  1. JeepcoMJ, I am right there with you. I understand completely where you are coming from. However, commenting about a dead solder to his brother is quite over the top IMO. That was really what I was commenting on.
  2. I paid over $200 several months back for a pair of NOS Marchal 850's and they have gone up significantly since then. Good luck finding them in a junkyard. Most likely, they would be on a Grand Wagoneer.
  3. I am absolutely certain my ROL lights were installed at the factory. ROL may stand for Rusted Out Lights but I am not sure. The writing is too rusted to read it. :rotf:
  4. Back in the day, specifically 1987, factory fog lights were available as a factory option. They were listed as "halogen fog lights". My comanche sales literature clearly shows Marchal fog lights on the front bumper and marchal driving lights on the roll bar. But my '87 came from the factory with "ROL" fog lights which I believe stands for "Rusted Old Lights" but I am not sure. Does anyone remember what caused a jeep to get Marchal verses ROL fog lights?
  5. Look at the crap that is allowed on other forums. I hope this one never turns into that: http://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/door-sp ... post786080
  6. I have a front lock on my JK. It sucks. Only on for "special moments".
  7. don't let them kid you. They find them cheap because they don't live in the rustbelt of indana or ohio. :rotf:
  8. Cool and Stupid. I would do it in a heartbeat. :rotf:
  9. What year? Renix's take several cranks to start. HO's start much quicker. He's right. My '87 has done that since the day we bought it back in '87.

    Checking in

I wondered what happened to you. People come and go so frequently on this forum. I always thought you would stick around.
  11. I'm in But I must confess, I am not a big fan of b&w images. But it looks great.
  12. Ahh, Smartcars. I can hardly wait to see one of those little insects going down the highway during a snow storm.
  13. Thanks Pete, SO are you still planning to come down to Indiana this weekend and take the leafs off? :clapping:
  14. If a guy was going to remove his rear leafs and leave them off for an extended period of time (perhaps 2 months), what is the best jack point to hold the rear end up? I was thinking on the frame right in front of the leafs but that seems like the only spot. Is there anywhere better? Does anyone think I would stress my frame by keeping it jacked up for that long? Thanks
  15. A front axle. What an opportunity for someone. This won't last long. I wonder what gears it has? :rotf: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/01-JEEP- ... ccessories
  16. I found one of these at a north eastern Indiana junkyard if anyone is interested. As far as I know, it is still there. You would need to get it yourself. I can't buy it and ship it to you. :shake:
  17. I have owned both and have a repainted Fey on my truck now. It is visible on my signature if you want to see it. I should point out that the license plate lights are the factory ones and not the Fey lights (they are a little ugly). Also, my Fey was flat black originally but it was repainted. My opinion is the Fey is much stronger than the factory bumper. But regarding rust, I don't know how well it would last over time. If you buy one, I suggest you paint the back and the bottom of it to give it a bit more protection. My preference is a factory bumper due to the looks. I have a factory one sitting on my garage floor I plan to mount someday but havent gotten around to it yet. But as you have already mentioned, they are difficult to find.
  18. JeepcoMJ, you're killing me. I used to have one of those but I don't have it any more. :dunno:
  19. I must agree. That wasnt necesary. As I tried to explain to everyone else but probably failed, if anyone were to compare the MJ to a Ford/Toyota, then it should be a fair comparison. Fair comparison means an '88 Toyota pickup or an '88 Ford Ranger. The specs on both of those made the 4.0 MJ a big deal when it arrived on the market (yes I am old enough to remember). And if you think the MJ suffered from rust problems, in the north, the Toyota was as tough as a wet kleenex box. Regarding the Renix being junk compared to the HO, that may be a little harsh. Vehicles & engines improve over time. That is what they are suppose to do. The HO was the second generation 4.0. Does that make the Renix junk? In my opinion, it is a great, reliable engine that runs the same as it did when new but 23 years later. I have nothing to back this up but I imagine there are more than a couple of these still on the road and logging 200k+ miles. I also bet there is a reason for that. My '87 Renix may be junk but it could pull a Ford Ranger all over the county and wouldnt even know it is back there (Except my factory rear bumper would fold :rotf: )
  20. It's not me. My truck didnt come with emblems. :dunno:
  21. I had the same problem until I figured out the temp gauge was off by 20%.
  22. I'm an American and don't hate Ford. But apples to apples, going back to 1988, a Toyota pickup, Ford Ranger verses a Renix Comanche? Look up the specs for the torque and HP. Back then, the 4.0 was a big deal and it continued to be one until they yanked it many years later.
  23. Locking a door doesnt help. The lock typically is connected to the door jam which is a 1" thick piece of yellow pine. I locked myself out of my garage and needed to kick it in. It didnt take much. When I got robbed, I left my garage door unlocked. That way, I only needed to replace stuff and not the door.
  24. Is this some kind of joke or is he serious? I remember back in the day, when the Indiana weather was too cold to be out, the old '87 started when many others wouldnt. Other than replacing brakes and other wear and tear items, I have had to take that jeep in once for engine work (actually twice because the first guy didnt do it right). And if I am not mistaken, the 4.0 goes on record as one of the most popular, reliable engines of all time? And one more thing, we complain about how rusty the Comanche can get. That is nothing compared to an '87 Toyota. I would love to show you an example of one in Indiana but I havent seen one for a few years.
  25. Nice truck. I am not sure why but i really like white comanches. So much so that I think I have a problem. :ack:
