  2. If I can find all my tires, then I estimate this will cost a little under a grand. More maybe. Not sure if it's worth it though just to fix spare parts. I've got about eight different axles, a couple of transmissions and transfer cases that were under water, they might get scrapped, the rest of the CJ3A parts aside from the frame and tub might get scrapped too...I'll have to wait till it dries out and I see what's salvageable/cleanable, then I'll decide.. Not a massive disaster here locally, just had all my stuff in a fairly low area, I knew it would rain but I didn't expect a near biblical event.
  3. The weatherman said 6.5", judging by our rain gauge it was over 8".
  4. After little to no rain all year and the hottest summer on record, the rain finally came down last night. I've got a dismantled CJ3A with parts washed downstream, a set of 33" super swampers and a set of 35" Creepy Crawlies are somewhere down river also, a couple of them didn't go far fortunately. This has only happened twice in the last 10 years that I can remember. The water has receded about a 18" already, should be gone in a day or two. I've been tearing it up lately but this is a disheartening setback. Only good to come out of this is the farmers finally got the rain, but its probably too much, oh and the Rangers won last night!
  5. Check out the Hesco website or give them a call. Plenty of guys here with strokers that will probably chime in. Lots of info spread on the net,,,,here's a couple of links: http://www.angelfire.com/my/fan/selection.html http://www.ajeepthing.com/stroker-motor.html http://www.jeepstrokers.com/forum/
  6. Am I the only one that thinks this is awesome? http://www.youtube.com/user/magnatraC20 ... 6jmzr5HPwE
  7. Yeah, grab a woodgrain bezel off a XJ country, got that in both MJs right now. Tape off the taillights and blackout the tailight trim,,,,Mother's wax goes a long way, don't need a buffer wheel, just an old towel. Black out the front grille trim if that's your tastes (Hornbrod will curse me). 97' and up fenders, hood and flares are easy to do without doing the whole interior swap. In the interior, swap your seat covers for something cleaner from an XJ if you can find a decent set in the yard, that way you don't have to mess with the seat brackets. Or, you could just throw yours in the washer. While you've got those off, you can swap the foam from the passenger side to the driver side if your drivers side is worn out....or go to a Michael's store and get some more cheap foam and "fluff" it up some. Remove your carpet, take it to a car wash or get a pressure washer and clean the bejesus out of it.

  9. Good price, they're at least half that in scrap.
  10. I'll give ya 2K for it, no title required,,,, :D
  11. Just pulled this D35C (first time ever!) from a YJ. Actually it was just sitting there but upon closer inspection it had 4.56 gears and a full locker so it came home to be resold. Anyone know what kind of locker this is?
  12. Owner is asking too much though...its even beyond my level of squandering and shuffling which I normally squeeze but its slightly out of reach to get the money he wants.....nice ride though. Its a 59' FC150. He let me test drive it which was really fun. Its slow getting up to speed (normal), its an F head 134 that runs like a top, T90/D18, good brakes, just kinda cramped. Few dents, no bondo, straight bed, minimal rust, fully and regularly serviced. He also had a sweet freakin Gremlin with a full leather interior, a 66' Galaxy convertible, a 69' Pontiac Lemans Convertible, a 48 Ford Truck with a flat head six that runs like a Cadi,,, and a couple others,,,,,,I only cared about the FC150. Who knows, got his number and spent a couple hours building rapport, the owner is a great guy, a former AMC salesman, perhaps a future buy. Like I said before, I have a super power for spotting Jeeps, it actually scares people I know, I can't help it. :D
  13. Think I'd keep the full size. Saw a blazer lose a tire, hub and axle shaft going down the highway.....I'll never plant my butt in one of those.
