  1. all depends on your plans for the truck. brand new springs are going to be stiffer than what you have right now. unless you plan on carrying heavy loads all the time, the heavy duty springs are likely to be too stiff. how much choice is there for 4.5" lift springs?
  2. got a link to what you're looking at? 4.5 is right in the middle. going spring-over nets 5-6" over your current height. meaning if your springs are really tired this might be a good match for a 4.5" up front. but if they are in good shape, you'll get too much. most AALs give 3".
  3. yup. be prepared that Ujoints don't like changes to their operating angles, so you might get vibrations if you don't swap in new ones.
  4. SYEs are common place in TJs and XJs, but MJs have a much longer wheelbase and so the angles of the driveshaft are much more tame. guys have been known to go 6-7 in lift and still run the stock setup. although at that much lift you start to run into the driveshaft not being quite long enough.
  5. any snowfall to speak of yet?
  6. step one: whatever is the easiest to get it to pass emissions. step 2: LS
  7. do not cut ANYTHING until you get the middle exactly where it goes. and cut a little bit at a time. doesn't take much to hack off 1 inch too much because you didn't realize where the plastic trim actually covers the carpet.
  8. XJs in junkyards are your best bet
  9. people have used XJ carpet before. I can't say how well it worked since I haven't. also I've never seen an old used XJ carpet worth reusing.
  10. floors are looking a bit rough there
  11. oh, that's going to be a fun one tomorrow in the Jeep somehow my laptop speakers don't seem to do it justice
  12. god I love this truck!
  13. missed the official date by a few months, but happy anniversary everyone! a huge thanks to all of you that make this community possible! without you guys/gals this would just be a Wikipedia page.
  14. I rock a 92 XJ radio in my 06 CRD using Jeremy's bluetooth connection. (the white cord is a retractable power cord for my phone) because, why not
  15. nostalgia is good and all but I now rent infinity songs through spotify and can never go back. my playlists are constantly expanding as I find new and old stuff to add plus you can get bluetooth tape adapters so it's kinda like the best of both worlds?
  16. makes your life way harder. it stiffens everything up and makes it super challenging to get it to lay flat against the steel.
  17. try to get one made in Japan. see the link in my signature to find Jeremy's breakdown of all the old radios.
  18. Yukon center console has some new pleather good as new! and for less than 10 bucks!
  19. apparently it's super duper common. the v8 absolutely yanks up with a vengeance each time you gas it. and I can say that it's also a pain in the hands to accomplish the swap.
  20. still freaks me out a bit that I can now accelerate like a normal car. well, a "normal car" if that normal car had a mufflerless diesel.
  21. the tab inside one of my taillight sockets was crushed flat and not contacting the bulb which caused weird issues. also do make sure that you check each socket for continuity in case there's a break inside.
