Yep, they be high lift jacks... At the "Fancy" yards down by me, the cars are like you stated, all on rims, and off the ground. But at this particular yard, the employees walk around with beer and sandals... All bets are off there... We did have one bonehead moment when we jacked it up by the rear bumper, and I grabbed onto the leaf spring to reach under, and I almost tipped it onto myself. All I ended up doing was sideshifting the lower quarter right into the ball hitch on an old jeepster. I love the highlift, and we even carry some on the Fire Department rigs for technical rescues/extrications. Sure, there are a lot of easier things to use, but in a pinch when all else fails, they will be sitting there in their simple mechanical glory to save the day. Rob L. :D

Well, after a heads up from Pat(JeepcoMJ), and Wade(89Eliminator) about a very clean '87 Metric Ton sitting in a yard up in Wisconsin, Pat and I have been making plans to go get it. Its one of those "Good ol' boys" yards, so they always seem to have a beer. We went up there a few weeks ago and got a price, $300 for the bed only, or $400 for the whole back half of the truck (Including the D44  ). I called back earlier in the week to talk price, and after a tip from Wade, finally settled with the owner of the yard on a price of $300, and 2 cases of Budweiser. Wade had already gotten the tails, tailgate, the rockers, and cab corners off the truck. We headed up there today, and picked it up. Pat pulled it out with his truck, we put some tires on the back, as well as one on the front, and went back down to talk to the owner about where he wanted to cut it up at. Ended up towing it to the torch truck, and having one of the guys cut and sawzall the truck in half. Since Wade took out the floors and corners, sitting down and steering/stopping was sketchy while Pat was towing me down to the torch truck in it. I fashioned a seat out of a rim and tire, and it worked out pretty good. During and after the cut: After getting it in half, we offered to tow the other manche half to where ever, and they told us to take it by the crusher. :( So we did, and I got an interesting ride. That thing was all sorts of squirrely dragging on the frame rails, and Pat didn't hold back. He had that thing fishtailing all over the place, and gave it a good last ride. Also ended up talking the guy out of crushing it... and keeping it around for parts for us in the future. :D Pats little brother let us borrow his snowmobile trailer, and we got it loaded up onto that for the ride back to my place. Stopped in for a beer and a burger at a place nearby, and found a bar that had AWESOME 1 POUND BURGERS... It was delicious... American, Cheddar, Pepperjack cheeses, Bacon, onions... all on a big slab of texas toast with waffle fries... So good. So now I have a set of Metric Ton springs, D44 with 3.55's, a clean longbed, a spare longbed gas tank, and a bunch of other little stuff. There is no rust in the frame what so ever. All for $300 and a couple cases of beer. The guys even gave us a few beers to sit and chat with them once everything was loaded up... Good bunch of guys, and they will look for MJ's for us from now on. Rob L.

A firefighter that's not a fan of bright red? That's unamerican. ;) Rob L. :D

you may need to lower the price of your MJ :dunno: Actually I just sold mine, for more than what they're asking for the pre-runner. :D Good deal Darren! What did you end up getting for it, and did you pass on the CC name? Rob L.

Anyone think of a clogged cat? Rob L. -
Am I the only one who thinks that the guy needs to say "Which way did he go george, which way did he go?" That voice kills me. And the fact that it looks like he's cutting up a rust free truck. :fs1: Rob L.

LKQ trip and Meet and Greet > FEB 6th, 2010.

I just sat down, and tried this for the first time, at the urging of some friends: Not bad... Won't say i'll get it all the time, but if its around, I could drink it. Brent, ever heard of The hook and ladder brewing company? Its a beer started by some firefighters... They make good stuff, and have some good dark stuff also... And a portion of all the proceeds goes to burn treatment funds. Wisconsin is starting to sell it in a lot of places. http://www.hookandladderbeer.com/Public/Content.aspx And Jake, you know the rules... :smart: Its going to be a Saturday, and if any under-agers want to drink, its up to you. I can help you get the stuff, but it doesn't leave my place, as soon as you start drinking, even if its just a sip, you aren't leaving until Sunday morning. I have plenty of room, and anyone is welcome to stay. Even those of age. No sense of anyone drinking and driving. ;) Plus, I have the air-hockey table, pool table, ping pong, and all sorts of jazz in the lower level. Rob L. -
Also make sure you used dual filament bulbs when you replaced the brake lights... Putting a single filament bulb in sometimes shorts the parking light and brakes together, making for some weird stuff. Rob L.

Check fuses? Do you have dash lights? Rob L.

FIRST THING TO DO is check the condition of the ground. The driver's side tail should have a ground screwed into the box right behind the tail light... Check that wire, and get back to us. Rob L.

Hopefully by then I will have my longbed and D44, but I will still go just to scope out the territory, grab small items, and help my fellow MJ'ers... Beer's at my house afterwards! Rob L. -

O2 Sensor Simulator...
Automan2164 replied to Automan2164's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I recently plugged it into the scanner at work, and ended up with a catalyst code... I wish it didn't know about the sensor... That would have made things so much easier... But, the computer knows, and its shows a MIL request. :( Rob L. -
Anyone know how to make an oxygen sensor simulator? My ZJ is with out a catalytic converter, and I need to duplicate the slower, downstream sine wave you would after the cat has burned off the junk... Posted that here because an O2 sim is something everyone should know how to do... Myself included. :D Something tells me Mr. Hornbrod will know how... This electrical stuff is his forte. ;) Rob L.

I don't know how it works for you, but this is what happened to me when I got hit in the cab corner, not my fault, and unavoidable.... The adjuster came out, and I struck somewhat of a friendship with him. He was an old body guy, and I talked to him about his old days in the business. Also talked about my truck, and the money I had into it, in paint, lift, wheels and tires... Etc. He agreed it was a nice truck, and he would get back to me with what it was worth. He came back with it being totaled out, and offered $1000... My ins company told me to not settle on the first offer, and after some going back and fourth the adjuster asked about my working at a dealer, and told me to make some "recipts" for what I had done to the truck... I did, and I ended up with $2000 in a check, and they let me keep the truck with a clean title, free and clear. Don't settle, and demand the title be left clean. The accident was NOT your fault. :smart: Rob L.

Is it an "Maint Req'd" light? If so, its just a timer under the dash... Unplug it, and the light will go away... I think it was set to go off at 82,500 miles or something... Looks like a clear box with some gears... Rob L.
