Although he does sound like a crazy lunatic on the phone, there have been a few times in my life where I would have loved to go off on my manipulative girlfriend (now ex, for obvious reason) like that. However, my rants would likely come with a lot less heavy breathing. Given how angry he was on that phone call, I don't want to imagine the rage he spiraled into when he learned that the phone call was recorded and is now all over the internet...

Looks much, much better. Time to update the sig pic.

Yikes - that sucker got hot! A man of his word. to Mike

This truck has been and will continue to be an inspiration for my '98 MJ build. Thank you for posting up the written description and pictures of your fuel pump setup. That was one of the 'unknowns' on my list of things to figure out. I hope you don't mind me asking you a bunch of questions along the way ;)

Want? If it's free ;)

Electric. My parents got one of these that was modified with an aluminum bed in the back. They use it all over their farm and their ATV's don't get nearly as much use anymore. These things are so handy to have on a farm.

I've found the 'be respectful' thing to not work. Of the seven times I've been pulled over in my driving career, being polite earned me six tickets. The one time I was a total @$$ to the cop, he let me go. Right when he pulled me over, I got a phone call from a buddy that I picked up (this was long before driving with cell phones was illegal). The cop walks over to my car as I'm on the phone and knocks on my window for me to roll it down and as soon as I do, he starts asking for my license and registration. I put my finger up to my nose and "sushed" him and then pointed to my cell phone. He said, 'tell you buddy you'll call him back.' So I got off the phone, gave him my license and registration and he wanted to get me for doing 46 in a 40. Asked me a couple questions about my car and gave me my stuff back and told me to slow it down and let me go. Really strange because he was an NJ beach cop and they are ALWAYS strict. I didn't mean to be a fool to him and I'm usually overly courteous, but I guess being young, dumb, and 18 I thought I was invincible. I think I also had 4 30 packs of beer in my trunk...I was walking a thin line that day. Someone was looking out for me.

Would this be your "smaller vehicle for frequent trips to VA?" ;)
-
Maybe. They were actually adding stickers to the MJ in that video
-
I saw another one of his videos and the same MJ had PA plates and they even had text pop up that said, 'this takes place in PA' Maybe he moved?
-
He lives in PA, maybe near you. Perhaps you two could be best friends?

One of my '88s was a hand-me-down after my brother bought a new truck. The other was given to my parents by my grandfather when he bought a new truck. I've since taken it from my parents to fix it up some.

Cool! Thanks for reminding me about this build. I remember seeing it a few months ago when he had picked up the donor XJ and was tearing the MJ apart. Looks like he kept at it and has made some very steady progress. Wish I had that kind of time as that is about the same project I have in mind. Great looking MJ!

I have the photobucket application and upload my photos to that and then when I get near a computer, I'll post them up. I rarely ever make posts via my iPhone.

This post is entirely too vague. What year MJ do you have? What engine is currently in it? Define cheap (give me a maximum price range). Define easy (how mechanically skilled are you).

Sears installed ball joint!
terrawombat replied to airspeed's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
USA Seriously -- going to any Sears or similar chain for repairs of anything important is a gamble, and the odds are stacked against you. Touche. I wish i had some pictures of my friend's oil drain plug butchery he received from Jiffy Lube. Completely rounded off with stripped threads - an impact wrench was definitely used. They paid for a new oil pan and claim they fired the tech who worked on his vehicle. -

Please list the location of the Sear's that did this butchery so others know not to go there. -
My MJ's are my project Jeeps and are either always under the knife or are being used for farm work duty. I own an '01 XJ Sport that some guy was going to send to the junkyard for scrap value because it had a spun rod bearing. I offered him a little over scrap value and "upgraded" the engine with a pre-0331 cylinder head casting motor from a JY. It has been my reliable DD for the past year. I also picked up a '91 YJ w/4.0L and an AX-15. I'm not quite sure what I'm going to do with it. The only 'mods' it has are 31" tires and a new Bestop Supertop Sunrider. I think I may do a mild lift, finish the bodywork, and put it up for sale. 1998 XJ w/4.0L, AW4, NP231, and 8.25 rear. Picked it up relatively cheap because it didn't run and came with a salvage title - needed a new fuel pump and ECM. Only has 74k miles and the interior is in excellent condition. The body is in great condition with the exception of the fading black fender trim and some dings/dents near the bottom of the drivers door. Current plans are to use it as a donor for my '88 MJ SportTruck, but am having second thoughts. Currently sits in my barn looking sad.

87 Diamond In The Rough But Still A Diamond!!
terrawombat replied to Hubbell's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Where the heck are you finding all of this snow in JULY? I ask this as sweat drips on my keyboard due to the 90+ degree temps and 100% humidity! -
Because it's usually thousands of dollars cheaper. Not everyone can afford a Harley, Mr. Moneybags :rotf:

No weaving for this guy! I'm a bit of a sissy, relatively speaking. I'll generally obey the speed limit and the front wheel never leaves the ground. I get made fun of because my rear tire is worn down in the middle and I still have the little stubble tips sticking up around the outsides. I use it mostly to commute back and forth between my place in NJ and my girlfriends place in MD. Here she is geared up with the saddle bags on backwards: I love the bike, but I think my next bike is going to be a Ural: My new dog wants to ride, too!

To respond to the title of this thread: 'Yea, we know.'

Nice looking bike. I like the flat black on the rims and parts of the frame. My girlfriend's mother (not taking anything away from you!) rides an '04 or '05 Shadow. She let me ride it last weekend and that thing was a lot bigger than I expected! The twin engine thumped and felt really cool. I'd like to own a twin engine bike one day. I'm young so I ride crotch rockets. I've got an '08 Kawasaki Z1000...it also does 80 MPH...in 2nd gear ;)
