in ohio, are there any restrictions to when you can drive/how many miles you can put on your truck? and don't you have to have special insurance? i ask because i don't know and would evenutally like to get historical plates for a "few" of my projects. Josh

put me down for two of them! Josh

Does anyone else like the look of the tailights on that MJ? Josh

Read while ago in a magazine that they actually shot some diff covers with some guns and the SOLID covers were the only ones to withstand a 357 magnum. I'll see if I can find the article. As for me, I run SOLID on all my rigs. They are beefy cover that line up perfectly and can hold some extra fluid to keep the gears cool. Plus I'm pretty good friends with the guys that own SOLID axle industries Josh

Something we'd never think of....but someone did.
boardmanMJ replied to Comanche County's topic in The Pub
I had a picture of a yellow car hauler made out of an old cutlass station wagon, too bad it was on my old cell phone... -
That is actually about a 15 minute trip away from me. I'm kinda tempted to actually go look at it.

I hate to say it but the truck is probably only worth scrap price. The doors are rotten through and I don't know if the windows actually work or not. I never had a battery hooked up to it. The windshield is cracked slightly and the seats have seen better days, that why if I keep it, it's going to be a mud truck.

The eagle is almost a sure thing (if I can talk the guy down in price)

2000 XJ/4.0l/auto trans/3.55/33x12.50x15 swampers/ throttle body spacer/ k&n cold air intake. I usually get 18 highway and 12 city with an average of 14.5 (that what my digital overhead console tells me at least)

The ZJ has a title but it is not street legal so if I keep the ZJ or the MJ it will be towed on a trailer regardless. The MJ I can get a title for it but it's a lot of work to get one, that's why I kinda figured it would be easier to build for off road. As for the eagle, I just like the look of it and it's rarity. Eventually when it's done I will sell my DD Cherokee.

ok so here is my problem; i have a chance to buy a 1983 AMC eagle sx/4 (last year for the sx/4) but in order to get another project i need to get rid of another vehicle that i have. Now the two candidates for sale are either my mud jeep or my other comanche. The mud jeep is a 95 ZJ limited that i built myself and is pretty beefy (4.5inch lift, 33inch swampers, 5.2v8, durango np231HD transfercase, full skidplates, ect...) and i really hate to get rid of it because its actually trailworthy. The comanche is another story though... its a 1990 4x4 shortbed eliminator 4.0l auto with grey interior bucket seats powerlocks and windows. the body is in pretty rough shape (it will need a new bed for sure, needs rockers on both sides, needs a tailgate, floorboards and new fenders up front) right now its a "rolling chassis" which mean it has no motor (was the 4.0l) but the trans and transfercase are still there with, according to the odometer, has 80,000 miles on them. i saved it from the crusher and i was going to make it a prerunner type truck with all the fiberglass goodies and a small lift and use it as more of a show truck and not offroad it at all, but unfortunatly there is no title for the comanche. so here is a poll for everyone; should i sell the ZJ and off road the comanche, or should i sell the comanche and keep the ZJ? ill see if i can find some pictures to post of everything. such descisions in life.... here is the ZJ and here is the MJ and here is the AMC Eagle sorry for such crummy pictures, the camera on my old phone wasnt the best. my jeep did come factory with an amp and i checked all the fuses to make sure and every one (only found two) of them was fine. right now i only have the amp just sitting in there so I'm going to try and screw it down to the floorboards to see if it grounds through the screws. if it still doesnt ground I'm probably just going to bypass the amp completely cause its been nothing but a headache :fs1:

I know this is comanche club and all but i figured id give it a shot and see if any of you guys can help me out. I have a 95 ZJ limited that i am wanted to put a stock radio in it because when i bought it, it had nothing in and i figured it would just be easier with a stock setup. I got a radio and all 6 speakers out of a junkyard and here is my problem; i can get the radio to light up and find different radio stations but i can't get ANY sound out of the speakers, not even static. The speakers all work cause i hooked them up to another stereo system and i got sound. I know the radio works cause i ran a jumper wire from the pins in the back of the radio to a speaker and i got sound. what else could it be? its an infinity gold system with a factory amp under the seat and that would be the only other thing i could think of that could be wrong.

I need a resonably priced front straight axle for my comanche project. If interested I have a 4wd front axle to trade or I will have cash ready. As close to North eastern ohio as possible. Thanks in advance! Call or text 330-398-8814 Josh

I said SBC beasue it is the cheapest to build and the one with the most advances to it. And all it seems like to him is he needs to haul stuff, so why make a wiring mess when you don't have to for a work truck? And I don't know about 4.7 that arent neglected but everyone I'm ever seen had split connecting rods, and I've seen about 7 of them come and go. Josh

Are you talking about the factory five chop rods? I watched a couple car shows on that and my dad is a HUGE factory five racing fan! Josh

Quick paint question:
boardmanMJ replied to Automan2164's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
one thing that i was also considering doing was taking it down to bare metal and using por15 to do the whole bed and the lower half of my cab but I live in the major rust belt. Also avoid switching brands of paint. Different brand paints can react badly with eachother which will turn into a mess. I painted a spare hood for my XJ and I used sherwin williams primer with summit flat black. I forgot to add hardner to it so i let it fully dry for alittle over a week. I went to run my hand over the paint to feel the finish and huge sheets of the black paint peeled off like i painted over teflon. Josh -
the 4.7 didnt come in the ZJ, only the WJ and I'd stay away from doing that swap. Thoes motors are complete junk and parts are really expensive plus alot of new wiring would need done since it has so many sensors and what not. If anything throw a carburated SBC in it and call it a day. If you want to trade for a longbed and your short bed is nice let me know  Josh

I say take it off. The headlight guards you can buy a 6 piece (not sure what it includes...) set from scummit. Around me there is a close out warehouse type store that has a HUGE amount of chrome jeep acessories including, but not limited to, thoes headlight guards. Josh

I could see maybe if it was something extremely rare like the last one to roll of the line, or comanche street number 1, worlds fastes MJ, or something like that but its just a run of the mill pioneer. And not even with the black interior! Just my thoughts Josh

clear marker lights
boardmanMJ replied to STERLING STINGER's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I had a hard time finding clear ones for my 97+ XJ and i ended up buying ones through the company lanzo. Josh -
i was just kinda thinking, has anyone ever tried using 2 door exploder or jimmy seats inside an MJ? seems these would be very plentiful, only difference would be the seat brackets. Josh
-
Glad to see everything is going better for you Rick! Sorry i couldnt paypal you anymore, the XJ has swallowed all extra funds. If you need tools or something just PM and I'll do all that I can. Josh
