  1. Hello all. Quick question: Will a NP231 that's been taken off a BA10/5 bolt on to am AX5? I know they're both equipeed with a 21 spline input, but is there anything else I should be looking at?
  2. Awesome! Thanks for thr ideas, guys!
  3. Hello all. I'm going to start boogering stuff together and am wondering where you guys buy your plate and DOM tube. I'm still looking locally, but am having a tough time finding anything worthwhile.
  4. I think a HPD30 would survive if trussed and sleeved, especially if you use a leter model with the larger u-joints.
  5. lol I hear ya! We toyed with the idea of rolling them for it's first offroad run, just to freak people, but alas...they're 14's. They're actually in very good condition. If had an old MG, I'd definitely rock them out!
  6. I know y'all like action pics, so here goes: I know...it's not ultra-mega-hardcore rock krawling, but it's fun to go dune blasting. :)
  7. Some progress: More decals/adhesive taken off as well as the removal of some questionable wiring and lights installed by the PO. Mandatory engine pic: Interior: Going to have to check ALL electrical connections: Looking a bit rough: Fusion to the Rescue!: Some progress: Much better:
  8. Thanks. :) I'll be stealing ideas from your XJ builds!
  9. Nice. I wish mine was original. The PO of the manual I have wrote down THEIR VIN in it. Kind of a bummer, but I won't dwell on it. lol
  10. The AX15 IS the R154. The AX5 is tje G series toyota tranny.
  11. 200hp? I'd be looking into a tranny other than an AX5 if I planned on hitting those #'s. The 4.0HO put out 190 and needed an AX15.
  12. I feel bad for the guy who tries to follow me around and tries to rob me.
  13. I'm with you on that. I guess my post was directed towards the guys that always come up and say that Jeeps don't need freer breathing.
  14. First things first. We changed the fluids, took off most of the MANY decals, and put it on my old MJ take offs along with a new set of LT235/75R15 Hercules Terra Trac RS tires. It's looking more like a Jeep, has a definite low profile to it (which my brother likes)and actually performs pretty well for what it is. Next up, suspension refresh/mods and continued elimination of decals/ghetto bling. Stay tuned!
  15. Hello all. It just so happens that my brother caught the Jeep bug again. After some consideration, he decided he wanted to build sonething a bit milder than hid past Jeeps. He wanted something easy to drive, that gets good mileage, and that hasn't had the crap hammered out of it. He mostly wants it for foul weather DD duties, mild off roading, and camping/exploring. With this in mind, we started looking around locally for the proverbial "old man" Jeep. Something that has been taken care of (or at leaat not abused), isn't too expensive to buy or own, and has a decent amount of space. In out area, this means either a clean XJ or ZJ. We found this on CL: It's a 2 door (score!) 95 XJ with a 2.5 and a 5 speed. It has a HPD30 and a 35. Apparently, the old guy who owned it was a fan of the Transformers AND lowriders. The wire wheels and the "Megatron" decals written in Old English lettering attest to that. It rode very well, is reasonably straight, has a pretty clean interior, and everything works as it should. The price was right, so why not? We took it home.
  16. ^^^This. More air is always better. So what if your engine doesn't use all of it. There's no reason to restrict it.
  17. Thanks. :) I was pretty excited when i scooped it.
  18. Just go with a decent quality synthetic like Amsoil or Mobil 1 for a lower pour point and you should be fine, I think.
  19. I just rapped mine all around with a rubber mallet until it came off.
  20. Synchromesh works really well in ny MR2. Better than Royal Purple, actually. Next fluid change will be with Redline fluid. I'll keep y'all posted. As far as being hesitant to use 10-30 in an Aisin, don't be. 10-30 has the same protection as 80-90, believe it or not.
  21. I forgot to mention that this is at start up. Once I've been driving for a while, shifting to any gear is smooth.
  22. Cool. Thanks for the heads up! I too like that they fold up and out of the way. Makes for a sleeker look when stowed but you still have cup holders when you need them.
