  1. Thanks! I honestly don't know how we closed on time, but we did. Luckily 85% of our stuff is already packed and sitting in a storage unit. We made the 100 mile move out of KC a month ago and put everything in storage while fussing with paperwork. One nice thing about living in rural KS is that everybody has a truck and trailer and are willing to help haul your stuff. I suspect we will have a garage full within the next 4 hours....
  2. Home Sweet Home. It's time to crank Motley Crue! :rotf: Image Not Found
  3. Closing is set for tomorrow afternoon.... Septic system was to be replaced on Monday and knowing it wasn't completed yesterday, this evening I drove by and found this: Image Not Found Image Not Found Called the realtor and asked why the septic system wasn't done. It boils down to a contractor who can't keep a time line. Even though the septic system is still under construction and still needs to be inspected once completed, he said we should close on time... Ugh, time will tell. I am getting anxious! On a lighter note, I am looking forward to seeing this type of view everyday as I drive to or from town: Image Not Found Image Not Found
  4. Due to my 'youthful-ness' I cannot comment on tool longevity. Although, growing up I grew accustomed to using my fathers snap-on tools. They simply felt/feel right, balanced and comfortable. When I moved out and started assembling a tool set of my own I had to find tools that were much cheaper than snap-on. I have found, quite surprisingly, that the Husky brand at Home Depot has the most similar feel to the snap-on I am used to. Shocking? You bet. Will they last as long as the snap-on? Probably not. A basic Husky tool kit is what tore down 85% of my MJ. I have also been adding pieces of the Craftsman Professional series to my tool chest. In all, I think the most important aspect of a tool is how it feels in your hand. Even the texture of the finish is extremely important to me. Slippery and rough tools suck!
  5. Keep in mind that most MJs rot from the inside out. This results in what appears to be minor rust bubbling above the rear flare. Once you start peeling the rust and paint away from the exterior surface, you will more than likely find more holes than you expected. If your bed has not yet rotted from the inside out, make sure to clean and seal the 'shelf' created by the inner fender, particularly where it meets the bedside. This is ground zero for road debris to accumulate over the years.
  6. :rotf: Glad to see the shirt is getting used! Yeah!
  7. A couple of washers behind the steering stops will prevent the LCA rubbing.
  8. Our septic inspection failed, of course. The current owners bought the house with an unfinished basement and spent 4 years finishing it. That added another bathroom, a bar and a bedroom, thus requiring more lateral to be installed. They called US and asked if they could go ahead with the fix, which is was quoted pretty expensive. The plan looks good and still leaves plenty of room for a future shop. Naturally things were going too smooth.... last week our file with the lender was selected by an uncle sam agency for an audit which could delay our closing date for next week :fs2: Lets hope not!
  9. Poison oak is a woody plant and will require a tree and shrub killer. The stuff for herbaceous plants won't do a thing. I am not sure what to suggest in your area. See if you can get in contact with a local forester. Just remember that once killed, the fun doesn't stop as the oil will remain on the leaves, stems and roots.
  10. I just couldn't stand the faded 'Medium Blue', as AMC called it, interior. What could I do to change it? I scoured CL and various forums to try and get gray interior for dirt cheap, but anything good was too far away and too much $$$$. Plus, who would want to give away rare MJ interior pieces? So I improvised for less than $20 and decided to try the Duplicolor vinyl and fabric dye. I still have a few small pieces to finish up as well as the dash. I also degreased the transmission and transfercase in preparation for installation. Need to order some motor mounts and a transmission mount.
  11. I second the above postings. Just type in "your county, state GIS" into Google and you should be able to quickly find out who owns the property, how much it is worth and what they pay in taxes.
  12. Sears Diehard Platinum! Not any other Sears battery. - Rebadged Odyssey battery - Top and side posts rated for full amps (great winch battery) - I left my lights on one day for about 6 hours, Jeep did not hesitate to start - Battery turns the 4.0 over in -20 temps the same as in 110 temps - Minimal voltage drop when doing long winch pulls at idle - Will let me listen to the Jeep radio all day while wrenching without any issues starting the rig I am on the 5th year with my Platinum and continue to have no problems. Last weekend I parked the Jeep, turned it off and helped fell a massive hackberry tree with the winch. The Platinum continues to impress me everyday.
  13. Glad to see proline shipping the MJ bodies again!
  14. Such a long ways away, especially after a week in Colorado! Darn the luck.
  15. Make sure Pete is OK with it. He has the rights to the club ;) If you need to vector file for the logo, let me know.
  16. Ahhh, Hutch. Good Sunday buffet at the airport restaurant  The truck looks Sharp! Instead of redoing the 'Comanche' sticker, why not get one of the 'ComancheClub' stickers from Pete?
  17. Got our appraisal back today. The house was appraised at the exact price we agreed on. What are the chances of that happening? Now we have to wait for underwritting to approve the appraisal, which they should since it was very positive. I suspect things will start happening pretty fast once again.
  18. :agree: Congrats. Looks like an awesome set up, even with the white stuff.
  19. Geeze, this is not a good time for appraisals. This afternoon our lender called and said the appraisal company had ours temporarily on hold. According to them, it is a 'complex appraisal' and will cost us $85 extra. Not sure what is complex about a rural 2006 construction home on 4 acres. Our lender said this happens from time to time. No big deal, will do it. Let us know how the appraisal negotiations work out.
  20. I like, I like. Nice to see the true nature of the MJ getting the live it deserves as well as mentioning the true meaning of what Jeep is. Maybe the dream will come to fruition.....
  21. I decided to forgo mounting the 97+ doors on this truck. I did not feel like trying to remove the door hinge bolts and fight with the inevitable rusted bolts.... ....so, I notched the fenders for the rockers, mounted the fenders and installed the 97+ mirrors on the 86 doors I can't wait to pull the cap!!!! Never been a fan of caps. Don't fear I will put it in storage, not scrap it. I could see the cap being very useful someday. While its an oxymoron, I had to touch up my cut marks, would hate for the fenders to rust....... :hmm: The goal for this truck is to make a comfortable, safe, daily driver out of a truck that should have been scrapped while doing the minimum. I will not skimp on safety, but I will let the bed continue to rot. You get the picture

    Am I P*ssed

Geeze, whatever it was did not let up!
  24. I finally made it to the body shop today. Picture of the truck Floor pans are welded in with frame plate and braces 97+ firewall modifications and brackets New 3/16" battery mount in the works Rockers and cab corners going in Crap..... While talking about my truck, and the two other MJs in the shop, my body shop guy continued to express the poor fit of the C2C floor pans and rockers. The MJ rockers are tapered and has a totally different rear floor shape. He indicated the only positive of the C2C parts was the metal quality. We also discussed water proofing the cab at length. When it is done, there should be no water problems.
