. I have no info on axle, I havn't seen it in person. I know what you know. He's asking $500. Going to go after work to check it out.
  5. Found this on a local classifieds page, its a Dana 44, but what is it out of? Any ideas? missing knuckles, outer stub shafts, and pinion yoke, that kind of worries me. Guy says he got it out a junk yard, has no clue what it came out of. I can't tell, it looks very similar to an xj/tj axle, but maybe jk? Either way I'm buying it, just needing some more info.
  6. Around here its really clean for any year! Its definitely the nicest one I may have ever seen. Hope they keep it just like it is...
  7. My sister sent me this the other day. She saw it at a local high school parking lot in the neighboring county. Looks pretty nice from the pictures. Hope one day I can meet the owner. I'll have to give my sister some CC cards!
  8. Finally getting around to getting the Dana 44 ready to go. Ordered all new brake parts. Still debating on rebuilding the trac lock or not. Ordered Rubicon Express 4.5" coils to get rid of whatever is on the front. Ordered a drop track bar from Supreme Suspensions, not to sure about that yet, but I guess we'll see. I think I'm going to go with control arm drop brackets and run OEM arms. Got a LUK heavy duty clutch ordered. After this axle is ready i'll go out back and pick a Dana 30 that I think would make a good candidate and order parts to get it ready. Then its all ready to be put on the truck. Need to order my hitch from Krusty! One of the lug nuts on the turbine were toast. Somebody tried using a chisel to remove it. Had to torch it out, the wheel didn't make it... until next time!

  11. I'd love a Montero/Pajero! I like the old boxy montero's and Dodge Raider's too!
  12. Printed and saved for future reference! Thank you!
  13. I gotta find a set! Thanks for pointing me in the correct direction!
  14. This is what I was after. Thank you, I didn't know what the in-spec breaking point would be. I may be wrong, but both the Dana 35 and Dana 44 use one piece axle shafts I believe. No nut on the end of the axle, I don't think. Maybe you could use a lug nut? Not being centered, it would not be an accurate reading, unless that's the way the manual says to check it. INjake89mj, Also, this may not be a popular answer, but if you plan to do a lot of off roading, there are better choices for performance diffs and even though it's more money, if you have the axle apart maybe now is the time to do it. I'm guessing you are not planning for a lot of off road and budget is dictating use what you got. You are correct they do not have a nut on the end of the axle, this is what makes it so hard to test. I would assume that the FSM would have a testing procedure? Maybe not. My "offroading" is going into the woods to get firewood, or trying to get to work when the snow is too deep. This truck is far from a wheeling rig, just a farm truck. I will more than likely just put the axle in the truck and see how it acts, if necessary I will pull the diff later, I just wanted to bench test all I could while I had this thing on the stand. thanks for the responses.
  15. Is this anybodies rig here? I love the look, and I really love the wheels but I can't seam to find them anywhere. Anybody know anything about them?
  16. Getting everything together to get the Dana 44 under the 92 and ran into some questions. How do I tell if the clutches for the limited slip needs replaced? I haven't opened it up yet, so I don't know if there is any clutch material in the oil or not. I'm assuming this is the best way of knowing. My father-in-law has rebuilt a few limited slips for vettes, and he says that he uses a torque wrench on the axle shaft nut, with 1 tire in the air, and if the clutch slips at over 90ft lbs it is good (road racing applications). We do not have a way of measuring this correct? If we can measure this, at what ft lb torque should it slip at? The clutch kit is only ~$80 without spiders, but I just don't want to take the time and money to do it if it's not needed. Maybe I should just rebuild it for peace of mind and and chalk it up as a learning experience, but I though I would ask you guys first. Thanks!
  17. Id love to find a late model with manual! Would rather have NV3550 but I'm not picky!
  18. Looking for a decent set of original rear flares. thanks!

  20. How do you like the Hurst shifter?
  21. That Archer pin looks familiar! Looks awesome!
  22. I'm not sure i've ever seen a 3 bolt wheel...
  23. I've been looking for these hat pins ever since I say Pete's collection. I have found 2 so far and a couple XJ ones which I do not have pictures of. This one looks similar to Pete's but not quite the same any of his. Didn't realize they made so many different ones! This one I have not seen before, I cannot read any of the writing, but it looks similar to the decals of some of the SCCA Archer trucks that I have found pictures of. Can't wait to find more!
