  2. I have this same problem on my 87. Thanks Larry for sending me that manual!
  3. Can't wait to see the hood and the doors!
  4. What I saw when we took the bed off... the frame isnt that bad. wire brush and some love and the rust will come off..... but this part is pretty bad. We got the shocks off and all cleaned up without breaking the bolt off! I personally thought I was going to snap right off. Man now that the image is on here it looks worse then it actually was. slowly turning and spraying PB blaster Chewed up brake lines. I'm surprised the brakes actually worked when we got the truck. Half the brake lines are overly rusted, broken off and some are just hanging there not even attached to anything. All I could say when I saw this was WOW Taking off the leaf springs was a pain in the A. We managed to save one.. the other was to far rusted. But we managed to get the dang thing off. next is opening it up and looking inside. Oh and trying to find out how to take the drums off. I have no idea what to expect when I open it up, I just hope the gears are solid. I have no idea how to take the drums off. But I have had no idea what I have been doing this whole time. LOL this is all so amazing, new and just awesome to me. I love learning new things!
  5. Dana 35?
  6. While removing the paint off the bed. I started to tend to the gas tank. It has a whole patch of rust on the top but i think i can just sand it off without any holes. I have never seen the inside of a gas tank before. Seems there is just a little rust in it but nothing I am worried about. Where the sending unit was exposed to the elements was pretty bad with rust, but everything else seems to be in good shape. Now I just have to figure out how to get it back in.
  7. Smashed in bed corner, shouldn't be to hard to fix, Nasty wheel wells and chunks of rust!!Started removing the paint. We were just going to sand it down and re-paint it but then we found the more we sanded the more rust we found.. so we decided to take all the paint off and remove all the rust. No as easy as we thought it was going to be, but we found some really cool paint remover to speed up the process.
  8. I am going to add adjustable arms and drop brackets eventually...but just not right away. I have to re-do all the brake lines.. I'm actually surprised the brakes worked when I got the truck because the lines are so badly rusted, ate away, broken off and not even attached. :dunno: but you are right.. with all of that being done it is going to cost more then $500.
  9. Thanks Pete, I didnt see this before. Alexia put a lot of work into this and I took off some great info! Eagle, You and I are on the same page with this. I had to read the paragraph twice to understand they were trying to say BOLT-ON and not Bolton.. LOL I was thinking Bolton was a brand they were using... but NOPE they just can't spell.
  10. It's only $500 and probably a lot more for shipping but I've been looking around a lot and I keep going back to this
  11. I've been thinking about doing this http://www.rocky-road.com/jeep-comanche-lift-kit.html What do you think? I wasn't going to do the whole SOA but I don't know now. This makes it sound so easy.

  17. C Channels... Mine are complete rust. You said they provide structural support. What would happen if one repaired the rusted floors and didn't put the C channels back in?
  18. I just pulled my gas tank off and had to cut the J bolts off because of rust. My straps are just as bad... What site did you orders yours off of? And what did you coat the tank with?

  22. Got the bed off!!!! It had 8 bolts holding it down. All but one came off with a breaker bar. The other one wouldn't budge so I cut it out with my deremel. But after three days, I'm pretty excited its off!!!!