  14. Not sure if all this talk about a Renix not using fuel while coasting is entirely accurate. When I lived in CO, I had an 8 mile downhill on the way to work at 4:00 in the morning. I coasted with the engine off almost every morning. There was no other traffic on the road, otherwise I would crank the engine on for safety reasons.....also, I never coasted with the engine off if there was ice or snow....only in dry pavement conditions. Yes, the computer will reduce fuel delivery while coasting, but it still provides fuel to allow the engine to idle or else the engine will die, engines don't run if there's no freakin fuel. If your engine is on, it is burning fuel! As far as power brake effectiveness when the engine is off --- your brakes will still work, you just have to apply more pressure, boosters would never have been approved for use on a public highway if they completely depending on engine vacuum. When you coast, just don't be a jerk about it.....adjust your braking and driving style, coast slower, a steep hill will allow you to naturally gain a lot of speed, you don't have to use it all, just keep going fast enough to make it down the hill. Go ONLY slow enough to make it down the hill and no more! Brake as necessary. If you coast down a hill without power until you reach 70-80 mph then wonder why you can't stop quickly then there needs to be a mental examination. Sure coast as much as you can, don't do it in traffic, don't do it in wet/slippery conditions, increase your stopping distance by a very wide margin, ensure there's an open road, if there's any doubt, start your engine, drive normally and don't risk safety. Don't do it with other cars around you. Yes, you can coast and save fuel with the engine off. That is a fact,,,just don't be a retard when you do it. Coasting for short distances won't help, it uses a lot of fuel just to start it up. I'm talking about a several mile down hill distance. If you've got a very long downhill, like coming off the freaking great divide like I was every morning, then you will save gas - FACT! I was getting well over 25 MPGs going to work in the wee hours of the morning with a lifted MJ on 33s, coming home going over 3,000 feet uphill was a different matter.
  15. Don't know what your 76' is like, but I've had a couple of those late 60 early 70 Chevy trucks. My second vehicle was a 70 GMC or Chevy, can't remember, it was painted completely with bondo and had an unknown 7 cylinder V8. That's because it didn't matter what I did to it, it would never fire on all 8. I'll take the Jeeps any day!
  16. No way, you'll drink it before I get there, strange thing is I wouldn't be mad about it at all --I'm sure I couldn't resist either. Unless you know how to mail beer, if that's the case I'll just sign you over as executive handler of my accounts right now so I can focus on the drinking. I don't want to be trifled with such mundane financial details, just send me the dang beer!
  17. You can find plenty of upkeep info in the stickies in the Tech and DIY sections. Read those, read the manual linked below and know it. The renix is easy to diagnose with a DMM 90 % of the time, any problem you can't figure out, the good folks here usually can narrow it down for you quickly. I've got two high mileage Renix 4.0Ls (180K + 210K) and wouldn't hesitate to drive either one to Alaska and back. 18. Continually tap (shock is the idea) with 4lb sledge, reheat (hotter than august in El Paso), tap more, repeat, use a long breaker bar, not a rattle wrench, apply continous tension, heat and tap, more slow tension, heat and tap. If that doesn't get it off then just cut it off with an angle grinder.
  19. No thanks, I'm from texas originally so I don't want to go back. :D HAHAHA!! Dude, I got bad news, as of tuesday New Belgium will no longer serve free beer at the bar. RIP free beer at the brewery. So much for getting drunk for free. Sorry man, I should have never wished damnation upon you. I didn't think it would get this bad.
  20. No thanks, I'm from texas originally so I don't want to go back. :D HAHAHA!!
  21. Ooh, Ooh, a cargo light,,,,,send it to me please sir.
  22. Damn you to Hades!
  23. I get my hands around one of these babies: http://www.newbelgium.com/beer/detail.a ... 42d914ab81 Clutch, one of my favorite top three bands of all time, has teamed with my favorite brewery of all time. Sorry Guinness, love the Foreign Extra Stout but...., this collaboration of the best hard blues band of all time and the best beer of all time will most likely ensure I die with a smile on my face for the when this sweet nectar touches my lips I shall surely drop dead stiffer than the columns of the Parthenon, with a stuck smile wider than Lake Pontchartrain, and eyes forever open seeing only the taste of the only pure bliss available on this miserable planet. Yes gentlemen, that will be the day, when I get my hands around one of those bottles, that I die a happy death.
  24. Dang it, stop giving me ideas for more old things to buy and fiddle with.
