  1. Some friends of mine were heading the same direction, and took a Wrangler emblem, and machined the word "B----"... Put the two together and Made a B---- Wrangler emblem fitting of the Jeep. They were trying to convince me to put it on the ZJ... Rob L.
  2. Keys aren't going to stop me. Rob L.
  3. I work on, maintain and install all of the equipment on the police fleet in a town of 30,000, and none of the cars have a lo-jack locating device. I would rather live in my town of 9,000, and no lo-jack locators, than move to a town of 50,000+, to have "high tech" equipment... Rob L.
  4. Jeez... I must be sitting around on like $400 worth of tail lights if yours got $200... These people are nuts. But like P.T. Barnum said, sucker born every minute. good pull SW2. Rob L.
  5. Apparently, he hasn't done it yet, or had a need to dig it out of the depths of the warehouse. Rob L. :(
  6. Get an aussie locker for the front, and don't look back. Rob L.
  7. Moderation. Also, type of booze, the kind of person you are, your tolerances, etc, etc... Also, drinking plenty of water after drinking help, as most of a hangover comes from the alcohol sapping the system of H20. One of the medics in the town over used to carry a few bags of IV fluids... Get trashed, run a line to sober himself up, and drive home... I don't know whether thats really stupid or somewhat smart... :dunno: Rob L.
  8. It is... It all starts with a pound of bacon and 2 lbs of smoked sausage... Onions, tons of garlic for spice, idaho's, kale greens, and heavy creme... Lots of people ask for the recipe, but I do everything to taste, so its hard. Rob L.
  9. No hang over, but I did drink mass quantities of booze. I think I offset it with my potato soup I made though... Rob L.
  10. That is one sexy longbed Eliminator. Rob L.
  11. Me too. Time to switch to light beer. http://www.youtube.com/user/graffiti62# ... GpVi7aIK-I Rob L.
  12. Party was good, but not nearly as good as the soup. Mmm. Mmm. Went fast. Tons of beer left over... I'll have to make another pot of soup for sure. Rob L.
  13. PM SENT! Rob L.

A lot of ideas changed over the course of the build. From keeping it stock to going full resto-mod. The only things I wish I could undo is the paint shop we used and the RRO control arm drop brackets. The paint looks good it is just the quality of the prep work that went in to it. As for the drop brackets, you get what you pay for. The future plans for the build, not a lot will change. Still need to plant the motor in it's home, which is very close now. Order parts to include shocks, carpet, various interior switches, brake lines front and rear, all hoses and vacuum tubing under the hood, and a few more odds and ends. Front and rear bumpers will be powder coated black. The bed will get lined and a Jack Rabbit roll up bed cover will be installed. I'm sure there will be more. :D Best MJ story Since this is the first MJ in the family, and it really has not seen the road yet, my story is on it's purchase. My son and I had planned on doing a resto project on whatever he decided would be his first car. He wanted something that wasn't a cookie cutter vehicle that everyone had and one that wasn't trying to be in the next Fast and Furious film. Well like most we considered the late 60's mustangs and camero's. As time came closer to starting the hunt for one, we were out and about and saw a very nicely restored old Chevy pickup. My son said, I think I'd like to get an older truck. I was happy with that decision because that was my first vehicle, a 66 Chevy C10. Well it seems he liked the late 70's but then I remembered about the side saddle gas tank issues, so I steered him away from those. Looked at the early 80's Fords, but nothing seem to jump out at us. Then it happened. Cruising Craigslist, using truck as our search word, we came across 88 Jeep Truck. I had long forgotten about the Comanche and during their day, only new one person that had one. My son said that's cool looking and unique, so off we went to check it out. 9 p.m. that night, it was parked in the driveway with visions of restored bliss, going through both of our heads. I was very proud of his decision to have a Jeep since I myself have had a love with them since high school and currently drive a TJ. I never planned to pass my addition on to him but I guess it was genetic. What owner loves best about CC The fact that we all share a common bond with our trucks, regardless of age, or race, or gender, or what part of the world we live in. We communicate our ideas, our knowledge, our personal life, to people we have never met face to face. Yet it feels like were talking amongst family and close friends. I found CC by a random search, just to find info on the truck sitting in the driveway. However, I found much more. Wrenches Gone WILD!!! Thanks for the info Paul. One great truck. Its amazing how clean everything is, and your laser focused attention to detail. The truck looks like it is going to be a sweet MJ. But, MJOTM isn't just about the truck, and the person behind it is just as cool. Your always there to lend tech advice, and help other members out. Even going that extra mile for pics, and explanations. Couldn't be a better person for this month's MJOTM. Congrats Paul! :D Rob L.
