  1. What we should all aspire to...
  2. Haven't done a lot of "sand" blasting, but I've done plenty of blasting using iron grit according to NACE standards. The "frame/unibody" will require a different medium than the body, or more accurately the exterior of the body. Iron grit is best. Most commonly required by specs for bridges, underground pipes, and other infrastructure. Its reusable although it gets smashed into dust eventually. On any part that requires a smooth surface for finishing, like a body panel, the best medium is the smallest. Almost dust sized particles are required for a smooth blast, and as long as you've got a decent gun and at least 90 psi, actual iron dust would be perfect for body panels or any other parts requiring a smooth finish. On the frame and underside, it doesn't matter as much, in fact the profile created by larger grit will actually help paint adhesion. Don't bother with etching compound etc, its hogwash. Most paints bond physically, not chemically to metal. So you want a micro jagged profle, the sharper the profile on the metal, the better the paint will adhere. So yes you'll be better off blasting the heck out of the frame with a G25 or so sized grit. Also, what are you blasting with? Dry is best if you're wet blasting it just defeats the purpose of corrosion protection and you might as well not prep it and slap POR15 on it and be done. I just don't get wet blasting.
  3. Sorry, I read "door" not floor.
  4. What though is the problem? I'm assuming the hinges have broken off at the factory weld? if so, welding may not be necessary. There's a way to fix it by bolting plates behind the pillar sheet metal which acts as a brace and bolting the hinge back on. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=21621&hilit=door+hinge+repair viewtopic.php?f=7&t=17699&hilit=Megan+Joy
  5. Winched a tractor out of a little hole....
  6. Happened to me once, ignoring the laws of physics, I tried to fit my 200 lb round body through the square hole of my back glass opening. Fortunately, this was in front of a Bass Pro shop and only 150 or more people saw me dangling stuck. A family walked by as I unstuck myself and their 10 year old said, "Hey cool truck!" So I asked permission to slide the kid through the window which was granted, but the doors were fast frozen and he wasn't strong enough to open it. So he was trapped and as he seemed to start panicking and as his parents irritation grew to being outright irate. I gave one last heave and finally yanked the door open before the law was called. Carried a propane torch in the bed after that. :dunce:
  7. Yeah, good series, glad we didn't see more of Valverde and Verlander.
  8. Crap.
  9. They're in but my boxes are too small. I'm thinking about building one like yours. I like that. It'll be a while before I build something though, on top of the other Jeeps I'm working on, I discovered yesterday that my front axle is bent, not bad but enough to visibly tilt the tires in. I thought I needed offset ball joints, not the case. It's getting a truss when I get it straightened, going to truss the rear too.
  10. That severely got me to a point of indescribable aggravation. I pray I don't hurt someone connected with this event.
  11. For as much love as I have for America's automotive heartland (Toledo, OH being especially close to my Jeep bleeding heart), we Texan Ranger fans will forever protest and continue to resist your Tiger team's quest for ALCS victory. I am at once saddened for my automotive hometown's heart but at the same time overwhelming strengthened by yet another crushing home run by one Texan Ranger named Nelson Cruz. I do not wish heartache upon you Detroit scoundrels, but the inevitable is upon you, and whether it be the St. Louis Redturds or those no good Beer brewing drunks from some little known Milwaukee hamlet, it matters not who appears on our palate next, it all will only be a matter of time before all of you fools must desist and acknowledge the greatness that is the 2011 Texas Rangers. Looks like this year is ours. I will accept applications for Texas citizenship on a case by case basis. Go ahead and send me a PM if you want to leave your state and join the winning team. As Lyle Lovett says, "that's right, you're not from Texas, but Texas wants you". However, please keep in mind that the competition is fierce and not all will be accepted. Nothing personal you dirty yankees. We welcome you down here to paradise. Oh look! Another one out of the park!
  12. This is an awesome project, I want you to win!
  13. Found all the tires. Doesn't looked like I lost too many parts, I just have to scrap through an inch or two of mud to find some smaller parts. This was my fault, I shouldn't have had my stuff in a lower area. It did force me to buy a parts washer. I'll be cleaning for a while.
  14. Looks like it needs springs in the front.
  15. Awesome! That thing is straight outta Maximum Overdrive. Love the tailgate. I want it in a bad way.
  16. At 6'2" I'm fairly cramped inside my MJ. I understand the exo. I like it a lot!
  17. Nice work! I used to live in WA, I chased Roosevelt Elk with a crappy compound bow around the Capital Forest like a crazed fool, only thing I did was educate them on how to avoid dumb hunters. Miss that place (but not the rain).
  18. Thanks man, I have to say, you have one sweet rig. Thanks brother, its just one big ole expensive contraption. I'm scared of wiring and would probably never test the waters you've plunged well deep into. Sounds like you've got it under wraps though. I'll be following cause I want to see you pull it off and have a kick A MJ.
  19. Post in the tech section for better visibility, it's the busiest. Also, is your truck lifted or stock? Sounds like you're having a bit of death wobble.
  20. Good save and great start!
  21. I'm going to find a new girlfriend for you...problem is most of the women in the surrounding 36 counties hate me, and I'm working on the remainder in Dallas and Houston, I've got Austin and San Antonio covered already, they won't talk to me anymore so they're out of the running. Bare with me Jim, I'll work on it.
  22. Sir, I feel I must mention,,,,,You can get a used 1st, 2nd, or even 3rd gen Viper for 47K or under. Plus the seats are lower, and she'll get from point A to point B much faster.
