The turn signal lever broke off inside the column. Long story short I replaced the whole combination switch and now the key doesn't work. I changed the ignition switch on the column but now the gears inside the column where the tumbler inserts are off. The one is tilted horrifically to the left. Does this mean the column is toast or is there a way to fix it?

The pioneer already has the d44 in the rear with AC, PS. It's an 4.0 with auto trans 2wd. I'd like to keep it 2wd cause I'm not going to drive it in the winter. I have a cargo light to add with a "Comanche" bedliner and a roll bar ( anyone know if the roll bar with block the cargo light?) I grabbed a wood dash from an XJ and I also got a maroon (the my interior color) overhead dome light with the map lights and an XJ sound bar. I also have monogrammed maroon floor mats ( found them in an XJ at the junkyard) it already has intermittent wipers too. I like the idea of the door buzzer and headlight delay and possibly the footwell lights too. Anybody know how to add such features?

I'll try to post pictures of this thing when I get a chance. There is literally an inch of dust all over the thing from sitting for so long.

The only thing I got with the truck was a bill if sale. It was an out of state purchase (bought it in PA) and I knew I was going to be a trailer queen trail rig so I really wasn't too worried about it but knowing what I know now I'm alittle worried about having it seized. I just checked now and some things don't seem to add up to me. It does have bucket seats with a mini console. There doesn't seem to be any evidence that there ever was a full console but I could be wrong. The PO owner either used it as a farm truck or hauled hay in the cab cause it's EVERYWHERE! It also has power locks but not power windows? No joystick on the mirror either. Could this thing be a late model 90 or is just a hodgepodge mess?

The reason I'm going to make the eliminator a trail rig is because it's way beyond repair. The bed, cab corners, rockers, tailgate, doors, fenders, everything is a rusted mess. The PO literally hacked the wiring harness and yanked the engine out for some reason. I would love to restore it but it's just way too far gone for my abilities. The pioneer is in way better shape. As I've been reading on here power windows/ locks seem to be a rare thing on Comanches but (memory is a little fuzzy) it has power windows/ locks and the adjustable mirrors with the joystick. It's grey interior with a mini console and bucket seats. Cargo light and rear sliding window. I'll take some pictures today if you guys would like to see it.

I'm not sure what year the eliminator is. Basically what I'm asking is what would the eliminator have that the pioneer wouldn't? I'm not sure of the year because there is no title and the inspection tag wore off. I was told it was a 90 but according to a build reference sheet they didn't make 4x4 eliminators in 90.

I have an 89 pioneer that I'm in the process of restoring and I plan on adding some "goodies" to it. I'm trying to keep everything to most factory options. I also have an eliminator (not sure of the year) that it going to be a trail truck. Is there any real difference in the comfort features that I could rob off the eliminator to add to the pioneer? I know some late models came with the headlight delay and door buzzer and such. That's more the things I'm looking for.

I'll check in the next few days and see if the headliner is any good. I'll let you know. Also depends on where you're at because it's probably not the best idea to ship it. I'm in north east ohio right on the PA boarder
-
How soon are you looking to get a headliner? I have one in my 90 that I'm going to replace with a sunroof headliner I just have to pull the old one out.
-
I remember you showing me your CD player and it's pretty sweet. I'm liking the idea of getting the other half of the 86 harness like you mentioned before. The chance of finding another factory CD player is going to be pretty slim.
-
The one without the cassette is the one I really wanted to use because it has the AMC logo on the face of it but since I can't use that one I want to get one with a cassette player.
-
I'd prefer it to have a cassette.
-
This is the one I'd really like to use but the harness isn't the same. And this is the one I have. The LCD screen is bad on it but other than that it works fine.
-
I have a radio/cassette player now but the LCD screen isn't working anymore. I have 2 other stock radios that came in MJs but the wiring harness isn't the same. Any help would be appreciated.

I ran the H4 bulb conversion on my XJ for awhile. I used 60watt lows with 100watt highs if I do recall. They weren't exactly street legal but I never had any problems with the police. I had cheap housings that I got off eBay and I bought the hella lights from 4wd. They were much brighter than stock. I upgraded to the truck lite LED lights now (really pricey but I got them as a gift so why not?) but they aren't "soft white" like you are looking for they are "cool white" which has a tiny bit of a blue tinge to them.

I'm not saying I'm going to add the EFI because I really want to keep things cost effective and simple. The YJ motor I'm not really worried about I can get my hands on one. If it's the case where I could just bolt the 4.2 head on the 4.0 block that would be the best way to go for me. I have the transmission, transfercase, and driveshafts I'm just missing the motor.
-
I know it's an old subject but I think I'm leaning more toward a YJ 4.2l to put inside the MJ. I also noticed in my newest 4WD catalog that they now offer the "EZ-EFI self tuning fuel injection system" for the CJ/YJ 4.2l with the in tank and in line fuel pump system. Looks pretty cool if you ask me.
-
That's what I was afraid you'd say. I'd like to keep something that originally came in a Comanche but I don't want to deal with fuel injection.
-
Yes that is correct. It sounds crazy but I think it's the simplest way to go
-
Although I'm still working on one MJ I'm starting to get ideas for my second, trail rig MJ. It was originally a 4.0 automatic 4x4 but the PO hacked the engine and wiring harness out. I'm thinking of going back to the V6 from early XJ/MJ instead of trying to mess with the fuel injection. So my questions are, what automatics were offered with the 2.8 and would it bolt up to my aw4?

2000 Xj Injector Help!
boardmanMJ replied to boardmanMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks for the help everyone! I see that I could also use mid 90s dodge stratus' (from a few other write ups I read) but all the write ups seem to be for the pre 2000-01 4.0l. I also read that the injectors have to be our of a 2.4l engine in order for them to flow right. Would these injectors work with my 00 XJ motor? Sorry for the stupid questions. Found out the information I needed on NAXJA I need the 784 injectors off 98+ 2.4l motors for my 00. Thanks! -
I have been reading some write ups on jeep forum and Cherokee forum and they said that it's possible to swap ford 5.0l injectors onto the jeep 4.0l. I was browsing the clearance section at the local summit racing equipment and I came across a bag of 8 remanufactured injectors for the 5.0 for $25. I couldn't pass it up so I grabbed them and tried to swap them in. The plugs aren't even close to being correct. I have no idea what year the injectors are off of they just said 5.0l injectors. I also read that you can swap in mid 90s era stratus injectors but would they work on my 00 XJ? Any help would be appreciated.