  15. Best I can do here, with the limited knowlege... (not being able to crawl all over it) 2.5L 150CI TBI Iron block, parent pore. AX4 Manual Transmission: http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/ax5.htm Dana Spicer 35 rear axle, 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern. Most likely, You have 3.55 gear, with the 4 speed. With a 5 speed, 4.10's are common. Rob L.
  16. Yeah, but that 6.5L Diesel is a turd... I work on them on and off since we have a few city trucks running them... Loud as crap, not much power to be had for all the noise it makes... Real finnicky POS. The injector pump seems to be the root problem A LOT. It was a bad design from the start, and the engine is better suited as a boat anchor. The 4.0 may leak, spit, burn oil, and act weird if not taken care of, but it will always come back for more... Its a hard bastard to kill. PM me if you want with the problems with the 6.5L... May be able to help ya out. Rob L.
  17. :shake: Anyway... Back to your regular scheduled programming. Rob L. :typing:
  18. Why do you have to post the same question in two seperate threads? How 'bout that tough guy? Rob L. :fs2:
  19. Fair enough. I understand where you are going... But I think the guys are just a little agitated that you are bagging on the 4.0L. I don't think they are telling you that you should swap it in, but trying to tell you its a good engine... Having said that, I will say this: 1. The 4.0L is a good engine. 2. The oil "Blow by" you have seen and heard horror stories of, is not so much blow by, as it is a problem with the CCV system. I think you have given it a bad wrap. I just want to show you its a good engine, (and I know you don't want to put one in ;) ) My one donor had 298,000 Miles on the 4.0L, and once I fixed the CCV system, didn't drop one bit of oil in the filter. :brows: 3. The only "Real" problematic 5 speed is the BA 10 5 (Peugot), that was found behind the 4.0L, '87-'89. 4. The AX5 5 speed is IDENTICAL to the AX4 in your truck now, except the emission of one gear, the AX5 is a very stout, reliable transmission behind the 2.5L. What I reccommend for your 2.5L(If kept TBI): 1. Cold air intake of somesort to help the sucking of good stuff. 2. Aftermarket header to help the blowing of bad stuff 3. Throttle body spacer to increase the available fuel air mixture. 4. Electric fan converison. Loose the drag on the engine, and give it an E-fan. 5. Decent exhaust after the header. 2.25 should be fine... 6. GEARS! No worries mate... But please understand, the 4.0L is a good engine... You just may not have had a good experience. Rob L.
  20. You keep saying this. :headpop: It really irritates me. I like ya so far, seem to be a bit of a wildcard, like myself. But coming into the Comanche forum, and bagging on the 4.0l, as well as a stout little 5 speed, isn't the best way to get on everyone's good side. Everything on this truck is a cheap and simple fix. As for the axles, that yard we are all going to on the 6th of Feb, has axles for set prices. You could pick up a late model, Chryco 8.25 with 29 spline axleshafts for $85 drum to drum. You could get a non-disco Dana 30 disc to disc for $130. Not bad for a 4wd conversion. Also, the transmissions are $90, as the transfer cases $90 also. Easy as pie 4WD conversion, with a drive-train that would run until the world runs out of fuel. That 2.5 will run forever. Also, Pat(JeepcoMJ) and I have a parts Cherokee with the MPFI and the 2.5L. Also has an AX5, and a 231 all set up for it, that work good. I would recommend a swap to the MPFI, aftermarket header, cold air intake, and call it a job. Help it get fuel, help it suck in, and help it blow out. Increase the volumetric efficiency of the engine, and help it work. The harness swap is really straight forward, and is plug and play. And if you do get to the point where you are going to "recycle" it, call me. I would love to build a 4 popper with 4x4 as a DD, and I could get it done cheap for myself. No hard feelings, just don't want you to come here and bag our mills. Rob L.
  21. Will and I stop and have a moment of silence for this thing every time we go. :( Rob L.
  22. I would love to have a deuce and a half for a DD... Hey do you loan trucks? Sometimes I need a tow-rig for projects... I have a CDL class B with air brake endorsement, and Fire Vehicle operators license... So can I borrow one sometime? Rob L. :dunno:
  23. Oh yeah... forgot a buddy thats coming over later. Rob
