  1. Pete has volunteered my house for the next gathering. I was thinking next spring or summer. I have a good pocket of active members around me, and am somewhat more centrally located than Detroit. Plus, I have 2000 sq ft of house to go around, so plenty of room. Maybe we could convince Worlds Fastest Comanche Peter to fire up the warbeast. (20 minutes away from me) Rob
  2. I had one of those "Millitary Spec" Boulders like I think your talking about... Worst phone I have ever had. Work dumped our Nextel Direct connect to save money, and got Verizon with that phone. I had broken it within a day. Dropped it from hip height, and broke that stupid looking nut that holds on the battery door in half. The reception sucked, the "water proof" speakers were muffled and a bear to make sense of, and they were junky. But, anyway, glad you got your phone fixed. I have been worried about causing damage to the phone exposing it to so much vacuum. Rob

Yet another member that goes way back. Real way back. Hark to the days of Aslith, XJs4ever, hornbrod, and some other old cogers still lurking. Pete, it is because of you that we are where we are today. I remember watching the post count by month on the old group, waiting to break hundreds of posts in a month. Now, I think we surpass that in a week. The site is much easier to navigate, more user friendly for new guys, and appealing to look at. Fine job sir. Not only that, but you are one of the only ones that can hold a candle to my amount of MJ crazy. Brothers cut from the same cloth. I've been waiting for the perfect time to spring this on you, and I think there was a general "overdue" consensus when I got a hold of the other mods. Always a pleasure sharing the helm with you, and helping you remember that lost item/thing/thought when your ever infamously poor memory kicks in. I'm glad we got the chance to all get together again, have some drnks, and catch up again. Its always good to put faces to names, and wallow in the MJ crazy with a few of your fellow nut jobs. I wish we could have spent more time out there. But, anyway... So here is to you old master of the MJ's... Enjoy the spotlight. Rob L.
  4. Black steelies piss in your wheaties... We know. Rob :D

  12. Time for The Henry Ford. Since I conned Angela into making a vacation out of this weekend and using her car, I had to satisfy some non MJ activities... Also, since Ben got a ride for us, and was down for whatever, he tagged along. Turned out to be really neat. The Museum: Kennedy limo Angela and this little guy Snow plow For Sir Sam: Steam engine time And for the Village: Inside the shop, with a mock up of what it might have looked like when building the plane All woodwork inside was hand carved by Wilbur and Orville. Traffic Mayhem Heard some racket over a hill, found a period correct baseball game going, then someone hit a home run over the tracks. Huzzah! Glass shop Machine Shop: Angela getting the Steam Whistle instructions Pull! Angela and my sweaty @$$ standing by her rope. Walking out. You guys should have came!!! That's not even half the pictures, and we didn't even have time to stop at some things! Tons of fun! Rob
  13. Could be... Either way, its a factory bar, for $50 I would just buy it and sit on it until the right one turned up. Who am I kidding. I would probably buy a shortbed MJ to put it on... Rob :D
  14. Really glad you found your way here. That truck is a good base for something good. Its less rusty than most for this area. If you need some ideas or help, we have huge cluster of members in our area, including a few really nice trucks, and the Land Speed Record Comanche. I'm just over the border in IL. Rob
  15. It is. Rob
  16. Welp, now that I finally have some time to sit down, here is my synopsis. Good trip. Ben stopped by my place on his way from MN, and I gave him the dime tour of my MJ stash. He spent the night, and we left Friday morning bound for Pete's. Angelas car was loaded down with tools, a welder, chainsaw, bumper, and other goodies. Torrential rain plagued us practically the whole way there. The Corolla did great, as it usually does. Once we got to Pete's, Jay (somnus) was already there, as well as a friend of Pete's. After getting the dime tour there, we tore into it. Marcel (Mvusse) Showed up a bit later on, and jumped in. As a whole, we got a ton done on Pete's fleet. Summary: '90: Vacuum lines pieced in Air filter put on Rear shackles changed Floor cut out and welded in Exhaust removed, drilled out studs on the header Rims/Tires swapped Window regulator changed out U-joint put in the rear driveshaft Output shaft seal Front bumper exchanged '88: Brake booster changed out Rear perches tacked on Spring bolts tightened up Brakes bled Motivated the starter to start General tasks: Tree trimmed Tree taken down Logs cut up and stacked I am sure I am forgetting some stuff too. We had a tent for the first couple days, but we did get to see Pete's friend the code enforcement guy sniffing around Pete's house while we were there. He had actually told Pete to remove the tent because he didn't have a permit for it. We got the full experience, hassle and all. :D Other activities included the group trip to the WPChrysler museum, and the side trip for Angela, Ben, and I to the Henry Ford. I can't even begin to tell you how disappointed I was with the Chrysler museum. First off, they didn't have anyone there to give us the guided tour, as I set up weeks in advance. No one had an explanation why, but it seemed that when I told the manager who I had set everything up with, he knew where the problem was. While he was very apologetic, that didn't put the tour guide back in the tour. We trucked on by ourselves throughout the museum, starting with the beginning of Chrysler, and worked our way around chronologically. After seeing some cool stuff on the top few floors, we were all excited to hit the basement, where the "Boss Chryslers Garage" was, and where the "70 years of Jeep" was. Boy was that sad. The whole tribute to Jeep was a handful of Jeeps, and not one single MJ. No XJ's, no ZJ's, no FSJ's... weak. There was a CJ2A, a CJ5, a MA, Willys Wagon, Jeepster, The Sahara TJ, and that was pretty much it. Pics: It's up for ADOPTION! We could sponsor this for a year, and put the club name on the plaque for $450. Chryslers answer for a tank engine. Take 5 I6's, make them turn a common shaft... Kinda neat. The only mention of our small piece of the pie in the whole "70 years of Jeep". Angela and the Sahara TJ. (She has the hots for Steve Zahn) For Bo And finally, the Forced Family Fun shot. Hard to get everyone to stand in front of a camera. Left to Right: Automan2164 Neohic Mvusse Pete M Somnus The Henry Ford / wrenching pics tomorrow. Rob
  17. Still working on it on my end. I tried a massive upload last night, it ended in calamity. I cleaned everything up, and am re-uploading now... Rob
  18. Yes, yes, I have pics (some 500+) that I will put on FB. I will post a link up to them once I get the whole shebang uploaded... But, I just want to relax. We just got done with a 6+ hour drive in Chicago traffic, and I just want to crack a beer. Good times, good dudes... Details to come. Rob
  19. I try to argue this with my "Anti-gun" friends. They are the type of people who think all guns are bad, and guns kill people.... Yadda yadda yadda. What no one seems to realize is that by outlawing guns, you are only keeping the responsible gun owners that abide by the rules from having them. Legal or not, that thug will still have one. I would at least be able to have one too, legally. I bet more crooks would think twice if they knew that a couple people in that building they are going to rob might be packing. Rob .
  20. Isn't the potentiometer the white thing on top of the circuit board with the Phillips adjustment? Rob.
  21. Close but no cigar Jeff. :D Matt has the early Eliminator, and has the 1st gen decals. Have you tried Spencer over at Jeep sticker? Rob
  22. Anything yet? Rob
  23. :clapping:
