  1. another question, I still don't have a flywheel, figured i would buy new with the clutch. Do i need to source a flywheel for tranny year or engine year? Pilot bearing? thanks!
  2. OK, I have a 1989 Comanche that has full late model swap. After selling my 96 Cherokee with a 5 speed, i really miss shifting gears. I just recently purchased an AX-15, NP231, pedals, cross member, and drive shafts from a 1992 Comanche. It is internal slave, so I found and purchased all the necessary parts to convert to external slave. The only thing I need is the shifter bezel for the 97+ console, which i believe is still available from the dealer. Now to the question. The transfer case that came on the AX-15 has a much different speed sensor than my 1998 transfer case, and from what i can tell, my transfer case will not bolt up to the earlier AX-15. So whats my best solution? Could I pull the input shaft out of the earlier t-case and use in my late model t-case? I searched on this for a while but I'm sure the information is out their, I just can't seam to find an answer. Maybe i'm just over thinking it? thanks! also - the jeep that I pulled these parts from was a 1992 Long bed, obviously 5 speed, 4x4, 4.0 with a Dana 44. It was Dark Green. I did not get the VIN...I have tried to get it but no luck, It is 2 hrs away from me. Was being parted out after a roll over. I've heard that the green Comanches are rare but with this combination? Will inform if i do receive the VIN.
  3. Check transfer case linkage. If you did hit something with the driveshaft, if could have moved the tcase and bent the linkage, since the linkage is mounted to the tcase and the body if one moves without the other something has to give. Unhook the linkage and manually run the bell crank on the side of the case and see if it stays engaged. Just something to check before you go tearing anything apart.
  4. It's really clean..... but DAMN!!!! http://dayton.craigslist.org/cto/4769939186.html
  5. 88 Comanche 4.0 auto (Cruiser's tips completed) Going home last night, my Comanche started to bog down, I gave it more skinny pedal, and then the muffler exploded. It started back up and would idle for a few seconds then died. Wouldn't restart. Got it home and it started back up after I cranked at WOT to clear fuel out of cylinders. It idled for a few seconds and died. The exhaust smelled like raw fuel. What could have crapped out to cause an over fueling issue? It was late, and I didn't pull a plug to check for fouling. I don't think that it is the CPS, because I wouldn't think that it would even start if it was bad. Could the coolant sensor in the block cause this issue, I know that it adjusts the pulse widths on the injectors, but would it be enough to completely foul out? MAT/MAP effect it in this way as well? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
  6. I officially hate you. Or envy you. Or something. I love Badlands and to live that close as opposed to 203 miles away..... Its not as glamorous as it may seem... I remember going there when it was just an abandoned gravel pit. My dad worked in the pit in high school, and would take his 1975 CJ5 out there after work. We've had our fun out there, now we just stand back and watch everybody else enjoy it. Its still pretty cool to see the all the rigs roll through town though....the Wrangler guys never wave to us MJ guys?!? :hmm:
  7. Ill be there! Since the round trip will consist of 8 turns, 4 stop signs, and 6 miles I don't have much of an excuse not to be there! I doubt I will be wheeling the DD, but I will be at the camp ground in the evening for some friendly conversation and a few ice cold wobbly pops. My brother will most likely be there with his MJ and possibly my dad in his TJ. Our shop is a few miles away and I have a parts Cherokee and Comanche along with some misc. parts. 765-401-4887 is my cell #...save the number so you can get ahold of me in case you guys need anything...I know its a ways away, but I might forget by then! Look forward to meeting you guys! Jake
  8. http://indianapolis.craigslist.org/cto/4636123725.html Maybe you have seen it? I want it but not for 1300$
  9. I offered $500 which i thought it was a fair price for the condition. I just hope it goes to a good home where someone can get some good out of it.
  10. I want it bad but i can't pay $1300 for a parts truck. I tried to talk him down but he won't budge. Title says lien...must need pay off.

  12. I'm looking to my Comanche a few inches. I do not want to do SOA swap because I'm afraid it will net more lift than I want. I would really like to use the Hell Creek 3" lift springs for the rear. I have read on here how guys use those or the General leafs. What i am wondering is if the ride quality is comparable to stock with either of these lift springs. I am not too concerned with the hauling capacity, because i will be running air bags. I use this truck as a DD but like to take it camping/light trail riding every now and then. My plan is to run a 3" lift SUA with a 32" tire. thanks again for the help guys!
  13. Worked great! I didn't put a sock or filter in the tank, i just put a filter inline before pump. I didn't think about swapping return for feed lines. Its all in and working now. I will have to drop tank again to pull bed when I start body work, ill get back in the tank and might rethink it. On a side note, I just ordered a BBK 62mm throttle body today. I have K&N CAI and free flow muffler. Have you guys had and experience with the throttle body, I've heard great things about bored throttle bodies, but not necessarily this brand. To make exhaust more free flow, can I remove CAT on a 98 system and get away with it, or will it interfere with Oxygen Sensor's? Thanks for the help guys!
  14. Thanks hornbrod...i'm not sure why i never found that thread. I now have an E2000 pump that i will be installing. I'm going to bypass filter in stock unit and run the inline. I like the thought that if i do have to change fuel pump it'll only take a few minutes. thanks again!
  15. I am in the process of doing the 97+ conversion to my comanche. I only have 1 more hurdle and that is the fuel pump/sending unit. Vapor canister is mounted under bed, EVAP lines ran ect. I have read on here to use 98 cherokee pump in the comanche sending unit, or to use the assembly from cherokee and cut hole in tank. I have a new tank(no slosh pan) and ring to use oem cherokee pump, but thought about an inline pump. Can you guys think of any reason not to pursue this? What PSI pump should I look for? gpm? My plan was to use comanche sending unit in stock tank, but remove pump and bypass through SU.... Or should i just use new assembly for cherokee in new tank and be done with it. Not trying to reinvent the wheel, but i don't like the idea of dropping the tank to change pump, which will be required with the new set up. Has anyone tried to use stock xj tank/pump assembly and fab up mounts? Thanks for your help jake
  16. -krusty you bet we need to get together! I'm pretty sure I contacted you on some taillights a few years ago... Last time we were there, they had a brown 86(iirc) lwb, being used as the yard truck!!!!!! had good taillights and tailgate, but wouldn't let us buy parts off of it. I'm sure you saw it. does Bryant's ever have anything? -crm1988 that's a sweet camper! Where did you come up with the fifth wheel hitch? How far south are you? I get down near French Lick every now and again.
  17. add another.... Attica, IN 89/98 pioneer My brother is also a member he has 2 88 eliminator and a 91 eliminator I know what you mean about clubs being off road clubs, living 5 minutes from the Badlands, everyone just assumes you have to beat the crap out of your rig to prove its worthiness. Our jeeps see enough off road just going to town! Krusty, we always know when you beat us to Coultas's!
