LKQ DISCOUNT WEEKEND!!! NOV 26-28th 2010!!!

Geez Will... Didn't take you long... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Comanche ... ccessories Rob L. -
Note: Unless you've done it before, there will be no "quick" about going from really old and simple, to really new and confangled. Just saying. Be prepared for it to take awhile. Rob L.

I usually get them with a driver bit on the end of a 1/4" handle driver with a union attached. They are not fun. Oh, and you'll get it... Just have patience... The windshield is a ton easier to pull with the dash out. Rob L.

There is no write up that I know of, but its really simple... Here's how I would do it: 1. Remove the lower knee board. You'll have to take off the parking brake release cable, there are a couple screws going up into is, as well as some in the dividing line between the dash and the knee board. 2. Remove the black trim around the radio/cluster/HVAC controls. 2 screws over the cluster, one over the headlight switch, and one over the cig lighter. Then just pull starting from the top, usually around the cluster. 3. Remove the cluster. You'll see the black screws on the blue tabs when you get the bezel off. You'll have to take the speedo cable off, and the wires. 4. Remove the radio/HVAC controls 5. Remove the trim over the defrost vents. There will be a few black phillips heads holding it on... They are a pain to get to. Very fragile taking this out... take your time. 6. Under the defrost vents you will see some 8MM bolts. Remove them. 7. Look under the column. Remove the bolts that hold the column to the dash, and the support rods. 8. There is one more bolt on each side of the dash, under it against the outside of the truck... Remove those... At this point, it should fall into your lap. All you should have to do at this point is carefully unharness it as you go. I think that's everything, but I probably forgot something. Rob L.

Will 4wd ax15 work in a 2wd 4.0?
Automan2164 replied to MJRemi's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I would just get a 4x4, and not even worry about finding a 2wd. Upgrade, not replace. Rob L. -

Project "Eliminator"

I'll only need a small section for the couch... It has no flares... I still need to cut it down a bit, and I am betting that by the time I am done, the little baby flare end that you cut off will cover whats left of the lip. Rob L. -
Project "Eliminator"

Looks good Wade! Look very utility from the back corner angle now. Hey, you think a guy could have the portion of flares that you cut off for a couch project? Rob L. :brows: -
As much as I was opposed to facebook, I like it now, if only just for CC. An account is free, and they host images... I would recommend it. Rob L.

I would like to use steel, or rims, but my work found it necessary to take away all shop privileges. I would think that a couple stacked rims on each side would be the right height.... Rob L. :fs2:

Well, I would love to put it in the house, but, where I really want it is in the garage! I am trying to think of where I could put it in the garage where it would be out of the way. It will still need to be re-cut on the back, as I was in more of a hurry to just get it done than straight... Cut it about 30" back from the rear of the tail light notch, so I have about 10" to play with. I would like to see if I could find (or if any of you) have some red XJ/MJ front flares that are junk. I would like to put a partial set back on to hide some of the lip rust. Other than that, my only plans are to make a wood frame for the bottom, square up the back, make a back panel, and fabricate a drink holder (of course) for the notch where the stick shift was. I must say its pretty comfortable. I can't wait to have it set up in the garage with the tunes crankin'. Rob L. :D

I didn't think FIAT "owned" control of Jeep, they just have a 20% stake, no? Rob L.

Grab a spot on the couch, beer is in the fridge. Welcome to the madness. Things to look out for: BA 10/5 manual transmission Rust/rot over the rear wheels Rust/rot on the cab corners Rust/rot on the rockers Floorboards are notorious rusters Pluses to keep an eye out for: D44 rear Cargo light Factory brush guard Hidden winch AX15 The front lift of an XJ will work the same on an MJ, but the rear is a whole 'nother baby. The MJ is spring under, and the springs are more inboard than that of the XJ. So unlike an XJ, you can spring over the rear of an MJ like a YJ, and net some cheap lift. Rob L.

Well, the locals around here have known I've wanted to make a couch out of an old MJ bed, and a bench seat, and would always ask if anyone was trashing a bed or bench seat for cheap. The stars really never aligned for me, but I finally got the chance. The yard was having a half off sale, so the local CC guys and myself decided to make a day out of it yesterday. So 89Eliminator, whowey, 88MJXLS, and myself all met up. I snagged an axle for the ZJ, and we stumbled on a poor 'manche. '89 Pioneer, 4.0L, 2wd BA 10/5. Someone who knew what they were looking for already grabbed the domes, badges, tailgate innards... So we picked over what was left. We got the painted flares, rear carpet panel/plastic, tailgate, and the gas door. It was pretty rusty but overall not too bad. My haul: So, getting back to the couch... It bothered me all last night that I didn't pick up the bench, and the bed... So I went back today. I really love those Pioneer graphics on the red truck, so it was perfect. After I took out the bed liner, the truck rocked forward on the stands, and made it easy to get under... So after some cutting, and some wrenching, it was all mine. I didn't feel bad cutting it up, as the bed was already beyond saving... I hate you salt. Out the door with the bench and the bed section for $21.89. He counted the bench as a bucket ($20 reg), and only charged me $10 for the bed section! I love that place! I set the whole works on top of a couple of recycling bins, and mocked it up. Put in some crap tails I had laying around. I still have to bolt everything down, but it looked good, and was at a perfect height for me. I'll have to make a wooden base for it at this height. I had the girlfriend model it, and she took a pic of me trying it out. Now all that is left to do is clear a section of wall out of the garage so I can put it in there! Rob L.

Yup. Its decided. Just went to work to pick up the generator. Bringing the angle grinder and some cut off wheels, that bed is getting the guillotine. If any of you close fellas are free, give me a shout tomorrow. Don't plan on leaving until after 10 or so. Rob L. -
Control arm mounts rusted away
Automan2164 replied to kyleag89's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
$75 is dirt cheap. Around here at least. And the axle isn't that hard to pull. Four control arm bolts, take the calipers off, 4 driveshaft bolts, shocks... I can have one out in 45 minutes. Another thing to think about is that if the one set rusted off, how far away is the other? Rob L. -
Bulb replacement for interior dome light
Automan2164 replied to cicelyak's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You can go ahead and post up a new thread next time so more people see it, but this is an easy one. The door switches are the little buttons on the cab near the hinges. Rob L. -

Darn it! I just realized that the bench was in decent shape, and the back two feet of that bed was good enough for a couch! Crap! And it's half off! The bench would only be $20... :fs2: Anyone feel like going back Sunday? Rob L.
