from what I've read, re-arching is kind of a temporary thing, meaning they will just go back to where they were before. :( and it won't increase the rate so they will still sag under a load. I vote for a combo pack. use the 2wd pack's main (or whichever main is in better shape), cut the eyes off the other mains as leaf #2, then the next 4wd leaf, then its matching 2wd, then 4wd, then its matching 2wd, etc. assuming everything is in decent shape, that should give a small height boost and plenty more load power.

how does the explorer rear rotor compare to other rear disk applications? are explorer parts bigger than ZJ or KJ rotors? what's a modern 1/2 ton pickup running these days?

have you looked into tires yet?

can't say Ive tried, but looking at the clearance of the 15s, I'd doubt it. :( plus, do 14" tires exist in regular sizes? I've only known them on tiny cars and trailers.

I used a long brass punch. steel could dent the engine block. a bit of soap helped put the new one in. a word of warning though, if you in anyway nick or bend or otherwise damage the new seal, stop and get an new one. in fact, buy 2 while you're at the store. :thumbsup: also, make sure the silicone on the oil pan has had the full opportunity to cure before starting up the engine. :yes: as you can tell, my first RMS didn't go so smoothly. :( if I remember right, I dropped the pan 5 times. :fs1:

rat snakes are a native species and a good thing. :thumbsup: they are very effective at limiting rodent populations. :yes: In the end I want both around and so we'll be adding bat boxes somewhere before we seal up the vent (don't really want either one inside the attic), I'm just not sure where I can mount one that is snake-proof. :hmm: I mean, the snake scaled the outside wall of the garage to get up to the vent. that's some talent right there. :ack:

boa was my first guess, but that's what I'm familiar with (being a city boy and all). upon further examination, it has no traits that scream venomous. no pit and that round pupil is a dead giveaway. I'm going with Don's guess. sure looks the part and they are apparently incredible climbers.

in the attic vent. the screen keeps them out of the attic proper. usually just 1 or 2. at one time his summer there were 26!

will those questions show an individual's setup? seems like 2 questions would just give 2 answers. I think you might need to do it more like this: bone stock factory 0-2 and 30s or smaller 0-2 and 31s 2-3 and 30s or smaller 2-3 and 31s 3-5 and 31s 3-5 and 32s etc. that would show individual combinations. hot all the most common ones and add in any oddballs that come up. conversions of metric sizes back to inches and rounding answers is highly suggested or the chart would get out of hand in a hurry. :D

as an added choice for anyone reading this thread, we used uship.com and had my father's Camaro shipped from Detroit to Atlanta (house to house) for a little over 600. no driving on our part at all. :D would have cost more than that in trailer rental and gas so it was a no-brainer.

Id' still dolly it. maybe flat tow to the border if it's a substantial price increase to cross it with a rented dolly, but that's a loooong way to ask a 30 year old truck to pull and stop its own weight. I've flat towed long distances before, but always with a nearly new tow vehicle. and even then it was quite hairy at times.

could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure towing the maximum with an MJ means having trailer brakes. it'll be more money, but renting a dolly with brakes will be INCREDIBLY safer. . :MJ 1: .
