  1. :waving: My idea is for your brother to start off with a 4.5'' lift, some 33'' tires, and at least one Aussie like I did :clapping: Then move up to 37'' tires and two Aussies - one for the front and one for the back seat -they jump around a lot :brows: hey, what's the paint job on that 8?
  2. i'd buy one at the right price. all law enforcement vehicles differ to some extant for their intended use. most come with extra skid plates. some are ordered with re-enforced front bumper or bumper mounts with push bars. most have better cooling and upgraded silicone hoses. they come with high amp alternators and usually better brake pads/shoes. the suspension is usually beefed a little to handle higher speeds. they are normally very stripped with a/c and cruise as the main options. most of the time they come with vinyl floor and seats. those with k9 packages add a few things to them. usually tinted windows and the rear seat removed or folded down (for most of it's life). the only problem that causes is that the hinges get weak and the backing of the seat weakens. as far as care, most are very, very well cared for. mechanically they are usually a pretty good buy. some do have wear issues on the interior but the exterior is usually kept up. i would go for it if it's a decent price. it should be priced much lower that a civilian model. :D
  3. nice 8 man! very nicely done.
  4. dude, never piss into the wind! it just get's your leg all wet.
  5. dude, i gotta say that seeing these pic's have made me hot for your gf!! :rotfl2: a woman cutting sheet metal and holding busted diffs, that's just hot! :D my wife used to help me alot. she knows how to do more stuff than most guys i know. she still helps me quite a bit, but not as much now with the 4 kids. she's a great wife. she hunts, trains dogs, cleans game, helps on vehicles, run the trap thrower for me, even plants birds when dog training. she's not afraid to get dirty and loves the smell of gas. :brows: it's great having a partner by your side when you're doing the things you enjoy. much better than getting chewed out for spending too much time doing this or that! ;) keep up the great work on the mj and keep the pic's coming. i love seeing a project progress.
  6. do you mean the spray stuff you used is a bedliner material? it looks like it could be rocker guard spray as well. just wondering which it is. :D
  7. i like what you're doing, it looks great! on the carpet, you should try the carpet dye they sell at autoparts stores. you could probably go black. it's worth a try instead of replacing the carpet. better yet, you can tell us how it works for you. i'm sure others have thought about using it. the headliner is an easy job, i've done a ton of them on different rigs. do yourself a favor and put some automotive carpet pad or thick foam under the headliner mold. it's much quieter and better for heating and cooling. it only costs a few bucks and makes a huge difference. just an fyi. ;)
  8. now is that exterior done in bed liner? what kind and how'd you spray it? i have an 87 and the previous owner bedlined the whole truck. he rolled it on and did a horrible job. :fs1: it's too thick in some spots and so thin in others you can see the white paint. i plan on spraying it with bedliner this spring to take some of the texture away. it's so ruff in some spots that you don't want to rub up against it with your skin. yes, it's that bad. :wall: i don't mind the bedliner as a finish on the whole truck, i think it's cool not to have to worry about scratching it. my wife is trying to talk me into spraying on the bedliner, then painting over it with the original white color. before anyone asks, yes, you can paint over the bedliner. it does stick very well but the liner needs to be prep'd first. me, i like the black. we'll see who wins. ;)
  9. don't let him get rid of it! he will regret it later. he could sell the vin (the vehicle with valid vin) on ebay. i would rebuild it back to stock specs if it's not a wheeler. he can get 31's under it no problem if he doesn't need all the flex, helk 33's will ft if you're not going to wheel it. in know others like them built up, but i'm a fan of them restored to original with 31's on them. doing a stock rebuild is not that big of deal since you can get anything you need for them. i'd check the frame, it may be in good shape. then just sandblast it and por 15 it. if not, pick up a used one on ebay. the tub and fenders can be replaced pretty easily. he may have enough of the body left to make it worth while to use it as a base. there are cheap ways he can put new metal in. if the floors are bad, they're pretty cheap. in short, keep it or give it to me and i'll restore it!
  10. second on white lithium. it's cheap and easy to use, and last a long time.
  11. :agree: the only ford motors i've blown up were m's (3). i've never blown up a w. but, that's just me. :D i'd go to advance adapters as well. they've got something to make anything fit anywhere and their quality is top notch.
  12. no, this is crazy: http://jomzo.com/media/189/Scary_hiking_trail/ (NWS for images on the linked page) that's crazy!    couldn't get me to walk that trail.
  13. what a deal! i love the cj8's. tell your brother he could make some cash selling it. helk i'll give him $200! so do we have a deal? :clapping:

