    Grrrr...

so are you looking for custom bumpers or just stock ones? did you find someone to do the rocker rails? my dad and i have been pondering the idea of fabbing up some stuff for the ZJ and the MJ since there isnt much of a support for them. Josh
  3. throwing in my 2 cents... every side has had very great points to the arguments. me personally, if i had my choice, id pick an outdated XJ over a new KJ any day. I fit into the rugged do it all class as stated above but i also stand in the 2% of the population that would pick the outdated XJ. here in the good ole rust belt i have seen rust on the KJs but not so much on the rockers, more on the wheel wells like full size fords. also i have done so minor work on KJs before and it is all a PITA! i do side work at a mechanic shop that specializes in jeeps and i have seen countless KJs come in and out for very similar things; motor troubles. now i could be wrong about the 3.7 because i don't like dealing with the newer jeeps so i stay away from them. beside the KJs the next newest jeep to be pulled into the shop was a 98 TJ with literally no frame left and a 2001 4banger TJ. final thoughts, I'm not liking the dana 30a or the ifs the KJ has because i like the simplicity and strength of a solid axle with a steel center section. i do like the rear disc brakes and the coil springs of the KJ plus they had the renegade package that really made a styling difference. i also think the KJ came with a diesel in the US which, even though the XJ HAD one, is nice for the MPGs in the current economy. I also like that the 8.25 was offered in most KJs. Josh
  4. it truly is addiction. i sold my old f150 and was looking for something 4wd. at the time i wanted a cherokee. went to a jeep dealer and they just took in a CLEAN RUST FREE (rare in ohio) 2wd long bed 1992 4.0l auto. at the time i didnt know the rarity of it. passed on it cause it was 2wd. got a cherokee, and built it up. the comanche always was in my mind though. bought an 88 longbed in indiana (9 hour drive for me) and towed it home. then found my nextone on craigslist and bought that and ended up buying a parts cherokee too. justrecently i picked up another 4wd eliminator. now I'm looking to add a forth as my friends dad just inherited a 92 longbed stick 4.0l 4wd and may be looking to get rid of it. no rust whatso ever. 63,000 miles on the clock  anyways, welcome to the madness!!!! Josh
  5. Z&M jeeps in maumee ohio has cab corners. zach is member on here. he also has bedsides that you cut to fit. last i checked the website didnt list comanche stuff but give him a call. his place is just neat to go out there and check the stuff he has. and the cool part is he knows where everything is!!! last i herd, he had a NOS driver side MJ tailight still in the original packaging...asked a price and it was a tad bit more than i could afford  Josh

    AMC stuff

i have been looking everywhere for some AMC logo'd things like floormats, mudflaps, pretty much anything with AMC logo on it (even though i have a chrysler build sheet...) most recently I'm looking for a valve cover for a 4.0l that has the amc logo on it with the word "jeep" on it or even one with just the logo on it. theres all kinds of floor mats that say javlin and amx on ebay but there seems to be no love for the amc jeeps :help: Josh
  7. so pete, whats your say on this??? and come on guys i still need an idea for something for the front!!! Josh
  8. well it was on AMC  now, who can be the first to identify the year??? Josh
  9. My mom got a t-shirt making machine for my parents anniversary and i was just wondering if anyone would be interested in comanche club t-shirts. i wouldnt try to make a profit on it, just the cost to cover the materials needed. of course money would be upfront. i was thinking: grey t-shirt with the AMC logo with the words "Jeep" next to it on one sleeve. on opposite sleeve the persons screen name from comanche club. on the back have the comanche club logo (the one where it says ".com" in a bed trailer and i havent decided on anything for the front yet. any other ideas? likes? dislikes? Josh
  10. just wondering if anyone would be interested in a write up about making almost a factory replication of the floor pan support braces that run along the framerail and the little side one by the door. figured id ask before i took the time cause i read somewhere that they maybe be unnessisary. Josh
  11. .....you have to explain what "my jeep was born with a bed" means in your email signature .....you race to pull a part when a new MJ is put on the yard only to find 3 other MJs in the parkinglot and you say to yourself "they better not touch my tailights!" .....you shed a tear for past comanches gone. .....you have dreams in your sleep about finding the bed stamping machine from the factory. ......you get mad everytime you have to correct people when they say "cherokee truck" ......you have to explain to other non comanche truck owners the unibody system of the MJ Josh
  12. the por15 company makes a remover that is not supposed to harm plastics. might want to look into that. Josh
  13. I read somewhere before that it is possible to make the stationary front window glass in late model MJ/XJ the wing vent windows but i can't seem to remember where i read that! :fs1: I am looking for a set of doors for my 90 eliminator that don't look like swiss cheese like mine, but still have power windows and power and power locks AND vent windows. All the local yards want close to $200 a piece (2 doors=$400. More than i paid for the whole truck) and the pick a parts have almost all junk doors with the vent glass. It would be fantastic if i could pull all power featured doors off like a 96 XJ and take good vent glass and hing pin from like an 88 XJ and make a frankenstien door. Is it possible or did i just have a dream about this? Josh
  14. my one MJ restorationg is my graduation present. i specifically told my parents that i was going to be spending ALOT of money to get the truck how i want even if i have to pay for it myself. they still insist that they pay for it. I'm not going to break my parents bank or anything, but the truck is going to be exactly how i want it. I have had this planned out since the day i bought the truck. i call it the OJ MJ... first off rebuild the motor and stroke it out to a 4.6l fix the rust and patch the holes. por15 the entire truck exterior (i want to drive it but i want it to last) paint the truck summit racing huggin' orange 97+ cherokee classic rims grill, bumpers, trim, ect. painted to match the cherokee classic rims vent window doors MT rear springs d44 disc brake conversion (if its possible, still researching that) rear factory bedmat factory amc mudflaps no lift and just normal tires tow hitch that was my first MJ, the second one i have is going to be wild. its going to take some time and lots of money. its going to be a like a replica of the white, yellow, blue, orange paint job prerunner type truck that was rolled. start of with the 90 eliminator 4x4 shortbed fiberglass buldge front fenders fiberglass buldge rear bedsides rear reciever bumper (i saw a picture of a sweet one on here and I'm going to fab it myself) front stinger bumper 3 inch lift with whatever tires i can fit without cutting on my factory rims that awesome paintjob fix rust patch holes fix worn carpet and repad the bucket seats 4.6l stroker factory rollbar with KC lights on the bar and on the stinger bumper i got a build thread started on the OJ MJ on another site I'm on. when i get some time i start one on here. dual tc's

