my 1988 jeep comanche "ole rusty"
Automan2164 replied to freakjeep93's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Sounds good man. Just know that we don't say stuff like this to be mean. We just want to help ya out... I would grind off the welds, and the flat stock you welded on, and find some channel or something... Something with some box strength to hold up to the tension. Also, I hate to say this, but the one you were building before, does that one have a good frame? It might be easier, and quicker, to just transplant like you were going to... That frame will take a lot more time and effort to get right than taking the drivetrain out and putting it into a more solid platform. Rob L. ;) -
On a side note, while watching cars, I just noticed Jake's avatar, and his MJ has the cars eyes in the windshield, and the mouth under the bumper... nicely done. Rob L. :D

Eh, Just keep an eye out... Brent($500MJ) and I went to a swap meet, and found this HUGE pole barn with all sorts of vendors... We found what seemed like miles of tables from one guy who had almost every pin you could imagine... Then we found it: We found 2 at first, one had a missing headlight... Then we found a third, and Brent exchanged the missing headlight for the better one. I know, now that I look back on it, we should have just bought the broken headlight one... Because chances of finding another are about 0. Pete already beat me up for that... Moral of the story, keep a good eye out for things, and you just might find a keychain again. Also, Keep an eye out for the 1985 Commemorative coin, which was released by jeep with the release of the comanche... On July of 1985... Has a pic of the comanche, and looks cool. I can't find a picture of mine though... but trust me, its sweet. Rob L.

Would some 10 holes off of an XJ work? I know will and I saw a '96 2 door sport with like 60K on a CFC trade in MINT condition... I believe it had the 10 holes, but the XJ variety... Which I think is the same, but one or the other has a simulated beadlock or whatever... Rob L.

jeep gladiator.....real nice truck...can it be purchased?
Automan2164 replied to STERLING STINGER's topic in The Pub
why do you say that....thats a bigger truck and motor.....what its built weak or something? the mj has boxed frame tons of opewer for its size 4wd tats strong for its size and can go WAY more places stock then a modified ram 3500 could go. Nah, I think he was referring to what a truck "Used to be". Back when the MJ's were made, it was uncommon to find amenities like power windows and locks, cushy seats, cd players, power seats... Now they have all that and more... The MJ is much more closer to its "Utilitarian" roots, and therefore more of a truck than any cushy, plush ride of a newer truck could be. Rob L. -
Ok... so who is coming to my house first (Pat, Jake, Dave?)? I know will is going straight there... Rob L.

Ok, so one minor little detail... What time do we all want to meet up? Rob L.

bellhousing questions.
Automan2164 replied to freakjeep93's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Not entirely. After 99 the NV3550 was put in and some Wranglers 05+ got the NSG 370 6 speed, but IMO it's not really worth the hassle. Mr. Techical. :smart: Rob L. -
Until we find a Dakota with an AX15... Rob L.

Because, you need the clutch pedal, slave(if applicable), linkage, resivoir, transmission, correct bellhousing, correct flywheel, correct driveshaft, clutch assembly, finding a trans, column shifter(if on tree), and as I said before, I HIGHLY DOUBT, Chevy made it as easy as jeep did. I bet its going to be a ton harder, not to mention sourcing all the parts for a truck thats nearly 30 years old. Rob L.

:fs1: Rob L.

Probably not as easy as auto to manual in a Jeep. IIRC, there is a TON more involved. Rob L.
-
You are going to need a trans. Rob L.

:rotfl2: and you found this out how? Well, I had just done the rear axle on the ZJ, went for a test drive, and turned around at the weigh station... It was late, and I had never driven up to it, so I did. Got up to the window, and noticed the red 0 was on inside... Drove on, found out the scale actually works, and that the ZJ weighs 5,450 Lbs. Rob L.