    can't decide

jeeps should stay jeeps. i put a built 383 in a cj once and felt guilty as hell about it. sold that jeep and did a nice build on a 304 in the next one. the built 401 after that was all kind of fun. unfortunately, i broke stuff.................alot of stuff.
  15.    that guy is more than an idiot. :fs1: i don't think moron covers it either. i think we have a new kind of stupid here. what shall we call it? :dunno: how about "crane climbing stupid"? as in: "i knew this guy that tried to run his mj on pee. he was crane climbing stupid." any other ideas for this new level of stupidity? :huh???:
  16. the screws are bedlined over so i don't even know if they are bolts or screws or what and how many there are. can i just cut the tops off since the handle has to be replaced? it broke on one side. am i ok to just get a used one(if i can find one) or are they a part that wears enough you want to put new in? if so, where can you get them? :dunno: any help would be great. i need to get my tailgate back on. :help:
  17. for the cleaning job under the cover, i have used diesel fuel and a parts brush. then drain the oil and put a fresh filter and new oil in. if you want something that will work while you drive, i like seafoam straight in the crankcase. i think seafoam is the best thing since sliced bread. :clapping: if you want to go cheap and really get it clean fast, pour 1 quart of diesel fuel in the crankcase and run it for a bit. drain it out and put fresh oil and filter in. you can do that a few times to get it clean. you can go the other route and get a can of 5 minute motor flush. that's works ok to keep a clean engine clean. it's basically watered down diesel fuel. if i get a new rig, i run a quart of the diesel fuel through it (let it run 10 minutes or so) when the motors hot. change the oil and add a bottle of seafoam. drive it like normal and change the oil at 2000 miles. i run a can in the crankcase every 3rd oil change. i change oil every 3 months or 2000 miles and that get's it run through about twice a year or so. i also run a can in the gas every 3 months. i pour a can through the throttle body(or carb) once a year as well to keep all the carbon out of the top end. try it it works. it also stabalizes the gas if you let the rig sit awhile.
  18. wow. it does really affect the gas mileage. :(
  19.    wow!!! that is one beautiful truck!! as far as i'm concerned, it's much nicer than it was when new in 87.
  20. hmmmmmmmmmmmmm......sounds to me like you're saying you now have a way to buy alot of jeep stuff!

    True use of tools

actually i did. i will post some pic's later. i didn't even think of that. this weekend or later this week i hope to take some pi'cs of my mj to introduce it. i will figure out how to post pic's and get them all posted. first i need to figure out how it all works. i figure i'll do a search and find what i need. :typing:
  22. i say we wait until 5pm. if we don't here from him by then, we better start looking. call all the hospital, bars, and maybe a phone call to the police to report a suspected murder. at a minimum we should check the bars. :rotf:
  23. as i say, "won't be seeing her naked for a while". ;) ;) ;) ;)
  24. i haven't driven the mj much since i got it last april. i use it for the 5 minute romp to the dog club sometimes and haul some stuff with it. i did take it on a 10 road trip in june, and used it to deliver some truck parts. so last night on the way to the club board meeting, i decided to hit the "power/comfort" switch as some people on ere suggested. it's a totally different truck. it actual has some power and is just nicer to drive. there's no way i'm going back. i should have done it right away! :dunce: so now i like my little mj all that much more, and it was a keeper before. :clapping:
  25. i'm a cj guy to, as many of us are. i think we really need to know a bit about the cj before we say trade or not. :dunno:
