I have two trips planned to Colorado this summer. One week in Woodland Park and another week in South Fork. I hope to visit The Most Interesting Man In The World when out there. Oh yeah, Jim, are you busy in the middle of June or first of August? :rotf:

Raptor Liner Or Monsterliner Exterior Of Truck
87Warrior replied to 92tanMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The UPol Raptor liner is supposed to be UV stable as well ;) 'Tazer15' (a member here on CC) applied the monstaliner to the interior tub of his LJ. I know it was prepped correctly and applied correctly, but it has a much rougher texture than my UPol Raptor in the bed of my MJ. -
:rotfl2:  What an offer!

I have been browsing CL for a couple of months now. It's usually the same ol' stuff. Just wanted to put my feelers out elsewhere. Tan would be a hard selling point for my wife. Haha

I am on the hunt for a mostly (if not completely) stock 1997-1999 XJ for my wife. 4.0/AW4/231 or 242. Ultimately I would like to find something with less than 150K miles and a decent interior. Smoke Free is the only absolute requirement. I am in Junction City, Kansas, smack dab in the middle of the state, and am willing to drive/meet/fly to pick up the perfect XJ. If you have an XJ for sale or know of a good one for sale, please post up

My box rocker is 49". If you wanted to take the rocker to the front wheel well add 6". -

The only nice thing about the 2x6 is you get a little foot rest out there for when youre rinding doorless  Now I just gotta find me some free 2x4 metal tubing, do you think you could get me a rough lenght by chance? Like a little bit larger? I keep my legs inside my TJ when doorless. I have no desire to get hit with road gavel at 60 mph!!! :rotf: I will take a tape measure to it this evening. Thanks!!!! I love driving it around. Even the little 2.5 puts a smile on my face. ....and since I believe bumping with out an updated picture is bad karma, here is my newest mod: Supporting my alma mater and the local economy! -
1986 MJ 2.5L 4x4 | "Heavy Four"

I am very glad I opted for the 2x4 rocker instead of the 2x6. It seems to work and flow very well with the body. Another nice thing about the 2x4 is that there will be less leverage on the rocker when you land on it compared to a 2x6 ;) -
Raptor Liner Or Monsterliner Exterior Of Truck
87Warrior replied to 92tanMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have used the Raptor in the bed of my truck. It is an awesome product. I have some details in my '92 build. I think it would make for a very lousy paint job. You might be able to make it look decent if you have a good compressor that can continually supply the air needed to run the gun wide open at 70+PSI. This would greatly help make a smoother, consistent, texture. But in the end, you will still have a truck covered in bed liner (I am not a fan of bed liner being used to replace paint). The truck will always be dull and will attract every speck of dirt within a 3 state area. Why not save a bit more coin and buy a quality HVLP paint gun and spray real paint on your truck? I used 2x4 box tube for the rockers on my '86. Details can be found in my build thread. -
I hear you Jim. Here in central KS we got that same storm. Dumped about 7" over night with a 30 mph wind. Although we are lucky and hit about 40 degrees this afternoon so much of it melted. Can't complain about the wet snow though. Our pastures and crop fields are in dire need of moisture. I will continue to do the snow/rain/ice dance. Luckily I was able to get my chores done just as it started coming down:

E-mail sent. I have not yet tried to fit the headliner in my truck since it will be awhile before it gets back from the body shop. I am very glad to see a vendor admitting a mistake and offering two very good methods of correcting it. I will have no problem waiting for the fitment to be corrected and new headliner shipped out. Thank you for being a stand up guy/business man Steve!

You can use a drill bit, but then you may have several holes to fill on the lower frame rail lip (what the braces are spot welded to) http://www.harborfreight.com/3-8-eighth-inch-double-sided-rotary-spot-weld-cutter-95343.html $5 isn't too much. A good drill bit that will last through all of the spot welds will cost much more.

I used the Harbor Freight spot weld cutters. I think I used 4 of them for those pesky frame braces. Cost was still less than the above posted Blair products. The spot welds are a PAIN in the rear to find. There is no rhyme or reason for their placement so you must find them and curse when the brace doesn't pull up when you think it should.

Looking good! I absolutely love the stance as it is. Some lower profile tires would be the icing on the cake.

There is only one Jim. A fellow like me can only dream of living up to his reputation!

I like your truck, Burritos. I also like Burritos! I am not sure why, but I always like MJs photographed in the desert :)

:agree:  Hopefully not tears of sorrow :???: I have 3 MJs and my TJ surrounding my garage right now. Earlier this week a fellow pulled into my my driveway right as I got home from work. He was from the next county over, just passing through the country side and asked if I liked these Jeeps. I assured him I did and he passed along a phone number for his buddy in town that has a rusty, green, MJ with a good motor and a bad transmission sitting around that he would entertain getting rid of. I have no clue about the specifications, but I have seen the truck behind a fence before. It is forest service green with a white topper. I need to call the fellow tomorrow.

I had to open up a garage bay for my wife's Camry since we are forecasted to get 7" of snow this weekend. Cleaned up frame rail and motor mount frame horns: Chained up. Ready, Aim, Fire! ....and the six fits!
-
Very cool indeed. I will be keeping a close eye on this build. You seem to do thorough work.

Another one bites the dust: She put up a fight letting go of the drivetrain. It all started with the transmission cross member that was welded to the frame. Then when attempting to remove the frame horns one wouldn't budge. It too was welded to the frame. Waiting for the 2.5 drivetrain to join: (no,no,no.... they will be going to storage, not scrap) My next step is to repair the 4.0 wiring harness. A number of wires have either been chewed through or simply worn through over the years. I have already removed surface rust from the frame rails and painted the area in preparation for the 4.0 frame horns. MORE motor mounts will be bolted to the 4.0 frame horns. I also need to drill out a few broken bolts still stuck in the frame for the cross member as well as clean and tap the frame nuts. While I won't be using the stock AW4 cross member with this build, I want it to mount up without an issue so I can get accurate measurements. I will also be fitting a 97+ brake booster and pedal assembly in the truck. The late model boosters are more powerful and will work better with the 99 Dodge 2500 master cylinder that will be pushing fluid to the massive Ford brakes. A simple proportioning valve will control fluid to the rear axle.

What Kind Of Cb Radio Antenna Do You Guys Prefer?
87Warrior replied to Josh_Fish95's topic in The Pub
X2 IMHO most of the radios on the market are essentially the same. Some just have fancy bells, whistles, and names on them. I use Uniden since they are cheap, durable and fairly compact. -
Wave as you pass Junction City, Kansas on I70! EJS is one of those things on my bucket list.

I picked up my MJ D44 for $300 with matching driveshaft. I sold a complete 99 XJ 8.25 for $100. I was asking $150 and would have taken $75

Roadtrip Preparation
87Warrior replied to NewKindOfClown's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Don't forget to pack a quart of oil and a clean air filter. Never know how much blow by might end up in the air box on a long haul.
