I think the renix era was metric and the later standard so no. You can get the steel threaded nipple thats in the filter adapter from a newer cherokee or the dealer and swap it with the renix so the newer filters fit. I bought on years ago after reading about it but never did it would not even know where to look for it. I bet Hornbrod will be in with the part number before I can find it.

Well I was down talking to the guy again and his sister pulled in we were talking her X Boyfreind bought the engine for her jeep she was driving (xj), I said can you give me more info she said they ended up with it as a spare because they really bought it for a grand and it would not fit, so they stashed it as a spare for her XJ. So with that I bought it they had left everything on it so it looked like a 2000-2001 with the correct intake coil pack double cats still on it. After getting it home I noticed no bolts in the coil rail then started looking more at it. Now I check the date code its a damn 94 when he told me a 2000. I always wondered if I could put a older engine in a 2000 and thought it could be done so I will find out. They obviously had it in a 2000-01 with all the new stuff on it even has the electronic dizzy in it.

I have some pics of a engine a guy is selling that belonged to a relative he knows it was bought to put in a XJ sport but thats it. I took several pics so my question is can anyone tell me if its from a grand or xj as I know in the 2000 year range they are different.

Looks good and thats what I need bigger truck the MJ is just to small.

I think there different on the newer motors maybe 95 up?

Growing up we hunted snakes, rattlers mostly our dog would not come near us if we handled them or brought one home even dead they ran away. Regular snakes they would tare apart bit by bit. Old Guss must have some big balls, good for him and glad he is ok.

Copper heads and water snakes are hard to tell apart however that looks like a copper head. If your sure its DEAD look at the pupil if its round its a non posion if its shaped like this ( - ) not sure the word is, its a copper head. Let me know and hope he didnt get bit by it.

Thanks Hornbrod and I think your right maybe beer would help. Mine never did hurt which is bad that`s why they got so BIG. Had the right side done he had to remove them thru my back one was 5 CM (not MM) and 7 more about the size of marbles. Left is just as bad. Worst part of this was stage 4 kidney failure from them. In the past two months I spent 23 days in the hospitial. Five days on Dialiasis and two tubes in my back draining my kidneys to get them ready for the surgery for the last two months. Good news is kidney is working really good now just hope the left goes as well.

If I wasnt so screwed up health wise I could get you a set for free however I am headed Monday for my 3rd kidney stone surgery in the past few weeks. It could be well over a month till I could get them.

I have this set up and it all tucks in fine (using the closed system radiator). I used a cheap universal overflow however I did get a factory one from a 2.5 cherokee as there was a write up on it a while back and it fit great just can't remember where. I will go out and get some pics today for you if you would like them.

Guy has a cheep 94 4.0 xj engine I need one for a 2000. I know I can only use the block and head with exhaust adapter and the crank sensor should just swap into the distributor hole. Is the block the same and is there any other issues.

You know, me and the woman had a discussion about this, she drove #5 (97 XJ) till the engine shut down trying to make it home (another 10mi), warped head no or low compression #3, engine toast....well head gasket at the least, and possibly the head if its cracked. Gauges and flashing lights mean something....not that it can go another ten miles or in her case six. Sounds like you gettin too much fuel, suggest you look at the MAP sensor on the TB, be sure it's hooked up proper, and have you done O2 sensors lately? or ever? No never put a 02 and will check the map.

I was not driving it the wife was and she told me check engine light was flashing and was missing or loss of power drove it six miles home. I checked the codes got a po3006 missfire. Next day I ran it about 45 mins and it ran fine neighbor who followed me said its putting out black smoke when I pull out or step on it. Around 140,000 miles on motor 85,000 on body 4.0 auto. Head was replaced so I was told and no cooant loss with clean oil in the crank case. It is starting to use more oil than I care for eninge was out of a built mud truck. I have had some serious heath issues and can't do much or have much money right now so I am looking for ideas without throwing money at it. Three weeks in the hospitial and going back in soon. I have done some searching with no definite answers.

Good luck Jim, I may be in the same boat as I just spent 10 days in kidney failure in the Hospitial just got out yesterday. I may be selling my stuff of also (don't have as much as you). Right now my kidneys are starting to work again so I may get lucky. Wish I as closer maybe I could help.