ive never seen one on a jeep but a friend of mine has a chevy K5 blazer with a dual transfercase setup. he hooked it up to a tree one time, put it in low and low and drive, let it idle and got out and it was chirpping the tires. pretty neat to watch. Josh
  16. thoes are my favorite rims...well... next to 97+ cherokee classic rims...but i still loves thoes. Josh
  17. the boneyards around me are also charging a fortune for parts now! i saw what i presumed to be an 87 MJ (shortbed, GM motor, early style badging, vent windows, ect.) in literally mint condition. not a speck of rust on the thing. it was an XLS modle with a checkered flag right below the XLS emblem. I'm not sure what all came as factory options (if the race flag had anything to do with it) on it but it has a chrome front clip, bucket seats, auto tranny, 4wd, shortbed, and a chrome rear factory bumper. besides alittled faded paint and these god aweful homemade aluminum siding running boards, it looks like it was pulled right out of a showroom and place in a junker lot. i wanted the bed off it and the guy said $700 is the lowest he will go. i said no along with "you rather loose $400 that i was willing to pay for just the bed, and get a whopping $200 for the whole truck in scap value?" he looked at me with a sinister smirk and said "yep" and turned around and walked away. i was determined to never go to that jumkyard again, but i broke down and tomorrow I'm going to go buy the factory AMC mudflaps off it... Josh
  18. i have skimmed through all the write ups and i havent seen one on swapping over from drum to disc brakes. ive seen them done on XJ 8.25 where they swapped the KJ setup on. Well i was thinking about swapping ZJ d44 discs onto my MJ d44. my rear brakes are comletely shot. i need to run new brakelines, new master cylminder/brake booster, i need new drums, and shoes, so instead i wanted to convert to discs. has anyone ever done this? is it even possible? if no one has ever tried it and it seems plausible, ill submit a write up for it. Josh
  19. so i went to go look at it again yesterday and i had my girlfriend try to start it while i had my head under the hood and i herd a big psssshhhhhh coming from the right side of the engine bay. my first thought was a blown headgasget as it sounded like it was loosing compression but no matter how many times after we cranked it it never made the psssshhhhhh noise again. my shop is not very far from where the jeep is and i asked if i could leave a deposit and borrow the jeep to run a few tests on it and he said no. still at his asking price, i would still be comfortable buying it, in worst case scenario buying a junkyard motor for $1500, and have a really nice WJ with a lift and new tires for still under blue book value. any thoughts? Josh
  20. this sounds like a stupid question but how would i check to see if its getting fuel? the only way i could think of would be to have someone turn the key to on and check to see if the fuel pump kicks on. and i didnt pay attention when i went to look at it, but if my knowledge is correct it is distributorless. this new fangled 4.7l technology is beyond me. Josh
  21. i have the opportunity to buy a 2001 grand cherokee limited black exterior on black interior with a 2inch lift and 31s, no rust at all and 125,000 on the clock for next to nothing. the motor quit starting about 3 weeks ago and now its just sitting at a friends house. it cranks but no start. its also the 4.7 v8. now I'm only familiar with 4.0l and 5.2l, does anyone have any idea on what it could be? Josh
  22. man i wish i really could have gone but the whole me needing money and work scheduling me to work thing kinda threw a wrench into things. By any chance, did anyone see an MJ bedmat? Josh
  23. i checked the length of a spare speedocable i have. its out of a 1990 4door XJ with 4.0l auto and 4x4 and the length was roughly 75inches. mine that was in my MJ (4cylinder cable in a 6 cylinder truck) was about 10-15inches shorter than the XJ cable. goodluck!
  24. consider it gone! thanks for the help! Josh
  25. can anyone tell if it had a lift on it? i have a perfectly good candidate MJ at my shop for atleast that awesome paintjob! only difference is that mine is a swb and an eliminator so the prerunner parts would feel right at home :D Josh
