Guy Appears at the Front Door, Wants to Buy my MJ
pitbull4x4 replied to 1987Comanche's topic in The Pub
I saw a Comanche sitting by house and wife said it got a for sale sign. Went back and saw $450 OBO After talking to guy and asking the least he would take I came backnext day with $325 and drove it home. I'm having body work done and the guy doing it called and asked if I wanted to sell it and if so how much. Tell him $1,500 and luckily they say to much. He's putting in new floors, inner and outter rockers and cab corners. Last summer got bed sides fixed. Has a 99 front end on now, and put bucket seats in. -
I have got both upper and lower control arms off of a 99-04 WJ for my 4wd swap. I want to put new bushings in and would like to know what bushings to get and best place. Thanks

Anyone looking for bed-side Patch Panels?
pitbull4x4 replied to jpnjim's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
My bed sides were rusted out. I cut it out at good metal and used front fenders for patch panels. Looks good sorry can't post pictures -
I'm doing the 4wd swap and having new floors, inner and outer rockers, and cab corners put on I don't want them messed up. So I would like to see pictures of rock rails and how you mounted them. Thanks

Thanks hornbrod. Will be getting them from guy I got the LCAs from. It will be a DD but get some off road. Yes I looked at the uppers and thought those look so weak and it got me wondering if WJs would work.

Vrry nice looking bumper -
I'm doing the 4wd swap and picked up WJ lower control arms. Has anyone used the upper control arms off of a WJ ? Will they work or just stay with my current ones ? Its a 89 Comanche, 4.0, auto

Blue XJ, yes I'm interested in the transmission. I live just south of Fort Wayne, In. Any idea what you want for it ?
-
Thanks for the posting ggcnash. After reading it looks like going to find one for years 87-90.
-
Ok have another question. I heard the transmission out of a 99 Cherokee has a computer and will not work ? Is this true or will the transmission be a bolt in with no issues ? And yes know need a 4wd trans but not doing the swap until spring
-
I have a 89 Comanche, 4.0 , auto , 2wd. Going to do 4WD swap and found a guy with a 99 Cherokee, 4.0, auto, 4wd with a 231 or 232 T-Case wanting to know if this T-Case will work

I found out the hard way and ordered C2C. They were way off on the bottom bends. But we made them work with redoing them. I got the bottom bends straighten out and got new bends to match the front of rocker. He than cut it on the bottom back to match the back bends. Got it fabed together and put on, so now I have rust free rockers

Like others have said you will get one. I have had 3. My resent one was just a lucky find. Driving through a small town where a Comanche has been for a few years. Saw a sign in window went back. After talking to guy made deal. Next daygave him $325.00 and drove it home. Had the normal rust spots. But when I get it back from guy doing body work. Cab corners, rockers, floors, and bed will be fixed. And adding a 99 XJ front clip. Good luck on finding and getting one

Using struts on Comanche hood
pitbull4x4 replied to pitbull4x4's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs

Comanche guru's need your opinion
pitbull4x4 replied to pitbull4x4's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yep , when its time just leaving the 4.0 in and get parts off Cherokee -
A friend said I can get a 2000 Cherokee 4wd, auto, 5.2 V-8 on the cheap side, to do my 4WD swap. I have a 89 2WD Comanche, 4.0, auto. I know anything is possible, but in a nut shell would it be worth all the work. it's going to be a daily driver, not much off road. Or just use my 4.0 and get tranny, t-case, and axles (dana 30, dana 35)

Daily driver. Go SOA or not
pitbull4x4 replied to pitbull4x4's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thank you all for reply. I forgot to s ay it has a really bad rake IMO. Front looks like it sits down about 4 or 5 inches. Have measured it as it said in the diy . About 4 1/2 inch different. You sit inside and hood looks like its hitting the ground. Tires on it now are 235-75-15. Yes know 31s will fit with no lift but want a mild lift. I do use the bed alot. can't post pictures but if someone would let me send one than they could post and everyone could see. Also only paid $325.00 for it and drove it home -
I have a 89 Comanche 2wd,4.0, auto. Getting things for 4wd switch. As it will be mostly a daily driver would it be better to run a 3 inch lift or go with the SOA. Most likly going with 31s. Any help would be help

question on front coils
pitbull4x4 replied to pitbull4x4's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks -
Got a 89 Comanche. It has a bad rake look. Back is 4 inches higher than front at top of wheel wells. From middle of front axle to bottom of fender is 13 1/2 inches, back is 17 1/2 inches. To get it looking right or better would 4 1/2 inch bigger coils work ? If to high what rear shackles would I use to get it right. 89 Comanche is a 4.0, auto,2wd, long bed

Comanche Cab Corners Question
pitbull4x4 replied to pitbull4x4's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Our take -a-part got a 89 Comanche in,4.0, auto 2WD. Was 50% off everything. Saturday only thing gone was bucket seats , tail lights, clock. Today went back and got cab corners, gauge cluster with tack. Guys took bed and tailgate. Another guy was pulling parts off front end. Its going quickly Believe it or not i only paid $20.79 for corners and cluster -
We all know it about impossible to find good solid cab corners. If you could find solid unrusted corners what would they go for ?
